Appearance: The beer pours a cloudy, dark body with absolutely no head.

Smell: A sweet, dark fruit aroma mixed with a pinch of wheat and floral hops is the best way to describe it.

Taste: A sour tart taste is followed quickly by sweat malts. There is a hint of bubble gum along the way.

Mouth feel: It is light to medium bodied. A little too watery but otherwise refreshing.

Overall: The beer could probably use a bit more carbonation for a better feel but other wise this is a very well balanced take on the Hefeweizen. This is the best beer I've had from this brewer and it is still readily available in Ishigaki despite this site labeling it "retired."

330 mL brown bottle, capped, "best before" date on a sticker. Purchased in Tokyo.

This weizen poured a very cloudy/murky golden-brown color with large, white foam that left some lace. The smell was a combination of sour wheat and floral hops with hints of fruit and a wild yeasty aroma. The taste was slightly sour/tart with flavors of malt, wheat, and yeast, and a hint of fruit. The mouthfeel was initially tart but with some malt sweetness. It was smooth and medium bodied with a hoppy finish. This was a nice, refreshing, tangy hefeweizen.
