One of my good friends had been pumping up how money the Full Sail Brewery was and I just kept nodding my head not answering for weeks. I grew up here in Portland and have seen the brand since I started quaffing the nectar. Maybe I had it when I was too young to know or maybe it could of been a beer of pops but I didn't give them much respect.
After visiting the homey atmosphere of the brewery and tasting a number of their beers I have changed my tune. The ceilings seemed a little low but other than that it was comfortable and the wood all around was nice. It also had a beautiful view of the Columbia River.
The quality was very good. I sat at the bar and bent the ear of one of the tenders who happened to be a brewer so it was great to talk to someone who was in the know. He was very knowledgeable and could speak to the intricacies of the brews. I had four different varieties of some tapped beer and they were all excellent. I think they had over 12 beers on tap and the Nitro Wassail was money. The best part about it was they were $3 a pint. I will definitely go back hopefully when the sun is shining so I can sit on the deck.

Amazing view of the Columbia River Gorge.
Pretty attentive and friendly service.
I really enjoyed my steak sandwich at very reasonable prices.
I see 17 beers on tap.
I would recommend going here. I had a great lunch, and then I hung around for the afternoon.
I recommend the tour. This brewery has a great history.

First of all one of the better tours I've been on was here, as you got both the history of the brewery and also a somewhat more detailed account of what goes into beer (generally on tours I get one or the other). I visited the brewpub the night before the tour and judging by the staff initially it seemed to be highbrow... a perception that was misguided. Struck up some healthy conversations with the locals and tried a great barrel aged beer amongst others in a solid line up. I liked the selection which seemed to have a few rarities, but considering their beer isn't sold in Wisconsin I'm unsure. I really appreciate the grass roots basis on which the brewery stands and hope to one day regularly buy their beers. For now though, I will have the memory of a pleasant visit to one of Oregons most finest breweries.

While visiting Portland for the Summer Brew Festival, we drove the 40 some miles eastward along the Columbia to the Full Sail Brewery. It was well worth the drive. The food was good and we were able to view the wind surfing on the Columbia River from our table. We were able to venture outside onto the patio deck to catch some fresh air, even though it smelled good inside from the brewing taking place. We also took the tour of the brewery, which was very informative and well-coordinated. We sampled most of the beers and each one was great. If you're in Portland, make the drive to Hood River. You won't regret it.

I visited this place on 3/23/2010.
This pub is basically a medium sized space carved from the corner of the Full Sail brewery in Hood River. Despite that, the atmosphere was pretty good.
The beers were plentiful and for the most part very good. I can't get Full Sail back in Illinois, so they were mostly all new to me. Had a sampler plus a few pints. The hoppy beers were decent but nothing over the top. The session lagers and the malty beers were generally better, with the RIS standing out as the best of the night.
Service was friendly and prices ranged from surprisingly low to medium.
The food was also quite good. I had the fish sandwich and it rocked.
All in all a don't miss spot if you are anywhere near Hood River.

Whenever I'm in the area, I look for an opportunity to visit the Hood River pub. I try to get a table at the window overlooking the Columbia river and the gorge walls on the Washington side. It's a nice but not spectacular view since the brewery and other commercial building are between the pub and the river.
The room is of moderate size and always looks clean and well kept. The bar is functional but not flashy.
The food is good and I typically will get the Full Sail Burger or the Tempeh Veggie Burger.
The host/hostess, bartenders and waitstaff have always been as friendly as can be. Big thumbs up for them.
I've reviewed their beers elsewhere but suffice it to say, I'm always pleased with the seasonal selections and the mainstays.
Great beer, good food, good view and a killer staff make this a fun stop. Wish I could get their beers in my homestate of Pennsylvania.

This was my third free-form (go where ever without a real schedule) trip to Oregon, and my traveling companion's first trip there where I introduced her to Full Sail Beers & Ales. After looping the state down the coast, then Crater Lake, then back up through Bend, on to Hood River we found ourselves at the Full Sail Brewery a little late for the tour so we settled into the Pub for some food and of course something to drink.
It was a quiet Fall afternoon on a weekday and we were the only ones in the pub. Our beertender/waitress was very friendly, knowledgeable about Full Sail, and helpful in helping us sample a variety of brews. I had a pretty tasty sandwich and everything was very reasonably priced. I couldn't resist picking up a set of Pub Glasses while I was there. The view of the Columbia River is beautiful, even on a somewhat gray and blustery day. I will be going back again the next time I'm flying in or out or Portland as it isn't that far (about 60 miles, or about an hour) from PDX airport on a gorgeous drive (with scenic waterfalls) out I-84 to the scenic town of Hood River and the Full Sail Brewery.
Well worth the visit.

The tasting room at the Hood River brewery overlooks the highway and the magnificent Columbia River. Friendly and knowledgable service, generous tastings of thier regulars, seasonals, and specials. The notable on my visit was the fantastic 2004 imperial porter. A small menu of tasty items also caters to the health-conscious and vegans, with choices like the tempeh burger. We found the food to be quite good, especially the whole whequesidilla, served with excellent pico de gallo, black beans and sour cream . An assortment of Full Sail gifts are available...T shirts, frisbee golf discs, glasses, bombers. A great place to visit.

First off, this place has just an awesome view of the Gorge. The lead in from a brewery tour is an awesome transition. There is an abundance of merchandise and beer to buy. The staff is friendly and the service is good.
There was a decent selection of beer on tap when I visited. Session Black had just been released. Out of the taster tray I had nothing let me down. Even the standard Amber was spot on.
Met a group of friends here who were headed home for a concert. We had a great time and tried just about everything on tap after a brewery tour which was top notch. Tons of detail and impressive bottling line and warehouse!

We decided to swing by and check Full Sail out on a recent trip through the Columbia River Gorge. We got there just before the start of a brewery tour so we figured that would be a good way to start things off. The tour was the standard tour (Show some tanks, show some ingredients, show some packaging equipment, done). The girl giving the tour is the daughter of an employee on a summer internship (I believe). She was pleasant and admitted that she didn't know too much but would try to find out the answer to any questions she couldn't. Pleasantly surprised, after the tour which took 20 minutes or so, we all received a wooden token for a free pint glass. Very cool and unexpected. Also, its a pretty big operation producing over 100,000 bbls/year. Which is amazing because I have never heard of them until 30 minutes for we hit Hood River.
After the tour, we decided to sit down and try an assortment of their beers since we had never had them. The server was knowledgeable and helpful. Several of our group decided on samplers and others just a pint or two. The server when asked about the samplers explained that it is 7 samples (5 regulars and 2 of the 5brewmaster selections). When asked if it was possible to get the other 3 brewmaster selections, she said sure. Value is very good. Pints were cheap, samplers with cheap and we weren't charged for the extra brewmaster selections in the sampler. Free pint glass with a quick 20 minutes tour. Very cool place.
The outside deck which looks out over the river (and the wind surfers) seems to be the place to sit in the nice summer sun. Good crowd and good vibe. We didn't have any food as we were planning dinner somewhere else and no one was particularly hungry. Menu seemed pretty extensive but I can't speak to it.
I would recommend to anyone a visit to the Full Sail Brewery and to sit on the deck and enjoy some nice weather and some wonderful beers.
