Apperance is a lighter golden amber. It's well attenuated and quite clear. Sitting on top is a tall dense rather tannish head. The thick foaminess fades slowly to thick surface coating but a good swirl brings back this lively head.
Aroma is very pleasing, a thick oily fresh hop aroma thats has sutle nuainces of citrus and lemon peel. Malts are sweet and light.
Taste is wonderfully hoppy and fresh. Hop flavor seems to wane here not being able to really discern any one particular type of style of hop. Perhaps this beer is shelve aged a bit.
Malts are sweet and balance out the hops nicely.
After each sip a fine sweet sugary residue is left behind on the lips.
It's oily smooth and heavy in the mouth and aggressively bitter leading to abitter finish.
This is a great tasting beer and fits the west coast style well.
Perhaps, as mentioned before, I recieved a more aged bottle, but I think beer with an aroma as grand as this should follow with an equally grand taste. Maybe one year I'll get an opportunity to visit and drink one live.

This bottle is 6 months old so we'll see how it goes.
A: Pours hazy yellow with an orange hue. Huge, frothy, white head. This one is lively.
S: Slight citrus, grassy hops. Not all that aromatic and not nearly as hop forward as I like in an IPA.
T: Taste is malty and citrus hops. Again, hops are not as pronounced up front as I would like although they do show up in the form of a bitter finish.
M: Medium bodied and very lively. Slightly overcarbonated.
O: This one is a disappointment for me. Where are the hops in this West Coast IPA? Very average and forgettable, IMO. I definitely wanted to like this more. I'll have to try again with a fresher bottle.
