"Our Amber is a sweet, malty, medium-bodied ale with a spicy, floral hop finish. It's brewed with 2-row Pale, Crystal and Chocolate malts. And we hop it with Mt. Hoods and Cascades. We're as proud of it today as we were back in '89. And over the years it's earned 14 Gold Medals. Not that we're keeping track or anything.

On tap at Fuzzy's Taco Shop in Sugar Land, Texas
First beer I've had from Full Sail.
This beer had more hop bitterness at the finish than I am used to from most amber beers. It's still really good... and for some that would make it awesome.. for me.. who isn't a huge hops fan... it made it just ok.
I can tell there is lots of quality in this beer. Initial taste and smell was great, I just didn't love the slightly flowery and bitter finish as much.

A solid amber from Full Sail. It pours a dark red body with a really thick foamy head. Strong malt presence plays with some hops and a caramel & fruity flavor to boot. I think it's a pretty good beer, not one of the best ambers out there, but one that's worth trying.

Appearance: Solid red with a decent head and great lacing. A bit flat-looking though.
Smell: Nice roasted nuts. Heavier on the malty notes than the hoppy ones.
Taste/Mouthfeel: I wish I could say this tasted like roasted nuts, but really, they've been burned. I can especially taste this in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is also quite watery, which definitely doesn't help the flavor.
Overall Drinkability: If I had judged this book by its cover, I would have liked it a lot. However, the important parts don't hold water.

Clear amber colour with a creamy white head. Fair head retention. Some lacing.
Nutty toasted malt with a touch of spicy hop. Okay.
Smooth and flavourful malt without being overly sweet. Nice floral finish. Good.
Medium body with moderately-low carbonation.
A really quite solid amber ale with good flavour and a nice hoppy finish.

This is one bangin' beer, I had high expectations going in and the beer impressed me even further. Poured nice and amber with big thick tan head, thick lace drags down the glass. Big malt smell with light fruity aromas mingled in. The taste is great, biscuity, light leaf and citrus hopping. Again, big malt occurring in the taste, with some definite, caramel malts to chew on. The body of the beer is where I become further impressed, it's so thick, so smooth, so creamy, it's almost as if it's on nitro, but it's not. Feels like a big boozer as well, but it's only 5.5%. Excellent amber.

Enjoyed on tap, inside a chilled shaker pint.
Perfectly clear dark purplish-amber, topped with a creamy one-finger head of frothy tan foam with great retention. Nice speckled walls of lace decorate the glass as I drink.
The nose is filled with a nice citric hoppiness balanced by nutty malts, caramel, peanut skins and popcorn.
The aroma translates nicely to the flavor. Substantial hops, both spicy and citrusy. Honey, caramel, peanuts, toasty bread and some floral notes also make appearances.
Medium carbonation produces moderate fizziness amidst a smooth medium-light body. Crisp finish.
Good balance. This is one of Full Sail's more palatable and drinkable brews.

my second full sail brew. This should be a treat on draft
A- a good hearty looking reddish amber brew with a nice head. Very hearty looking
S- an absolute malt fest with toasty themes flaring through and sweetness as well. This is one good scent profile
T- delicious sweet malt that is very tasty. This is one good amber ale
M- medium bodied and full of flavor
D- Full Sail Amber is absolutely delicious. Sweet and toasty flavors make it very drinkable. Wow this was good on tap! I am going to have to grab a sixer

$5.50 @ The Old Spot, Salem MA
Bright ruby red amber color with a tight white head. Sheets of lace despite poor retention.
Aroma is cherry cough drop and orange peel. Mild toasted bread but mainly fruit.
Taste is similarly fruity with orange syrup and maraschino cherry taking the lead. Again, more toasted bread would be appreciated. Despite all the fruity esters mouthfeel isn't as juicy some amber ales - which is a good thin IMO.

S - Roasted sweet malts, figs and some other undetermined fruits.
T - Sweet caramel upfront with nutty flavor and slightly hoppy finish.
M - Medium bodied with medium carbonation and crisp dry finish.
D - Very good amber ale that I would love to have in the future.

On tap at the Full Sail Brewery in Hood River, OR. The colour was, well.... amber. Oh, and there was very little head. The aroma was rather uneventful. Suffices to say that I could detect some malt that was rather musty, but that was about it! On the palate, again, nothing exceptionally good, nor remotely good. Rather blah and largely unremarkable!

