This bottle is 6 months old so we'll see how it goes.
A: Pours hazy yellow with an orange hue. Huge, frothy, white head. This one is lively.
S: Slight citrus, grassy hops. Not all that aromatic and not nearly as hop forward as I like in an IPA.
T: Taste is malty and citrus hops. Again, hops are not as pronounced up front as I would like although they do show up in the form of a bitter finish.
M: Medium bodied and very lively. Slightly overcarbonated.
O: This one is a disappointment for me. Where are the hops in this West Coast IPA? Very average and forgettable, IMO. I definitely wanted to like this more. I'll have to try again with a fresher bottle.

Cloudy gold with a solid thick quilt of marshmallow foam. Smells of grapefruit, resin, plastic, sage, lemons. Taste of bitter hops, some biscuit malts, some grapefruit, some resin and a little alcohol. Medium on full bodied with tight and moderate carb with an off dry finish. Quality beer, wish it could show up more often in my area, and fresh.

A: Hazyish with a nice orange hue. Head is about ½ IN and very foamy.
S: extremely fruity, slightly hoppy
T: Not as bitter as expected, very fruity and the malts come through nicely. Actually wish the hops came through more
M: Carbonated well and thick mouthfeel. Doesn’t linger for long though
O: A good but not great IPA. Wish the hops came through more in aroma and flavor. But, Definitely wouldn’t turn it down in the future.

This beer is kinda expensive for the quality at $4.50 a 22oz. Lite amber in color has wonderful floral notes, of grapefruit and tangerine peel slight piney finish. What can I say it's ok the mouthfeel is alright I thought it a little bitter for my palate. It would be ok as a $8.00 6pk but for $4.50 a bottle it is not suitable for my palate.

A: Rather hazy, light-orange colored, with about a finger to a finger and a half of fluffy, white head. Head is composed of medium to large bubbles, that dissolve rather quickly, leaving a moderate amount of lace (a little tough to tell in the plastic glass it was served in.)
S: Starts with some bitter fruits, but quickly followed with lots of bready malts. Not particularly hoppy in the nose.
T: Tasty. A bit of fruit upfront followed by a malty body, before finishing with moderate hops. There's a bit of dry, astringent alcohol taste between the fruits and malty body, but nothing I would call boozy; just not as hidden as some beers. 7.0% abv btw.
M: Medium body; moderately thick and sticky. Carbonation is good. Just about right for an IPA.
O: An excellent example of a West Coast IPA, though the hops may understandably be an acquired taste. This tastes like SoCal to me, and it tastes good.

A - Pours a hazy yellow-light orange. Short head. Minimal bubbles.
S - Not much hoppy aroma. Must be an older bottle. I get mostly soft malt, mild floral, a little tangerine and some faint diesel.
T - Still tastes pretty good. Light tangerine and lemon with a medium piney bitter finish.
O - No bottling date. If this is relatively fresh, I'm not impressed. If it's old, it tastes decent for an old IPA.

Cost was $5.00 at the Cap N Cork in Los Feliz. 1 pint 6 fl oz brown glass bottle with standard branded pressure cap servd into a conical Samuel Smith's pint glass in me gaff in low altitude Los Feliz, Los Angeles, California. Reviewed live. 7.0% ABV confirmed. Expectations are high given the brewery, which also makes Hop 15 - one of the best DIPAs I've ever had. Bottled 11/06/12.
Served straight from the fridge. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.
A: Pours a healthy froth five finger head of beige colour, nice cream, good thickness, and great (6+ minute) retention for the high ABV. Fluffy and soft. Body colour is a lightly hazy vibrant yellow. Translucent and clear. No yeast particles are visible. No bubble show. Looks par for the style; a bit lighter in colour perhaps. In any case, I'm excited to try it. Not unique or special, but there are no over flaws and the retention's quite impressive. Good soapy lacing clings to the sides of the glass as the head slowly recedes.
Sm: Light grassy notes, pale malts, bright citrus, floral hop notes, lemon zest, clove, and banana. Delicate and light in strength. Refreshing and appealing. I don't detect any yeast character or alcohol. Light toasted malt. A bit of orange.
T: Juicy grapefruit with accompanying unpleasant hop bitterness. A pale malt/grassy body. Clove and banana, probably from the yeast. The finish is juicy citrus with some of the dying hop bitterness. A bit nectary and refreshing - the highlight of this beer. Light hop oil is reminiscent of Lagunitas' offerings. The more I'm drinking it the more the bitterness is fading, but it still has that grapefruit bite that I despise. Decently balanced and refreshing, but not without its flaws. I do get the ABV a bit, which is a shame. No yeast character comes through. Tasty but problematic.
Mf: Refreshing, smooth, and wet. It's a bit sharp and overcarbonated, with an unpleasant bite that cuts into the smoothness, intruding. A bit oily. Decent palate presence. Suits the flavour profile well for the most part, but still needs work. Soft and chewy. Light on the palate. Somewhat delicate - the best quality of this beer by far.
Dr: A drinkable IPA from Port, but it doesn't match Hop 15's quality. Maybe the little bit of age on this bottle is affecting it substantially, but it tastes quite fresh and it's been refrigerated. Hides its ABV decently. I'd like to revisit it a bit more fresh, but it's still not bad by any means. I just expected more given the brewery. IPA fans will no doubt enjoy it, and I'll have no problem finishing it.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a wine glass
A: Lightly hazy golden-orange with a big head of large whit bubbles.
S: Citrus and pine, west cost style but not overwhelming. Some nice, lighter tropical aromas as well.
T: More pronounced pine flavor than I got from the aroma; almost a little spicy. Citrus and orange peel meld with a bit of caramel to provide some sweetness to the brew. The finish is not powerful but still lingers a bit.
M: Medium thin and a little oily. Carbonation is moderate.
O: A good, moderate west cost style IPA.

