This slowdown has been great for cranking out the backlogged reviews.
Poured brown. Thicker than the most famous brown ale. Was a big head producer, brought the full on off white/beige colored head. Aroma of nuttiness (commercial style checks out), chocolate, coffee, was surprised how layered and diverse the aroma was here.
Taste brought on a little bit of raisin like flavor and astringency. Still nuttiness is the biggest mover and shaker going on here. Smooth mouth feel, important to style especially. Hints of earth. Toffee and rose hips. High carbonation gives it a soda like presence which aesthetically wasn't helping itself in that regard either. Mild unsweetened, caramel. Very mild. Like what goes into/out of peanut brittle. With darker nuts.
The older I get, the more I've come to appreciate nut brown ales, so I'd give this another whirl if given the chance, Full Sail is always affordable.

This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a nice looking hazy brown color with a two finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated within about a good full minute. The lacing was somewhat clingy. The smell was full of rich nutty and coffee like aromas intermingling quite well. The taste was mainly malty sweet and roasty adding in some light inviting chocolates, ccaramel, toffee and a light vanilla. There was a nice light roasty chocolate nutty coffee - like aftertaste that lead into a dry finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was there but it was kinda creamy, smooth and roasty. Overall, wow, what a nice brown ale well worthy of having again.

Pours a clear brown with ruby tones when held the light. The pour produces 1.5+ fingers of frothy, tan, shortlived head that leaves a slim ring of pasty lacing. Aroma is dark malt, fresh cut pumpernickel, milk chocolate & roasted nuts. Taste is full & robust: fronted by toasted brown bread, cocoa, roast & nuts with brown sugar & raisins at the mid-sip & finishing caramel & bitter with burnt hints & smoke. Aftertaste is burnt bread, bitter cocoa & caramel. Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation, smooth & creamy with little spice bite.

Bottle from Boise Co-op. Pours out dark, but clear brown with soft, silky beige head. Roast malts are featured in the aroma, taste is more malt with a touch of molasses sweetness. All rounded out with a some nutty undertones. Smooth, mildly bitter, easy drinker.

Pours to a nice buff head that lasts. Clear medium brown color. Aroma is brown sugar, molasses, bread, nuts, and a bit of alcohol. No hops discernable. Flavor is malty, crisp, slightly sweet and bready more than nutty. Clean slightly toffee finish. Mouthfeel is medium and "smooth". Low CO2 feels nice. A very good American Brown.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a deep brown color with a one finger head of cream colored foam. The head has a moderate level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a tiny bit of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell- The aroma of the brew is light overall, consisting mainly of some sweeter caramel and a little bit of roast. Along with these smells comes a little bit of nut and a hint of coffee.
Taste – The taste begins with a sweeter roasted malt flavor mixed with a little bit of a nutty taste. As the taste advances the roastiness decreases to some extent, all the while being replaced by more caramel sweetness and taking on a more rich nutty taste. With a little bit of a brown bread taste and a hint of grain that come at the end, one is left with a rather sweet and smooth nut brown flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is average and has a carbonation level that is actually a little high for a nut brown ale. I would have liked a bit less carbonation and a bit more body for the style, but even with that said the feel was not bad, and the thinner and more carbonated style did do a decent job for the sweeter caramel tastes of the beer overall.
Overall – An easy drinking and fairly sweeter nut brown. Not a bad brew overall.
