On tap at Pizza Port in Carlsbad, CA.
Pours a clear orange with a foamy beige head that settles to a ring of foam around the edges of the glass. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, herbal hops, and a funky aroma. Taste is much the same with a very mild bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty average beer and nothing too exciting in my opinion.

On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad.
A: Vibrant amber with a creamy white head.
S: Sweet apple with a hint of pear. Malt is redolent of toasted bread. Lightly sugary.
T: Lightly sweet grainy malt with a little apple. Bitterness is low. Very simple.
M: Lower medium in body with upper moderate carbonation.
Overall: A very simple beer that sells like crazy because of its simplicity. It's really hard to think too much about it.

On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad
A: Amber color with a pretty nice tan head. Good appearance.
S: Malty and sweet with just a touch of citrus hops. Smell was a bit faint.
T: This was by no means a bad beer, but there just wasn't a ton going on. Sweet malts and a bit of honey. Mouthfeel was a little thin for me.

A: poured an amber brown in color with yellow highlights and had a half finger of head leaving left plenty of lacing sticking to the glass.
S: had some nutty notes with citrus, various grains, and sweet malty aromas but had hints of malts.
T: The hops were also pretty mild on the palate but the nuttiness was definitely there alongside citrus accents and a good amount of sweetness from the malts.
M: The brew was medium in body with a good amount of carbonation which had a citrus, nutty, and malty finish.
D: Easy drinking brew that was very simple all around and was a sessionable brew for sure.

Had this on-tap at Pizza Port in San Clemente. Pours an amber colour with thin, yet thick, white head with some lacing on the glass. Smells of mild hops, with a ton of caramel malt. I can't overstate how malty this beer is. Very sweet flavour. Good carbonation level. A nice amber ale.

From the SDIBF, poured a solid red and amber, minimal head. Aroma was lacking.
Taste, smooth, yet with a decent enough hop kick to keep it interesting. A very sessionable red. Different from most Port offerings, they usually don't go down this path, everything is usually super something (hops, yeast, abv), this was a nice trip down the less worn path from Port. Caramel all over this one.

Draught at the brewpub. Dark amber-brown with a white head. Light caramel, herbal spice and light hops in the aroma. The flavor has toasty and light caramel malts with just balancing hops and a hempy spice. Medium-light body with medium carbonation. Nice balance of flavors with the addition of the hemp spiciness.

Served dry hopped on cask via a hand pump at the Pizza Port Carlsbad location on 3/15/09. Served in a pint glass.
Pours a clear coppery amber with a rigid finger of brite-white foam. This pretty much doesn't budge, with a massive flareup that just completely COATS the sides of the glass with creamy lacing. The aroma is quite mellow smelling with malts sweetness, a slight tang of citrus, and some floral and spicy hop accents.
The taste is prettty much exactly the same. A silky smooth base of bread and caramel malt sweetness, with a nice splash of citrus, and some gentle hop bitterness that actually feel like it's being held back a bit by the cask conditioning. The mouthfeel is lighter bodied with a creamy carbonation and easy feel that just seems to literally melt in the mouth with each sip. Wow, this goes down easy!
While this isn't the most assertive example of an Amber Ale, I think that being served on cask did more good (super easy feel and drinkibility) than bad (the cask seems to lessen the effects of the dry hopping). The only thing I know for sure, is that this literally went down like a glass of water but in a good way! More please!

Boring. Clear amber with no head. Buttery malt and grass. No real discernable flavor. Malt and some sort of plant that was neither hops nor hemp. Plays out like a marketing gimmick for dumb stoners. Flat and watery. There are MUCH better beers to choose from

On tap at the brewery. Aroma is clean, some malt and a little hop. A very light amber, almost a deep gold. Clavor is a clean malt profile with a touch of caramel in there. Medium bodied. Finishes dry. Not a ton of intensity to the flavors, but extremely drinkable. I can see why this is a best seller in house. A great pair to much of the food there.

On draft at Pizza Port San Clemente, 02/25/08.
Clear golden color with no active carbonation and no aroma in small taster glass.
Restrained, mellow malt character, no hoppiness to note. Slight corn on aftertaste. Mildly sweet. Did not note the promised hemp flavors or resiny texture.
Have had a hemp ale or two before and did not think this one measured up.

What no Dr. Dre references? Poured a clear amber to almost red color. Limited head although did remain through the tasting with limited lacing. The nose was limited but some caramel and biscuit aromas. A touch of oxidation and DMS. Not really much hop aroma at all. Felt more like a English Mild really.
The taste is more along the lines of an American Red. The malt comes out more with a nice caramel backing. Some grainy and husky flavors as well. The hop flavors come out more with of a earthy flavor that is finished with a light citrus taste. Some yeasty ester overtones as well. A touch of fruity but some yeasty finish flavors as well.
The body is light and could use some more thickening. Although does finish crisp but limited. Maybe undercarbonated. Overall a limited beer but easy to drink.