22 oz bottle, 3 weeks fresh, poured into a 16 oz HopLeaf Tulip glass. $5.99 per bottle.
Appearance: Opaque, tan/copper/bronze color. 3 finger pure white head. Moderate to good retention and lacing.
Smell: Underwhelming. Floral, like a spring meadow I guess. Not piney much. A little bit of lemon zest.
Taste: Floral hops more dominant in the taste. A little citrus zest. Some bitterness. The hop profile on this beer has 5 hop varieties I believe, so not surprised that this is a bit all over the place. Goes down easy though, could drink this quickly.
Mouthfeel: Spot on. Moderate carbonation. Smooth, moderately dry, not too sticky.
Overall: A solid IPA offering from Port, one that I expect is probably better fresh. I wish the hops were more present, but the rest of the beer had good balance and was refreshing. I would order this on tap and drink it again if it was fresh.

Honey gold, slightly hazy, huge persistent head like a dollop of meringue and loads of lace. Smells of mandarins, tangerines, key limes, honey and toast. Taste is orange citrus, papaya, honey cakes, pine. Creamy mouthfeel with a nice bitter bite and perfect carbonation. Wet and refreshing, clean moderately bitter finish, extremely drinkable and delicious. I could drink this for breakfast and dinner. Very nice.

Cloudy, honey colored with less fluffy and persistent head than other Port beers. But I love the unfiltered, orangeish liquid.
Smells a bit like banana bread and/or tostones with plenty of pungent, earthy notes. Definitely hoppy, and smells like BEER and not wine or tea or gardening compost.
Taste: This is an extremely flavorful, hoppy beer, and I love it like I love grandma. I acknowledge that some may find it a bit on the one-dimensional side--it does not reflect hop complexity quite as well as it could, even though it includes Amarillo, Cascade, Centennial, Simcoe, and Summitt.
Mouthfeel is perfect. For my palate, Port excels at this--full bodied with both creaminess and a bite.
Overall: In Georgia, where I live, this is one of the most explosively flavorful and kick-ass IPAs available, and is therefore among my favorites.

The Beers of California
#46
Bottled Date: 9/27/12
A: Golden orange to amber with a glorious fluff of white head that retains well.
S: Orange. sunshine, pine tree, green grass, and daisies. There is also some caramel sweetness and fresh warm bread.
T: Freshness translates to the palate again with pine, orange zest bite, grass, and wild flowers. There is a nice warm bread and caramel sweet malt that provides the backbone to the hop strength of the brew. The heat continues from the middle of the palate to the finish.
M: Resiny and oily with good linger, medium feel and appropriate, lively carbonation. There is smoothness also which adds to the drinkability of the brew.
O: Built in the classic West Coast IPA style. Port brings another solid IPA worth time and attention despite the already crowded and long list of California beers in this style.

Bottle to hfs sniffer
A: a great orangy yellow lighter gone color with a big fluffy head a little lighter and it would be perfect
S:there is some hop smell but it is not super strong like I expected with not hints of citrus and a little bit of alcohol
T: the taste is pretty hoppy but not the power I expect from an west coast ipa. There is big resiny bitterness in the finish but not too much that its a palate wrecker
M: smooth an oily with a little bit of resin in there too but not too much you can def feel it though.
O:this is a decent ipa but as far as west coast ipas go this is really lacking in term of a hop punch not bad and I may be back worth a try.

Out of a bottle at Haven Gastropub in Old Town Orange, CA
Looks to be an average beer day for Raul. After two medium level stouts, it's a Wipeout that is just basically aiiiite.
Not bad, not great, but definitely doable. I suppose when this playa is used to drinking Pliny, Sculpin, Nelson, and AleSmith IPA, well, you know...
But life is beautiful my children. Keep doin' it while you can.

Bottle picked up at the brewery in mid November. Pours a hazy golden amber with minimal, large-bubbled head - not the most attractive pint. Brilliant, hop-forward aroma of pine and citrus. Also an excellent taste that spans a wide variety of flavours, from the sweet caramelized malts to a whole "west coast" hop profile : tropical fruits and citrus. A bitter finish that lingers for an impressive length of time, with some fruit notes in the background.
Definitely a beer I'd recommend to any "hop head" and one I'd personally buy again.

thanks to pelican5 for this one!
a: murky cloudy orange body. two fingers of off white foam that floats in the middle of the glass like a giant iceberg. plenty of spotty lacing is left behind.
s: huge tropical fruits like pineapple, mango and grapefruit.
t: sweet tropical fruits with a well balanced malt body to level things out.
m: medium body, good carbonation. not overly sticky sweet or all that oily like a lot of ipa's are. not much dryness or bitterness on the finish either.
o: very drinkable, smelled great, glad i got to knock this one off of my wants!

