Blind Bomber #3: Holy smokes! Sholland119 sent me the Fist of Hops Fury! The beer was served chilled in an Imperial Pint glass.

A 4.5 The body of the beer was a slightly hazy honey / peach coloration. The head of the beer was thick and pillowy biege coloration. Great head retention it stood up to my considerable mustache. Concentric rings of lace remained behind marking this beers very rapid passage into my stomach.

S 4.5 Resinous pine hops nearing a coniferous forrest assault my sense of smell. A very subdued sweet citrus undertone is noted.

T 4.5 I am really digging a layered pine, pinecone, pine needle, pine resin flavor. This must be what it is like to bite into the Christmas tree. Or what I imagine Pinesol would taste like. (Note to self dont drink the Pinesol!) The malt on this beer is waffer thin. I think I am tasting a brief flash of bitter sweet citrus also. Very nice and dry with no astringency.

M / D 4.5 / 5 The body of the beer seems light but not anemic. The carbonation level of the beer works very well with the beer. Very gentle carbonation. The hops are definately coating in a resinous fashion and never let up. I love a big malty beer; however, sometimes I Jones for a fist full of bitter hops. This beer definately delivers. No alcohol noted in the aroma, taste or mouthfeel of the beer. The alcohol is definately kicking a pleasing buzz worthy fashion. This would definately be a goto hop fix. The beer left my glass at a very rapid fashion.

The reveal: Port Brewing Wipe Out IPA. I wish this one came to Ohio / Indiana or Kentucky. This would be a goto hop fix. Thanks again Sholland119

Tons of sea foam over an orange brew. Sticky and lacy (an old TV show from the 70's)

Aroma is West Coast all the way. Lemons, tangerines, grapefruit and oranges. The taste almost lives up to the unrealistic aromatic expectations. Bitterness is high based on an incredible hop profile. I think I like this better than any of the Port Brewing beers I've had yet, and it is the cheapest ($4.99 for a 22 oz. bomber). A spectacular West Coast IPA.

The mouth feel is medium, bitter and refreshing.

How were they able to expand to a cesspool like Georgia and keep the quality so high? Amazing! Port Brewing Company is doing a lot of things right. Please keep sending your fine products to Georgia. I end up buying a case after each one I try. There's no question I'll get a case of Wipe Out on Monday! You can't buy beer in Georgia on Sunday. No...really!

Bottle #4 of the night. I was expecting this to be half the beer Hop 15 was. Beautiful color, darker copper, with a 1/4 inch thick head. Lively citrus and pine dancing around the nose, lots of simcoe for sure as the label describes 5 different hops. Not smacking me in the head hard like hop 15, which i expected but what a great nose. Goes down balanced and smooth, lots of west coast hops screaming as it finishes. I really enjoyed this one as well as the other IPA and IIPA's from Port. At 7% this one is dangerous!

poured into my handy pizza port pint glass a golden pale hue with tons of lovely lacing.

smells of fresh pine and apricot with tons of hops in that massive san diego fashion. i never get tired of ipa's like this one. clean and balanced with just enough bitterness to keep it interesting.

starts off mellow before exploding in hops. i'm guessing this is why they call it wipeout. finishes just as it starts, smooth and comforting as a great ipa should. not a challenge like some dipa's, just an excellent american ipa.

mouthfeel is exquisite. good carbonation, slightly chewy but not too challenging. bitterness right where it should be.

i could drink pint after pint of this exceptional ale. the 7%abv is well hidden in this most drinkable ipa. i would say this is an ipa that could convert non-ipa drinkers. another reason pizza port's one of my favorite breweries hands down!

Appearance: perfect fluffy white cap, a very hazy yellowish orange. Lots of excellent sediment floating about. Excellent white stickly lacing. Orange sediment stains the foam as it settles. Sexy.
Smell: Grapefruit and orange candy, hoppy wonderfullness.
Taste: I took note before enjoying this bottle, that there are 5 different hops involved. I think I recognize the simcoe bitterness first. Then the sweet fruitiness of the other varieties begin to show up as this beer warms up. Not piney at all as I expected. Tastes vaguely mirrors the nose. Definite citrus finish. Not too complex IMHO. Very good though.
Mouthfeel: Perfect body for the style. Coats the mouth generously and does not disapoint.
Conclusion: Keep it out of the fridge for 15mins or so before enjoying. A very solid well done IPA. I would definitely drink again. Nothing mind blowing, but an excellent beer nonetheless.