Pint from Pizza Port San Clemente
Pour was a super light brown with a golden hint
Smell was full of cream, mainly vanilla or more like half and half
Taste was not much like an amber, but had nice sweetness to go along with it
Could drink a lot of these, pretty light beer

Some amber colour with white head. A good bitter but I didn't really get the hemp taste, and I think that's a good thing. Like a decent, and slightly spicey-fruity amber. Citrus grapefruit. Decent mouthfeel that makes it drinkable and different. All of the lineup is nicely carbonated.

Much thanks to BeerRun13 for the excellent growler.
Ours a deep orange-amber with a huge frothy head and lots of lace. Tons of visible carbonation as well makes this look just about perfect. Smell is largely of bread and sweet caramel but is not overly strong. The taste is very grainy and bread like. Huge malts and a nice sugary caramel back. Clean finish, and huge carbonation. This is a very very drinkable beer that I would love to try on tap. Very fresh and not too thick. Just right, another goodie from Pizza Port.

Appearance: Copper orangeade, a thin ring of lace surrounded shy little head islands dancing in the center.
Smell: Almost a white wine acidic/fruity crispness in the nose, the hops eventually come out quite juicy, like sweet strawberries.
Taste: My first couple of sips didn't register much for me, carbonation was quite lively and it tasted pretty light, with a dry, if sudden finish. Very low hops. It did end up growing on me, enough to say that this is a pretty decent Beer that, granted, looks pretty pale next to the competiton at Pizza Port, but it would easily beat every other "Amber" ale I've had at just about every other brewpub I've been to in the States in a head-to-head tasting. At least this one smelled nice.

Another one I was very pleased with from Pizza Port.
Poured a clear dark copper color with good head and lace.
Nice aroma of malt and hops.
Clean and refreshing in the taste and mouth. Malty & hoppy. Also maybe a touch of caramel.
Very good all the way around and very, very drinkable.

Had this one at the Pizza Port of Carlsbad. Appearance was an amber color and didn't seem too spectacular. Smell didn't give away anything in regards to what I was getting into. Taste is exceptionally smooth and had a very subtle finish to it. It has a distinct taste that I just can't put my finger on. I wish I was better schooled at identifying the tastes that I come across so you well have to just take my word for it when I simply describe it as delightfully smooth. As far as session beers go I could imagine myself having many of these through a night. I even took home a half gallon jug and can't wait to crack it open. A tastey beer indeed.

Just a perfect session beer. Pours a nice medium deep amber with a thin white head.
Smell isn't too apparent; maybe I had a cold?
Fairly malty with a slight hop bite. Just really smooth.
Mouthfeel is medium heavy, and the drinkability is dangerous. This stuff goes down like water, but with a ton of flavor.
A great brew to order by the pitcher. Two people can go through it in a hurry without too many after effects!
One of my favorites at Pizza Port. Easy to see why it's about their best seller.

A nice all-malt entry highlights this ultra-clear brinze beauty with the eggshell white cap.
Midtaste is supported by a near perfect carbonation level and features a striking malt / hop balance. The finish is as sweet as a plum pie, making this brew a joy to sample.

I had this beer at Pizza Port in San Clemente on 10/2/04. It is served with a redish brown color and a lacy light tan head. The head retention is minimal as well. Sadly, there is no distinct sent to this beer apart from a faint hoppy scent. The flavor is sweet and sour with note of banana and light floral hops.

Draught @ Pizza Port Carlsbad
The beer pours clear amber with a portly off white head that is portly in size and frothy in texture, the resultant lace a fine coating upon the glass. Nose is sweet malt, crisp and clean, start is sweet and has a nice grain profile with the top middling in it feel. Finish has a pleasant acidic bite, the hops delectable in their spiciness, dry aftertaste a nice change of pace from those monster IPAs I have been drinking.

Draught @ San Clemente Location: This one was a sort of coppery/amber color. It was fairly clear. There was not much head to it. The aroma was alright, with a hint of sweetness. The taste had an almost lager-like smoothness to it. It was sweet, with a decent hop bite in the aftertaste. Very Good!

Sampled on tap at the Carlsbad brewpub.
This red ale (with hemp) poured a clear, deep, amber color with white foam that settled and clung to the glass a bit. The smell was very modest but there was a hint of malt. The taste was malty and tangy with a hint of bitterness (hemp?), a touch of bread, and some hoppiness in the finish. The mouthfeel was tangy with medium body and good carbonation. Overall this ale was dry. There were lingering hop and hemp bitter flavors in the finish and aftertaste. This was a good, easy to drink beer. I enjoyed it.

Medium amber color. Small head. Aroma is malty and sweet. A medium bodied amber brewed with hemp seed. Malts are nutty and sweet. Touch of butterscotch. Hops are slightly spicy. Nicely balanced. Smooth taste. Fairly light, crisp and refreshing. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
