Had this on tap last August at Bill's Tavern in Cannon Beach, OR. The colour was lightly cloudy with a thick head. The nose was lightly citrusy, lightly hoppy and slightly butyl. The palate was quite hoppy for a weiss beer and redolent of the quintessential clove, banana, bubble gum and citrus peel. Nice on a warm August day!

Wow, 4.5 years between review #1 and review #2...this beer showed up last week on the draft list at Bailey's Taproom. Snagged a 1/2 pint/nonic glass today after work.
A: 'Foggy'? Hardly. A barely hazy honey-amber with fairly minimal carbonation. Small head of eggshell cream, soapsudsy but quick to fall. Some lace sticks in wide fishnets.
S: Quirky aroma, borderline clove/banana with a squirt of nose-tickling lemon juice. Sourdough bread graininess.
T: Spiced wheat with a creeping sweetness. Tartness isn't quite as evident as it warms, allowing grassy hops, gentle cloves and a strong sourdough to wrestle free from a mighty lemony flavor.
M: Seems thin at first sip, but grows to a medium body. Carbonation modest at best; finishes with a lemony bitterness, a little medicinal.
D: No problem to finish 10 oz. Would have another if it wasn't for an agenda to sample a couple others. Not a 'traditional' Bavarian hefeweizens, nor an American wheat ale. Something in between, an OK beer overall.

This clouded wheat beer has classic lines and is well presented with a yeasty aroma, a zesty flavor and a scant head trailing admirable lace. The taste is yeasty and citric and goes to the threshold of being tart without being overly acidic. It is served in the traditional manner with a wedge of lemon.
This is a handsome representation of the hefeweizen style. Not just tasty, but tasteful.
