this bottle from a trade with Absumaster in NL, thanks again for the first batch of dutch beers!
pours very dark copper/orange with a very small (3mm) light tan head. nose is very malty, a bit dry, slightly sweet, and a bit bready. overall very attractive on the nose, if my description doesn't convey that. Curiously, ingredients include E150c, which single malt scotch drinkers might recognize as an artificial colorant(?).
taste is sweeter than the nose, a bit dry, with some hint of a very dark sugary or sweet taste. This is quite distinct from a belgian brune or dubbel, and works quite well.
Overall a very pleasant beer. Until I scrolled up to make a comment on the alcohol I had assumed this was a 5-6% beer based on taste. I had absolutely NO idea this was a ten-percent ABV beer! You cannot tell at all.

Bought two bottles of this, because I normally do not rate based on 1. Certainly not with smaller companies and bottle yeasted beers.
But I have tasted enough after half a botllte of this.
Very sad that Ab Inbev was Heinekenized the Arcener Stoombrouwerij. This is artificial rubish. Far too sweet, why added
colarant, sugar and wheat starch? Gaurantee for headache. My second bottle goes in the bin.
Sad, Very Sad. Arcener used to be a top lager producing company in The Netherlands. And not alls their beers are bad what they do now? What is the idea with this shite? This is a guarantee for headaches, This is not worth rating. Ridiculous.

En fin Quadubbel, hælder mørk. Maltet med en klassisk belgisk gær aroma, lidt sødlig, nogenlunde fyldig.

Shared 300 ml bottle at local tasting, from Voldby Købmandsgaard. ABV is 10%. Very dark brown colour, large beige head. Strong malty aroma, notes of molasses and brown kandij sugar, some alcohol, Lovely and well balanced flavour, malty but not too sweet, brown kandij sugar and oak, notes of dark dried fruits, some mild spicy notes.

I had high hopes from this beer but in the end little disappointed me.. I love "Quardrupel" beers and i give a try to this because has this style and also some good ratings but in the end i get something different that i'm used to get from this style..
First of all the aroma is the ordinary for that style.. Lot of caramel and chocolate in there. Also remind me little the aroma of "Het Anker gouden carolus imperial dark".. But the taste was little weird.. I'm used to get some sweet taste from "Quad" beers but this has a lot sour taste inside and less sweetness.. Also the alcohol is very noticeable and hit you in the palate.. And i get very dry taste in my mouth..
Overall is ok beer.. Has some "Quad" character but can't touch the stardards of the good and classic beers on that style..
