The Golden Flounder
APPEARANCE: 22oz bomber, pours a clear yellow with a bubbly head.
SMELL: Reasonably hop forward nose, full of cascade hops giving off piney, floral, herbal aromatics. There is a hint of sweetness.
TASTE: Bitter, lemony hop and wheat malts. Well balanced neither too sweet or bitter, finishes with a note of wheat. Light, crisp, clean and simple. There is nothing wrong with this beer; it's a very nice representation of the style.
FEEL: Light bodied, light spritzy carbonation, soft feel. This is ultra drinkable.
OVERALL: Buzzard Bay Brewing in Westport, MA takes credit for brewing this beer with printing on the label, but it is now defunct. Whoever brewed this, I think they did a hell of a job. This won't make my mind melt, but is refreshing, and I kind of knew that going into it. For under $5.00, nobody loses.

Reviewed blind as part of Blind BIF 7, courtesy of ShogoKawada.
A - Perfectly crystal clear golden orange, with very full, thick head that becomes chunky as it slowly drops. It leaves solid sheets of lacing and has effervescent carbonation throughout. I can't think of a single way this could look better.
S - Not much aroma at all, really. Some bready malt and grassy hops, and maybe some Belgiany esters? What's there smells tasty, but I'd like not to have to reach for it.
T - A slightly sweet malt backbone, but mostly those grassy hops. It's a pretty simple beer, in all.
M - Medium mouthfeel, with moderate carbonation. Solid.
Overall, this seems like a decent IPA or hoppy pale ale, not sure which. Nothing too exciting, but certainly not bad.
Non-blind thoughts:
Its description is far more complex than its flavor, but nonetheless, this was tasty! And seriously, a really gorgeous beer.

Pours a peach cloudy golden apricot hue of hazed wheat beer with cloudy white head, fine speckled lacing around the rim of the glass as I take my first sip. Aroma brings out citrus, grass, leafy, herbal hop notes with sharp lemon citrus qualities, nice hops flowing with big sharp wheat notes. Flavor has a bright lemon citrus quality wrapped around hops, citrus, floral, earthy hops, coming flowing in, a nice find of an Americanized wheat ale. Mouthfeel has bitter citrus rinds in the finish of each sip, dry character in this medium bodied, smoothly carbonated summer style beer with a kick. Low alcohol designed to drink a couple of these this summer while enjoying life, overall classic appealing people need to brew more of this type of beer.

Pours a crystal clear straw pale watery color that I would expect more from a pilsner than a pale wheat, with a slight fizzy 1/2 finger head and light lacing.
Nose has some crisp ale aromas that almost liken again to lager, light fruits from similar to a lager, some straw malts and wheat aromas, light floral and fruity hops, and mild grassy hops.
taste comes with some sweet malts, light crisp and almost toasty rustic straw malts and some light wheat flavors, light fruits from the yeast again, light banana, then some mild hops, slight bitterness, bringing some light grassy and floral hops, hints of fruity hops. Finishes a bit more bitter, and some lingering light hop flavors and a bit sticky sweetness.
Mouth is med to slightly lighter bodied, decent carb.
Overall not bad, sessionable, light and drinkable, could have done a bit more on the hops, the malts were nice but very light on the wheats, and some lager like flavors which were interesting. doesn't have much going on there.

I have to say, it just isn't my style. I have had samples of iit numerous times on tap while waiting for growlers to fill and I always opt out. I don't go for beers brewed with wheat very often, and this light-golden beer is just too wheaty for my taste.
Though it isn't my flavor, I do notice that the flavors are balanced and, as is typical of Just Beer, it is light enough to drink all day but flavorful enough to hand out to friends as a premium brew. The cost is exceptional, at about $2 per bomber when purchased by the case.
I would recommend this to anyone who likes Blue Moon, Shocktop, or Leinenkugel Wheat. It is much better quality than the mass-market brews and will certainly make you feel good to help out a local brewery who is doing it the old fashioned way - self distribution, self promotion and focusing on quality.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.
A: The beer is a bight gold color, with a short off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.
S: The aroma contains citrus, wheat, caramelized malts and a good amount of hops.
T: The taste starts out with mildly bready flavors of wheat and a hearty but not too heavy malt character. Then some sweet flavors of citrus and caramel quickly follow. Then a hops presence is decent for the style and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet and slightly bready.
M: Smooth and crisp, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.
D: Tasty, goes down very easily, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, this is a solid poundable lighter beer that is worth drinking for a long time.

Clear golden yellow in color with a one inch white head that slowly falls. Smells grassy, mild crisp hops as well as light sweet malt.
The taste is sweet malt, a little caramel, wheat with a crisp hop finish. Dry aftertaste. The body is light/medium with medium carbonation. A fairly smooth drink. Overall not a complicated brew but a pleasant all day drinker.

22oz. bottle served in my SA Perfect Pint. Pours a translucent orange-gold with a loose, half inch, bright white head. Mild nose - mostly cereal grains and a slightly buttery sweet quality. Taste consistent with nose; however some light, hops bittering creates a nice balance to the flavor profile. A slightly metallic quality also comes out behind the buttery sweet at the end. Mouthfeel is light bodied and lively and nicely cleanses the palate. A very simple and sessionable APA and a great value at less than three dollars a bomber.

A: Golden straw in color with a three finger head that lingers. Cloudy from top to bottom. Excellent effervecensce
S: distinct aroma of orange and grapefruit with a hint of sharp wheat.
T: Smooth wheat taste predominates with a faint hint of citrusy hops. Not bad, but not very memorable either
M: For a wheat beer, the carbonation is lacking. The medium-light body is right on. If the carbonation was higher the mouthfeel would be spot-on.
D: Although unimpressive, this is a very refreshing, drinkable beer. While unimpressive, I would definitely drink this beer again if it was presented to me.

a: pours a hazy (unfiltered) golden color with a decent head. i like the fact that it's unfiltered. looks good.
s: grassy, grainy nose. slight lemongrass notes from the hops, great wheat character. biscuit aroma is also recognizable.
t: crisp, refreshing flavor. strong wheat character gives this brew a nice body, the hops add a great piny/lemony character. finishes very clean. an excellent session beer.
m&d: average mouthfeel; drinkability is excellent. this mmy favorite summer brew at the moment.
i loved it. it basically tasted like john beere (aka Farmer's Pride), but with a good heaping addition of wheat and an stronger kick of ranch grown hops. it's also a steal at 19.99 a case of 22oz bombers!