Pours an unfiltered orange. It is almost cider like in appearance. Good creamy looking head that sticks around.

Nose is lots of piny hops that smells extremely fresh.

Taste is overpoweringly fresh and bitter hops coming through. very enjoyable.

Mouth is light, fresh, and smooth with good carbonation.

Drinkability is extremely high. I really loved this beer, sadly I had to enjoy it in the cold of Chicago instead of with a delicious pizza from Pizza Port. I really look forward to that next time I am in sunny California...best pizza I have had outside of Chicago.

Soft and hazy straw color with very thick, white, chunky head. Sticks to the glass like a champ!

Outstanding citrus and spicy herb aroma. Orange and lemon mixed with pine and sweet grass.

Sweet tasting light grains. Biscuit with honey. A very nice overarching bitterness takes over mid-way and lingers to the end.

Medium-to-heavy body, smooth and velvety. Wet and juicy.

A pretty impressive IPA. Excellent smell and taste with everything combining in well-balanced and delightfully complex ways.

Bomber recently purchased in Seattle. Poured into an imperial ping, Wipe Out IPA is a hazy dark gold with a small, eggshell head, very tight bubbled, leaving medium lace.

Smell is very floral and fragrant, wow, fantastic. As it warms, you get more classic NW hops, pine and citrus.

Taste is also very floral, fruiter hops, sweet but not overly, just enough bitterness to be firm, with a lingering, hoppy finish.

Mouth is nice, medium body, not to thick, dry.

Drinkability is good, a strong IPA for sure, with the booze obvious but clean, lighter then others it's size. I'd love to see this in sixers!

Ok, so first final is over. It's good beer time. I've been saving this. Had it awhile back, forgot to review it. Now I'm hoping it stands up as well as remembered.

Appearance - A nice copper color w/a stark white half inch of head. It sticks around for a little while. Very pretty beer.

Smell - Fantastic. A little pine, with lots of citrus and grapefruit, the cascade are definitely present. A little spice as well, and almost a little funkiness.

Taste - Very smooth up front. Almost sweet at first. Very smooth. Then with a killer bitter hop kicker. It's pretty sweet, but bitter. It's a pretty well balanced with a ton of flavor.

Mouthfeel - Pretty solid. It's a little thinner than I might want. I'd like it to stick around a bit more. As soon as you get it, it's gone.

Drinkability - Almost too good. A couple of these guys can be trouble, but it's totally worth it.

I really love this beer. One of my favorite IPA's and it definitely did not disappoint.

Port has hit it out of the Park with this one! Initially stumbled upon this at the neighborhood gastropub- thinking the server had inadvertently misidentified the Stone IPA (I'm a big Stone fan) with the Wipeout. Beautiful pour, balanced hop-wise, a taste and aftertaste that you want to linger or rehearse with the next mouthful.

Albeit less hoppy than Green Flash's West Coast IPA, has become the personal co-standard bearer of the West Coast IPA style of brew. An exceptional taste and value for this beer.

Pours hazy orange, almost like a darker hef, rich white frothy head. Smells of strong citrus. Orange, lemon, tangerine with a slightly piney backbone. Tastes very orange, almost like a fresh orange was squeezed into your beer. As it washes down it fades a bit but the citrus flavors come back strong and stick around. This is a great IPA, especially for the price range (this one was 4.29)

Definitely lived up to the hype. Poured from bottle into pint glass from 22 oz bomber.

Pours a mellow, golden honey, with no more than an inch of foam from a relatively gentle pour.

Resinous, piny hops abound in the aroma department.

Malt is definately a light caramel. Hops are very balanced between bitterness, flavor, and aroma enhancers. Standout flavor of hops is a very light grapefruit, alongside the resiny bite. Finishing pour (the rest of the bottle) stirs up the sediment and brings a very slight yeast note.

