Near stop n' shop in Orleans. The only real choice of places to go in Orleans.
This place had a good selection of brews from Masssachusetts and New England. I was impressed with New England Brewing Comapany's Gandhi Bot.
They had Shipyard Brewing, Berkshire, Clownshoes, Sixpoint, 21st amendment, Rougue, the Bruery, and CBC.
It's the only real big place in Orleans and it is not a bad place at all. Good selection, and some nice gems. The staff was around to ask if you need help. Good prices.

Visited the establishment while on vacation to Cape cod with my wife.There was a nice selection of Mass. micro brews, some British, and some of the usual Belgian beers. There were also some other East Coast Micros, but I was more interested in the beers not easily available in my area. I ended up purchasing a numer of bombers for Berksire Brewery at a decent price. Compared to a place like State Line the selection is rather small, but the repesentation from local breweries was good. If you are not from the area, this store is definitely worth a stop.

Stopped in at the Windmill to stock up while vacationing for the weekend. The establishment is conveniently located off of 6A, right next door to a Super Stop & Shop off the main drag. One cooler door stocks the singles selection, while three to four other doors house six/twelve packs. Not much of a warm selection besides the macro products. Highlights included: Maharaja, Holidale, Alesmith's Old Numbskull, full line of BBC, growlers of CCB, etc, along with a pretty standard Belgian stock of Chimay, Duvel, etc. The six/twelve pack selection included mostly New England offerings (Magic Hat, Long Trail, Harpoon, Sam's, Offshore, Cisco, etc), and other national brands like DFH, Victory, etc. A pleasant surprise for a one-stop trip vacationer, especially for the Offshore products, CCB growlers, and a few unexpected pleasures like Holidale and Old Numbskull, but I would get very tired of this place very quickly if it was my local liquor store.

* Columbus Day Weekend 2006 *
During a recent vacation on Cape Cod this past weekend I decided to stop by Windmill Liquors. We're were headed on RT 6 East and this place was perfectly on the way. Located just a few minutes off of RT6, I would have to recommend this place on location alone. Very easy to find and nothing special from the outside, expect for that it's located directly across the street from a giant windmill that is quite nice to marvel at.
A rather small to average size store, but packed with some interesting beers. Coolers are located towards the side and stretch all the way down. Craft and micros beers are the first and as you move left the beer focuses more on macros.
Beer highlights included Avery Maharaja & The Kaiser, Victory Festbier, Great Divide Titan IPA & Hot Shot ESB, and Southampton Double White Ale, Stone 10th Anniversary IPA & Ruination IPA, Dogfish 120 Minute IPA & Chateau Jiaho and Southern Tier Phin & Matts Extraordinary Ale. I also noticed local gems like Cisco Whale Tales Pale Ale, Offshore Ale and growlers from Cape Cod beer.
This has to be the one of the better selections that Ive seen on the Cape. Service was helpful, but pretty basic overall.
This was one of those great BA moments for me. I found this place listed in Beerfly and it delivered. Definitely check this place if you are on the Outer Cape. You should be able to find some key beers.

This store was a real surprise to me - a pleasant surprise. It's not particularly impressive from the outside - located across the highway from the Orleans Inn with fairly minimal parking. It's quite small and crowded but it has a sizeable beer cooler space with a goodly amount devoted to micros and imports. Probably the most comprehensive micro selection I've seen on Cape Cod with the exception of bigger stores like the various Lukes locations without the stale stock problems which those stores seem to have on a consistent basis. I've found that Windmill seems to get the seasonals of such brewers as Newport Storm and Buzzards Bay quicker than other nearby locations and carries whatever brands become available in its area. The import selection is not as impressive as the micros but my impression is that only the major imports have much impact on the Cape beer market. Considered only in relation to other Cape stores, selection would probably be a 4.5. Service is very friendly although I've never had reason to test the depth of knowledge involved.
Cape Cod package stores tend to have freshness problems due to the seasonal nature of much of their business. However, I've yet to purchase a bad bottle from this store. Prices are higher than off-Cape but not necessarily higher than Lukes or other Cape stores. I recommend this location highly for anyone in the Orleans area looking for a good mix of what's available beyond the normal macros.
