10oz pour from Zeno's for $7... not bad considering the price for a 375ml bottle!

A - This is a very thick and black looking beer... as it poured from the tap it represented an oil leak more than a beer. The color certainly fits this as well as its hard to discern much out of this body. Very little head on this beer, and what was there is soon gone. Lacing as well is minimal, only slight clumps stick to the glass.

S - For how dark the beer is, the smell is actually a bit lighter than o would've expected. The two main things I'm getting in this beer are sweet malts, coming through in a very rich chocolate flavor, and bourbon. Additional depth is provided by the barrel in the form of vanilla and oak.

T - As in the nose, there are two major distinctive flavors in this beer but much more complex. The initial flavors rush by the tongue delivering the chocolate so prominently promised by the nose. It's as sweet and rich as ever here, which makes it so complementary to the huge bourbon that comes afterward. While not as balanced as other bourbon stouts, this beer certainly brings a big alcohol kick to it. The flavor itself is reminiscent of Brooklyn's Black Ops, but with a harder punch. It also has a bit of astringency to it as well, which leads into a strong, yet warming alcohol heat.

M - Mouthfeel is heavy-bodied with moderate carbonation. This beer puts a new meaning to "coating the palate" and the finish is absurdly long.

D - Drinkability is high. For a beer this alcoholic, its insanely easy to drink. The only thing keeping me from demolishing this beer is the bold flavors that I want to savor. Awesome beer and if not for the price and availability, a mainstay.

A: pitch black with a 1-finger tan head; quickly dissipates after pour. Typical stout.

S: Spicy; oaked. Resembles a heavily oaked red wine.

T: Spicy; cinnamon and licorice blended with dark chocolate. Maple syrup. Alcohol as an aftertaste.

M: Creamy but not to thick. Bitter hops is a prominent aftertaste and lasts.

O: A great beer; Spicy and malty. Definitely flavors you wouldn't experience in a typical stout. On the pricey side, but worth it.
