Smuggled into NY from PA, I'm not sure how fresh this bottle was - lots of belgianesque trub in the bottom.
It pours a bright but hazy golden amber color with a brilliant white head - sparse but persistant to the very end leaving sheets of lace trailing behind. Floculant yeasties and such stay suspended in the liquid tho slow, steady carbonation is still visable.
Aroma is not a blast of hoppy pine and citrus but a mellow mix of soft vanilla notes and freshly squeezed orange juice. Not in your face but clean and welcoming. Smells a bit like a creamsicle.
The flavor is lush malt up front followed by strong, fresh grassy hop flavors. This tastes like there were generous mid-boil hop additions and the wet hop flavor really comes through. The soft malt character takes a back seat to the hops ( of course) but keeps its presence known by speaking up with bready flavors and more hints of vanilla.
The body is on the light side of medium - mouth filling but not at all heavy on the tongue.
Overall, one of the more drinkable and hoppy flavored IPA's I've had. Very session-able and I would guess even better when truly fresh and closer to home.
Outstanding.

Bottled last October so this one could be a little fresher but either way I'm gonna try it. The beer poured out as a nice hazy yellow color with a fluffy white head on top. The retention and lacing is pretty good. The smell of the beer is pretty bright and lively, the Centennial overpowers the Simcoe. The taste of the beer is citrusy with a bit of pine in the finish. Not much malt sweetness. The mouthfeel has a little too much carbonation but still drinkable. Overall I want a fresh bottle just to see the difference. Still good though after a few months.