Impeccable mouthfeel. My personally most desirable. A bit chewy-er than a pale, but nowhere near overwhelming or heavy.

Drinkability: multiples, for sure. Only thing to watch out for is the 7% alc.

The cloudy body was amber in color, and the head was very large, starting at nearly half the glass, and settling to three finger thick. The smell was perfect for the style, with very citric and spicy hop smell dominant up front. The taste was assertively hoppy as well. The hops presented themselves as peppery, resinous, and crisp. The malt was toasty and reminiscent of a saltine cracker. The body was medium dense and refreshing. The aftertaste was a lingering bitterness. I would love to see their take on the DIPA style soon, because this was about as perfect as they come in this style.

I wanted to try something new, and have heard Port's reputation, so i decided to go with the style i'd most likely enjoy.

Pours a cloudy orange color with minimal head and fizzy lacing.

As soon as i smelled it, i knew i was in for a treat! Hoppy and delicious, none of the sickly sweet smells i sometimes get from other IPAs/IIPAs... so good. Have to breath in really deep to even get a hint of alcohol... well played.

Taste is everything I could ever want in an IPA. Hoppy raisins and pine-y majestic hints. One of those beers that tastes slightly different with every sip. Only slightly bitter until you swallow. Simply outstanding, it's as if they brewed this beer with me in mind.

Mouthfeel is pretty standard, fairly dry from the carbonation, so it definitely does not feel like a 7% ABV beer. I like that.

Drinkability? Hell with this flavor i wish it was as cheap as PBR. Honestly, I could drink this every day and not want anything more. Well done Port.

Thanks to cburian for the trade!

Beautiful reddish-amber body. Head was very thin, with little to no lacing.

Nose is superb IPA. Deeply piney with a hint of sugary citrus.

Flavor is outstanding IPAness. Balanced hoptastic flavor with a moderately sturdy malt backbone. Even a tiny bit of creaminess. This reminds me very much of Masala Mama. No flavor is overwhelming or dominant, it's appeal is in the whole.

Mouthfeel is medium to slightly oily, with that hint of tooth-stripping quality that IPA fans know and love.

Drinkability is tops! Everything I love in an IPA. A growler of this would not be too much.

Another solid brew from Pizza Port. Now I want to see Hop15 or HopSuey in the bottle...

Lightly foggy peachy lemon with a surprising number of bubbles. Things settle down in fairly short order, but not before the creation of a massive, pastel gold cap that resembles melting mousse as it slowly deflates. Little wavelets of sea foam lace decorate the pint glass initially, becoming larger chunks of foam as the beer falls with drinking.

The nose is West Coast IPA heaven. It could hardly be otherwise with a hop bill that includes most of my favorites: Amarillo, Cascade, Centennial, Simcoe and Summit. It's no surprise that the aroma is full of zesty lemon, grapefruit and orange. I'm pretty sure this is going to be outstanding beer.

Question: when do 78 IBUs taste like 98? Answer: when very little pale malt is added to the kettles. Wipeout is a quintessential, hugely hopped, Southern California IPA that never met a tongue it didn't want to destroy. Talk about a wipeout, I won't be tasting much of anything for at least a few hours.

Each gulp delivers a scathing amount of bitterness. Thankfully, it's accompanied by a dizzying amount of hop juicy flavor. White grapefruit pith, lemon peel, bitter orange and resinous pine sap dance a fandango across each and every taste bud. An undercurrent of sugar cookie-like pale malt tries to keep its head above water and is successful enough to keep the beer from becoming a pure alpha acid fest. Damn, this stuff is good.

I'm amazed at how full and how plush the mouthfeel is given the buzzsaw character of the hops. I guess that means there's a fair amount of malt present after all. The bottom line is that I wouldn't change a single thing about the way the beer feels in the mouth.

I had a pretty good idea that Wipeout IPA would be good, I just didn't expect it to be this good. I'm glad I got the chance to drink it fresh because it's been a good, long while since I've had such an explosively hoppy beer (thanks Luchman). If I lived in Port Brewing Company's distribution area, I'd buy this stuff by the case.

Appearance - Slightly reddish amber, white head that lasted the entire beer with great lacing.