I first had this beer in 2008 in Utah of all places. Park City. I was there for a conference. And I really liked it. Fortunately, we can now get some of the Full Sail brews in Texas. Yee-haw.
Straight from my kegerator to a DFH barrel pint glass. Huge three-finger head; thick and clumpy; really good lace. The color is, of course, a nice orange/amber color. The head on this beer is really the reason I rate this a 4; it's fantastic. The nose is light and fruity. Strawberry notes dance with malty apple and pear. A casual aroma. Nothing in your face about it. Simple enough to be perfect for the style. The taste follows suit here, providing a light-hearted, fruity beer that delivers without being pretentious. Slightly grassy with a sweet caramel hint as well. Faint hop character rounds things out in the end. Mouthfeel is thinnish and kind of watery, but finishes nice and dry.
I really like this beer. There's nothing overtly fancy about it, but it's a solid, tasty, well-crafted beer. Totally sessionable at 5.50% as well. This would go well with plenty of dishes, but I'm thinking it makes a great companion for a greasy burger or a rich chicken sandwich. Light and fruity. A great spring or summer session beer.

On tap at Callahan's, San Diego
Pours a clear amber orange color. Has a smooth, light, off-white head. Malty aroma with a bit of light spices. Light, spicy aroma. Similar flavor with a bit of a citrus element. Smooth and light bodied with minimal carbonation. Though not a very exciting offering, still very drinkable and a nice beer.

Had this on tap at kinfolks after a fairly lengthy hike
Poured caramel/chestnut with 1 finger of offwhite head. Good lacing & head retention
S: Sweet malt & breadyness
T: Sweey malt, a hint of choclate & caramel up front. Earthy hops surface along with a little grainyness as this warms. Finishes bready, sweet & a little hoppy & dry
Medium bodied, great balance & near perfect carbonation
Drinks pretty easy, another winner from a pretty good oregon brewery. Nothing earthshattering, here, just solid across the board

Appearance: clear dark amber in color with a one finger head that falls quickly to a thick surface foam. Mild lacing develops.
Smell: brown sugar sweetness with some nuts and fruits. More aroma than most other ambers.
Taste: strong fruitiness here, with toasted nuts, brown sugar, wrapped in a nice bready malt. Little bitterness.
Mouthfeel: smooth at the start and finish. Medium bodied. Very brief aftertaste.
Drinkability: a great session amber. This can be enjoyed all alone or with a meal. Worth having.

Tap@ The Edinborough Castle, San Fransisco. fairly simple, but very drinkable. Nutty soft malts, with aromtic US hops in the finish, this is one of the better ambers youll find. Not bad. (Tap@The Pilsner Room (Full Sail), Portland. Same opinion as a bove.

Standard pacific northwest offering from a employee owned brewery. I had this in a restaurant and it came essentially headless, lace was very sparse. Deep color is attractive and mouthfeel was slightly creamy. Nice hoppy taste in the west coast tradition and drinkability was good. Could see knocking back a few of these under the right circumstances.

I had this on tap and it's always harder to remember then write. Not much of a head. Amber color. Both malt and hops quite noticable with the bitterness of the hops the greater flavor and the lingering taste. Mouthfeel maybe a litte thin. I certainly don't regret trying it, but may order something else next time.

Full Sail Amber has a thin-to-medium, off-white head and a slightly bubbly, clear, amber appearance, with a bit of lacing left behind. The aroma is of sweet, fruity, brown-bread malt, and the flavor is of those elements with a pleasant hop bitterness at the end of the sip. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Full Sail Amber finishes semi-dry, refreshing, and easy drinking. Overall, this is a most excellent beer. RJT

Nice auburn color, clear, good lasting 1 finger head and pretty good lacing.
It's a malty one, nicely so, with some caramel, toffee, biscuit. Hops are accenting but plentiful and more notable on the aftertaste than the initial drink.
Body is medium, with smooth carbonation and a good malty finish.
A very enjoyable beer, definitely a nice amber ale.

I poured this lovely beer in to a pint glass, I am not sure if this is the traditional choice for an amber ale but boy did it work. Right off the bat, it produced a very nice creamy and aromatic head. The initial taste is slightly sweet and malty, pure yummy. The beer does have a rather strong hoppy aftertaste for my personal choice, but that is not uncommon amongst this type of beer. This is definitely a very good quality beer. Pair is nicely with a flavorful curry or some grilled spicy meat. Not outstanding, a very good price and a great pair for flavorful food, try it!

Mixed and matched this one for $1.75
A - Pours a very dark amber brown, probably because of the chocolate malts. The head is a solid 1/2 inch that sticks around with great lacing.
S - Biscuit malts, floral hops, and some herbal tea. Smells of mild caramel or toffee as well.
T - Very good crisp body. Flavors of sweet caramel malts, then toasted biscuit, followed by some citrus hops is great. The herbal tea flavor works its way into the finish as well which is actually quite refreshing.
M - Light to medium and crisp in taste. A great session ale.
Overall between this and the IPA I think I am loving this brewery. Worthy of a 10 dollar mixed six pack.
