Went on a sunny Munich Thursday for lunch.
It is a ice deck overlooking the Kleinhesseloher See. It is a pretty unique view, though the water is pretty damn green and murky.
It is cafeteria-style. I got a half of a Schweinehaxe, Kartoffelsalat, and Pommes. The Schweinhaxe was a bit overcooked but still okay, the Pommes was just standard, but the potato salad was great.
I got a half liter of Paulaner Helles, not one of my favorite Helles beers, kind of made me wish I got the Weissbier. They had about 4 different beer selections.
Like anywhere in Munich it is pretty expensive, though they forgot to but the pommes on my order which was nice.

Spent a wonderful summer evening at this beer garden recently. My son and I wound up here after a long hot day of walking around central Munich and dinner at the Chinese Tower. You can get there several different ways, but I recommend you make the walk - it's worth it! Good service and the usual Paulaner lineup of beers, but they are all very tasty. Like most places in the area, beer is consumed by the liter. Many of the tables are right along the lake. Catch it at sunset, if you can. If you've got the time, a must visit in Munich.

Much like it's English Garten cousin, Chinese Turm, the Seehaus is an absolutely wonderful place to go on a nice day in Munchen. The bier is paulaner, the food is high quality for self-service, and the sights are great. This tends to be more of a higher class site in the garten, since there is parking close by. But the best way to get there is by foot or bike through the park to come to the beautiful lake setting with many a swan in the lake. I had a few Paulaners there a few weeks back and had a wonderful time.
This is a must see and do in Munchen; enjoy it. Prosit!

THis is a great location, however, I wouldn't say that it is a Beer destination spot. It is in the English gardens, one of the main places to drink in the English Gartens.
Atmosphere depends on the weather. I went on a nice spring day. There's a bunch of picnic tables to sit on and engoy your Beers. You can rent a boat to go on the little pond there, which is inhabbited by swans and ducks and stuff.
Not much of a selection. Just A handful of Beers.
Food was ok, nothing special. The regular Bavarian fair, pretzels, sausages, etc

I stopped here on a Sunday afternoon while in Munich on business. The Beer Drinker's Guide to Munich gave Seehaus a 5-beer rating (the highest honor in the book), and included a coupon for 50% off a 1L beer. Actually, when I showed the coupon I was given a completely free beer, bonus!
The beer is Paulaner, and they had maybe 4 varieties to choose from (Helles, Weisse, and 2 others I can't remember but which weren't Salvator of Dunkel Weisse). I had the Helles 1L, not the greatest beer on earth but mighty nice on an afternoon in the park.
There were hundreds of seats at picnic tables, protected from the sun by a mixture of chestnut trees and large umbrellas. The food was Bavarian style (sausages, pretzels, whole chickens, radishes, etc) and you served yourself, same as the beer. I rated myself a 3 for service.
I'd say this was a nice stop, especially if you're visiting the Englischer Garten. But overall this was not close to my favorite beer garden in Munich (and with somewhere near 100 to choose from, I will likely not be back to Seehaus again).

I visited Seehaus beer garden after spending some time at the Chinesischer Turm, a pleasant walk away. Seehaus is a bit smaller though still large. It lacked the music that I found at Chinesischer Turm, but it scores points for its lovely location right on a lake. There are many more chestnut trees here, as well, giving the garden a much more shaded atmosphere. The seating was on picnic tables.
The beers at Seehaus are provided by Paulaner. The number of beers offered is not huge in number, but when you are drinking liters, how much variety do you need?
I had a couple of pretzels here, and they were good, though not hot, and the radish was also tasty.
There is a side area for kids, and there is an indoor restaurant as well.
Definitely take the half kilometer walk from Chinesischer Turm when you visit the Englischer Garten, and stop in at Seehaus. You won't be disappointed.

Located right on the banks of a very nice lake (Kleinhesselohe See) filled with swans and boats, this place carried an exceptional beauty. This alone earns a 5 in the atmosphere column, even though there were no people singing songs or doing the types of things you'd see in Hofbrauhaus.
The beer here is Paulaner, there was no Salvator though. You've got to go to Paulaner am Nockherberg behind the brewery for that. But for an afternoon stop through the Englischer Garten this place is a great place to visit. The food selection was fantastic here. The only drawback to this establishment would be that it is a bit pricey, especially if you plan to have a meal here. An alternative would be the Chinesischer Turm located at the other end of the Englischer Garten. Both are excellent stops to take a break and enjoy a few beers.
EDIT: Looking back I would take the Chinesischer Turm over here when you're in the English Garden. More people atmosphere there and cheaper prices. I'm lowering my atmosphere rating.