Smell - Very Floral, with a slight bitter hop aromatic.

Taste - Bitter, very hoppy, with a slightly malt backbone. This is bordering on a Double IPA taste wise.

Mouthfeel - Good CO2, lots of body and slightly thick.

Great beer, one of the best IPAs I have had out of a bottle.

Pours a cloudy golden orange color, nice carbonation, nice small creamy tannish head which just stays there the whole drink. The nose is hoppy, malty, citrusy, nice pines, and caramel. The taste is mostly hoppy, some malts, nice touch of grapefruit/pines, and some caramel. The finish is bitter and dry, just the way I like it. Medium body. Very drinkable, finally got to this one, very very tasty, another awesome brew from Port.

On tap at the brewery. A honey gold with a small white head. Aroma is full of fruity citrus hops. Flavor does not disappoint. More hops similar to the aroma with plenty of bitterness to back it up. Some malt character but not sweet. Finish is clean and dry. This one is in there with my top favorite IPAs.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into two 16oz pint glasses. Thanks to HeatherAnn for the assist! Thanks to Ineedabeerhere for the trade and hook-up!

A: Pours a beautiful looking, hazy, bright glowing peach color. Lots of suspended sediment floating under the creamy, light-tan, 1 1/2 finger head that left a healthy coating of lace in the glass.

S: Wonderful aromas of spicy hops, sweet caramel, pine, juicy pineapple, sweet apple, and tangerine.

T: See above. Healthy malt bill, mango, apricot, pine tar, and white pepper. Pungeant hoppiness!

M: Juicy, spicy, and astringent. Prickly and peppery. Sticky, oily, and coats like tar.

D: Almost off the charts. Huge hops, huge malt, and huge flavor. Incredible. I enjoyed this more than Hop 15.

Poured into a tulip glass. Cyrstal clear golden/orangish, yellow in color. A three finger head on top thats white and soapy.

Wonderfully fresh grapefruit and tropical citrus. Floral, orange zest and just a touch of caramel sweetness.

Taste is ummm...HOPS! Beautifully bitter. Clean and dry. Grapefruit and orange. This is how an IPA should taste! Its got my favorite hop varieties. Amarillo,Cascade,Centnnial,Simcoe and Summitt. They combine for a delicious profile.

Mouthfeel is light to medium and smooth. Clean and easy to drink. Finishes dry and bitter. But a nice bitter.

Drinkability is close to perfect. I could drink many of these beers for sure. Port makes some excellent hop bombs. Hop-15, High Tide, and now Wipeout are all excellent.

T: Grapefruit and orange, bitter and hoppy! Very crisp and dry; just what I was hoping for! However, not overpoweringly bitter for the non-hophead, too.

M: Light/medium, with a dry/bitter finish. Very nice.

A - Hazy dirty orange yellow, some head and lacing there. Definitely not too filtered (but no chunks).

S - Citrus hops, some alcohol, kinda herbal piny but not to much.

T - Taste of citric hops and bitter herbal'ness, mixed with some alcohol, pretty balanced and aftertaste is clean for a WCIPA.

M - Balanced fizzy carbonation, not over the top, clean aftertaste goes down smooth. Little frothy but not bad at all.

D - Drinks great for a nice IPA (west coast style), not to heavy and not to light, great example of IPA from my area. Overall I enjoy this one (anything outta port is great). Has a great micro brew taste, and look. Thumbs UP!

Thanks to jakekohut for this one. Poured into a tulip.

A: Pours a full, frothy 2 finger head with plenty of carbonation bubbling to the top. Color is a deep gold with burnt orange highlights. Thick sheets of lace coat the glass.

S: Citrusy and floral hops with a bit of a grassy/earthy component. Smells quite juicy.

T: Wonderful flavors here. Citrus, grapefruit, and pine hops all meld together on top of a subtly sweet malt background. Something about the malt here that makes this beer stand out from most other IPAs. A touch of sugar or maybe even rock candy - but definitely something sweet.

M: Prickly carbonation and resinous hop flavors. Medium in body.

D: Excellent IPA and hop profile. Would love to have this around.
