Notes:
"Our Amber is a sweet, malty, medium-bodied ale with a spicy, floral hop finish. It's brewed with 2-row Pale, Crystal and Chocolate malts. And we hop it with Mt. Hoods and Cascades. We're as proud of it today as we were back in '89. And over the years it's earned 14 Gold Medals. Not that we're keeping track or anything.

I first had this beer in 2008 in Utah of all places. Park City. I was there for a conference. And I really liked it. Fortunately, we can now get some of the Full Sail brews in Texas. Yee-haw.
Straight from my kegerator to a DFH barrel pint glass. Huge three-finger head; thick and clumpy; really good lace. The color is, of course, a nice orange/amber color. The head on this beer is really the reason I rate this a 4; it's fantastic. The nose is light and fruity. Strawberry notes dance with malty apple and pear. A casual aroma. Nothing in your face about it. Simple enough to be perfect for the style. The taste follows suit here, providing a light-hearted, fruity beer that delivers without being pretentious. Slightly grassy with a sweet caramel hint as well. Faint hop character rounds things out in the end. Mouthfeel is thinnish and kind of watery, but finishes nice and dry.
I really like this beer. There's nothing overtly fancy about it, but it's a solid, tasty, well-crafted beer. Totally sessionable at 5.50% as well. This would go well with plenty of dishes, but I'm thinking it makes a great companion for a greasy burger or a rich chicken sandwich. Light and fruity. A great spring or summer session beer.

Full Sail Amber has a thin-to-medium, off-white head and a slightly bubbly, clear, amber appearance, with a bit of lacing left behind. The aroma is of sweet, fruity, brown-bread malt, and the flavor is of those elements with a pleasant hop bitterness at the end of the sip. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Full Sail Amber finishes semi-dry, refreshing, and easy drinking. Overall, this is a most excellent beer. RJT
