On tap at Barley Brown's 6.23.11.

Pitch black/dark brown opaque body no visible carbonation, medium brown head, medium dissipation with nice spider leg lacing. Not much going on in the nose, quite malty, I get a bit of light brown sugar notes, perhaps a wee bit of molasses, not caramel, some fruity hop aromas. Taste mirrors nose, this is not the typical BB hopbomb. Chaos without the hops and licorice stick added which provided an astringent bitter finish. Mouthfeel is medium, good effervescence. Other than Belgian Sledwreck this is the most unusual Barley Brown's beer I've had, it's malt forward taste profile had me pretty befuddled, but the licorice proved an interesting addition. Not sure the ABA/CDA categorization is accurate, I'd call this more of a Schwarz Ale.
