Milds Davis - A Dark English Mild Ale, categorized as a "session" beer, meaning you can enjoy a few of them without falling out of your bar stool. Our English Mild is dark in color with Chocolate and Caramel malts in the malt bill. This ale is hopped with East Kent Golding hops and comes in at 3.8%ABV. Dark, Smooth and Easy Drinking.

Appearance: Arrives a robust-looking dark, hazed sienna, very dark in fact, with an amazingly persistent tan head. The head sticks around for the entirety of the experience, leaving even after the last sip a fat half finger of head sitting at the bottom of the glass. The lacing along the sides of the glass is equally attractive, fluffy, with spiderweb-like fingers and strands clinging after each sip. Quite nice.
Aroma: Very aromatic. You can detect the darker malts immediately, suggesting spicy toffee, toast, cocoa, and glassy caramel notes. They mingle with the herbal and spicy hops to suggest fruit cake-like spicy notes, along with hints of cherry and raisin. Very inviting.
Taste: Less appealing in the mouth, though perhaps that's to be expected from a 3.8% mild. It's a little watery, on the whole, and a lot of the dark roastiness present in the nose is hard to pull out here. Crackery, with a few dashes of toast and toffee and a slathering of green fruits.
Mouthfeel: Very smooth and creamy, with a nice amount of lift though not too much by any means. The whole feel actually reminds me somewhat of a cask beer - that is, it's immaculately even, smooth, velvety, with a subtle amount of lift and very little discernible carbonation.
Drinkability: Save for the shocking discrepancy between the aroma and the taste, this one - all of 3.8% abv tall - would have gotten a 4.5. As it stands, it definitely gets a 4.0, though I suppose if I imbibed through my nose it probably would have gotten that 4.5. If they could find a way to beef up the flavor profile on this one, I might move to Wilmington. Not half bad (and I love the name - it seems many breweries are on a MDDIII kick as of late).
