Only place I've seen Stickee Monkee and Agave Maria on tap and for only $6 a glass!! Total dive bar with fantastic rare beers. Sometimes they crank the tunes way too loud. Wish they would update their tap list online more often!

This place is dark, a little grimey. They play creepy/weird movies that will simultaneously transfix and disgust you. It's small, and the line at the pool table is often long. The people inside are mostly local San Diego punk dudes. The definition of a dive. I preface with all of this so people will have a good idea what to expect, and then I say this: this is my favorite bar in the world. The tap list is better than at 95% of the beer bars you'll find, diverse and all extremely high quality. The jukebox is the best in San Diego, a mixture of old punk, garage, and soul. No food? No problem, fellow north park gem Luigis pizza is next door. If you're going on a beer tour of San Diego, hit the classy breweries and ale houses throughout the evening, and then stumble into this place at the end of the night. You will not be disappointed.

Stopped in for a few brews based upon the good reviews here. They had a pool table in use. There was a friendly customer telling us about some of the beers. Unfortuneately for me and my friend, the tap handles were on the back wall and hard to read. As far as we could tell, there were about 20 handles of a good cross section of high quality beers. There was no beer list. Friendly bartender. We enjoy a couple and the bartender said while they had no food, there was a pizzeria a couple doors away we could bring in food from there. Neighborhoods a bit rough, while we were waiting for our taxi to return to squad cars arrived in a pincer movement and with lights flashing to do something in back.

if you are in any way an eclectic person this is the place for you. super divey, no food that i saw, about 13 tap handles, pool tables, good music and good company. this IS NOT a beer advocate bar, this is a go to a bar that just happens to have awesome beers, and have a good time! the majority of which are san diego locals, which is fine by me! the few that they had from out of town were spaten and paulaner...i guess they're sort of way out of town.

bottom line, this looks like the type of place that you'd see people walking out of bloodied and beaten, but this isn't that place at all. this is a late night grab a quick pint, who cares about rating a beer type bar. i love it!

Big nice booths that are comphy. Great pricing, and 5-8pm happy hr. Great source for rare kegs. Bottle selection is minimal but great stuff pops up and doesn't last long. There is always a brew being relese / release party there with specials and got a free glass from one a while back. Plus they have cocktails, something every other beer bar in San Diego doesn't have. So you can bring non beer people there and they can have a stiff cheap drink. Also great music and a somewhat level pool table.

This was a recomendation from BA members for a late night place to go after the Radioahead show in Chula Vista (we were staying in Mission Valley). This was a great stop. Slower night for them, but it gave a good atmosphere for conversations with the bartender and a couple of interesting customers. Looked to be about 12 handles all filled with craft or import beers. Bartender said that they are a beer location that tries not to be a "beer bar." Having sipped my girlfriend's gin and tonic, I knew exactly what he meant. This is a hard drinking bar no matter what you get and the deals are good here. If you are looking for a fancy stop, then look elsewhere. This is the type of place with beat up DJ equipment, heavily used pool tables and a flea market copy of Trainspoting on the TV with burned in Spanish subtitles. A lot of reviewers on sites like Yelp say that it looks scary on teh outside, but that is definitely not the case. There is nothing scary here, just a kicked back bar with friendly (if sometimes eclectic) people.

Probably my favorite bar in San Diego. Sure, they don't have the selection that O'briens or Liars Club or Hamiltons has, but they have a very very very good selection that emphasizes the great local breweries that we have here in San Diego. I love that this place is under the beer geek radar - you won't find people rating beers here - instead, people are just concerned about drinking and having fun with friends. The selection is solid and seems to be getting better and better. The service is usually pretty solid. Great happy hour from 5-8pm as well.

i had heard of this place a few times, but hadn't been inside. it sure isn't pretty, but prettiness isn't why i go to bars. once inside, i realized i had been missing out. they had quite a selection of local and other craft beers on tap, a well stocked jukebox, and an eclectic mix of patrons. i didn't try the food, and don't know if they served any, but there were comfortable booths and a pool table. although not the most exciting, they still have one of the best selections of beer in town, and decent prices. i'll be going back.