The color when poured was a medium amber with a little foam and some lace on the side of the glass. The smell of bitter hops and pine trees had a mild aroma to the nose. The taste had a mild hoppy flavor with a hint of fruit and spices. Not really bitter or over powering hop's for an IPA. Would buy it again.

22 oz dated 9/18/12 served in a imperial pint glass.
A- Light golden color with a touch of haze. Big huge creamy white head that follows the beer all the way to the bottom.
S- big pineapple and grapefruit. Nice round grass tones as well.
T- big ripe pineapple and grass over tones. Light bitter finish.
M-light body with strong carbonation. Beer is well rounded along the pallet with a smooth refreshing quick bitter finish
O- What a west coast ipa should stand up to be. Great refreshing bright flavors.

A - Golden amber with a two finger head that settles into a thick pillow. Decent lacing around the glass. Plenty of sediment suspended in the beer, seems to be a common theme with Port Brewing.
S - Pine, mango, passion fruit. Nice blend of hops.
T - Hop Bomb! I thought from the smell that this guy was gonna be mild mannered. No way. Bitter hops right up front that mellows out into the more tropical/piney hops. Might be a little sweet bready malts on the back, but they're very faint.
M - Medium bodied, but leaves lots of oil on the tongue. Decent carbonation keeps this guy tasting fresh.
O - Decent IPA, but nothing too special. Four bucks for a bomber makes this beer a win for me though.

Thanks to SatlyMalty for providing my first Port Brewing beer! Poured into a Dogfish signature snifter. Bottleneck says Bottled 7/24/12.
A- Pours a medium amber color with a 1/2 inch off-white head that retains slightly before descending to a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a big patch of frothy surface foam. Lacing slides slowly down the glass leaving a pointy ring.
S- Burst of tropical fruit such as pineapple, guava and mango. Some alcohol fume and a trace of malt.
T- Blast of hop bite on the palate that doesn't include much of the fruit notes that were in the aroma. More grassy in the taste. The bitterness doesn't let up as more sips are taken. The alcohol is relatively light for 7% but still noticeable. Some malt sweetness slips in as the palate finally becomes acclimated. Now the fruit comes in again to offset the bitterness with some juiciness...still very bitter though.
M- Extremely sharp but not dry. Medium carbonation and body.
O- The aroma is excellent, although I find the flavor a bit one-dimensional. But hey, if you want your hop fix, it's right here.

One of my favorite summertime IPAs.
Gently poured into a pilsner glass. Has a hazy strawberry blonde color with a one inch foamy white head. Head lingers for quite a long time.
Aroma is citrusy and sweet like a mild candied orange peel smell.
Taste is reminiscent of the aroma. Mild, sweet and citrusy. With a lingering bitternes in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel is light to medium, fairly dry with good carbonation.
All around a great sessionable IPA for the summer. Very well balanced and delicious.

Thi is Wipeout IPA, in a 22oz bomber from BevMo, poured into Stella glass.
A: Very nice light gold/light amber color, clear, with a 1" white head; lots of lacing left on the glass as the head subsided.
S: Nice hop aroma - Initially a very spicy aroma; something like you'd find with an English IPA or an all Amarillo IPA. This is followed by a light tropical fruitiness with orange and pink grapefruit to me.
T: Malty and a slight sweeness followed by style appropriate bitterness that lingered nicely as expected. I could again, pick up tropical ruit with moderate bitterness with orange and grapefruit. The overall finish was dry and mildly bitter. The one thing I picked up on the front end was a very strong alcohol presence. If there's one negative about this beer, I would say that's it.
MF: To me, it was a medium heavy mouthfeel, with medium carbonation, and a dry bitterness.
O: I like this IPA. It's a nice, solid very drinkable IPA. I do wish the alcohol were lower and I don't like the alcohol on the front end.

Wipeout IPA, 22oz bomber bottled 7/24, poured into my CBS snifter.
A: Beautiful light gold body, the color of orange juice really...the body is transparent and the head is a small white ring with large bubbles...lots of lacing left on the glass.
S: Really good nose, still smells fresh for a beer thats 1.5 months old...dominating tropical fruitiness, peach and mango, papaya, orange, pink grapefruit...with hints of other sweet fruit and astringent notes.
T: Solid, tropical fruit, moderate bitterness, orange and tangerine, apricot, underlying astringency, grapefruit pith, dry finish.
MF: Light to medium mouthfeel, low carbonation in this bottle, smooth, biting bitterness, moderate dryness.
O: A really solid IPA, probably even better fresh. Wish these kind of beers were offered in 12oz formats though...
