3.13/5  rDev +0.6%
look: 3.5 | smell: 3 | taste: 3 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.25

A: Pours a crystal clear medium yellow in color with moderate to heavy amounts of visible carbonation and some lemon + golden yellow highlights. The beer has a half finger tall sudsy white head that quickly reduces to a very large patch of very thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate aromas of biscuit malts and grassy hops with a lighter amount of grainy sweetness.

T: Upfront there are light to moderate flavors of biscuit malts with just a light touch of grainy sweetness. Light amounts of grassy hops that impart just a light amount of bitterness which fades pretty quickly.

M: Light to medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly crisp.

O: I found this beer to be easy to drink and refreshing with a little more bitterness than others in the style (in a good way). I love the bottles and think more breweries should use bottles that close this way.

12oz bottle into snifter glass.

A: Golden Straw Hue, Passes Most Light, Thin White Head, Mild Lacing

S: Crackers, Skunky

T: Sweet Corn, Light Bread

M: Average Carbonation, Light to Medium Bodied, Mildly Gummy

Overall, a mediocre lager that has that solid corn taste and nothing else.

A rather unattractive straw color with a lot of fizz and a quickly dissipating head which makes this beer seem like an ordinary pale lager. Flavor is not bad. There is a definite taste of malt with bready and biscuity notes to it. Basically no bitterness or hop character. Very crisp and light mouthfeel to it. Better than the average pale lager, but ultimately a boring and unimpressive beer.

A- Very pale gold, big white head that fades fast and leaves patchy lacing.

S- Biscuity malt with some skunk. Slight grassy hop aromas as well.

T- Bready malt opens up the palate and leads into citrus and a slightly bitter finish.

M- light/medium bodied with lots of tingly carbonation. Finish feels a little dry.

O- Not bad for what it is.

look: 3.25 | smell: 3 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 4

appearance:
lagery. basic apple juice yellow tone. thin dissapearing head. some odd small lace tho.

smell:
smells like it looks, it has a sweet note something like the apple juice is appears similar to. grains and hops present in there. slightly sweet an bitter smelling.

taste:
medium carb levels out to a lagery bitter, some sweet fruit hints in there mildly,
pretty short flovoured, ends up with nice dry feeling left behind, really refreshing,
grain is dominant in the after taste, over all a nice taste.

mouth:
sharp to start, not a heavy carb but a good level. I find it reminds me alot of
carlberg lager, not so much on the grassy notes , but similar, I find carlsberg almost like drinking a pint of the football pitch. this euro lager has simialr qualities, but
in a more hopped way. with a better overall balance.

overall:
this beer had been something I had tried a long time ago, from a flip top,
which was room temperature, and light struck. so naturally my first impressions
were not great, and I avoided buying it in choice for others. After some discussion the other night with a friend who drinks it regularly, I grabbed a can of it, and much to
my surprise, the lager I had hated, turns out to be very good when given the proper
treatment , (being poured properly, and chilled at least slightly) ...I will be adding this to my regulars I think, as the taste is considerably better than I had remembered.
a good clean euro pale.

First off, got it in the flip-top at Trader Joe's. Score. Saving for bottling the next batch.
Second, served it in a pint glass.
A- Light, golden orange. One finger head that dissipated quickly but left a thin film as it was agitated.

S- Sweet malt, light grass, light citrus.

T- Grassy, sweet malt.

M- Light bodied, definite cripsness, a little dry.

O- Basically a Heineken. Maybe a bit more bitter after-taste. Not my favorite but glad for the flip top regardless.

A: The beer is crystal clear yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a half finger high bright white head that gradually died down, leaving a large patch of bubbles in the center of the glass and a collar around the edge.
S: There are aromas of grassy hops, a bit of biscuit malts and some hints of skunk in the nose.
T: The taste is similar to the smell, except that there is a light to moderate amount of bitterness and this lingers through the finish.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and a little crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: From its appearance in a green bottle, this might seem like another mass produced beer, but it's hardly skunked and there's a rather high amount of bitterness for the style, which helps to mask the other flavors.

It made a lot of head with a medium retention. Pale golden color.
Aroma of grassy hops and hints of malt. Good carbonation and light body.
Predominant bitter bite at the beginning in its taste coming from its grassy hops.
A little astringent with a dry finish. Not a complex beer but with some character.

M: Light bodied pretty watered down with a sharp carbonation.

The lager poured from a pop top bottle. It was a clear, pale gold colour and left virtually no visible head; just some residual bubbles. Faintly sweet hop nose. Clean taste and clean palate; not much to it, really. Sessionable. Slight bitter aftertaste.

Would I drink it again? Yes.

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.

Damn, no swingtop. Oh well, the beer should still be the same, right? This stuff pours a clear pale straw topped by a finger of short-lived lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises light powdered sugar, wheat, and a touch of dry grass. The taste holds notes of grass, sweet corn, funky wheat, and a kiss of greens. The body is fairly light, with a moderate carbonation and a watery feel. Overall, a limp little lager, one that eschews a pilsner background in favor of a more, shall we say, mass-produced adjunct-y character.

A - pale, transparent gold with a large, dense, white head that has great retention

S - musty, skunky, grainy, maybe a bit grassy

T - grainy, warm, faintly grassy, faintly bitter, a bit musty

M - light bodied, crisp, a bit heavily carbonated

A typical european lager. It's musty but there is some underlying flavor that represents a solid lager. For the style it's decent - much better than some of the other offerings.

Pours a clear golden hue with a fluffy two finger head and a rim of lacing, the smell is noble hops, honey malts and grains, the mouthfeel is just over lightbodied and has tastes identical to smell with hints of noble grassy hops, honeyed malts and finished with a dry herbalness and overall its a macro but a better one when offered with the horrible lineup i had today cheers.

500ml can poured into a pint glass. ABV 5%.

A - Poured a clear gold with a 1cm bubbly head. Head reduces to nothing and no lacing.

S - Sweet malts, grass.

T - Sweet malts, hint of citrus, light bitter finish.

M - Medium carbonation, medium body, crisp finish.

O - Just your run of the mill Lager. It's nothing special but it does the job on a hot summer's day. The cans just aren't as cool to drink as the swing top bottles though.

Grolsch; I've been drinking this for years but this is the first time I've actually reviewed it. No time like the present then. One thing I want to point out and it's bleeding obvious; the classic swing-top is gone, extinct because of novelty and cost no doubt. It's sad that traditions like this have to die, making way for supposed "progress" when in actual fact it is a shrewd squeeze in the quest for profits at the behest of shareholders and suits within the organisation. Oh well, probably wont detract from the flavour, which is my key concern.

Poured from a 330ml bottle into a 500ml Stein.

A: Pale straw body with a 1cm white head, classic Euro Pale Lager territory here but expected nonetheless.

S: Aromas of cut grass, vegetable matter a twist of lemon and slightly sweet grain base.

T: Its got that Netherlands sour twang to it (yeast flavour), apart from that it is complete textbook Euro Lager - malt grains with a long dry finish and slight bitterness, not bad, no surprises but overall a decent enough ice cold beer.

M: Borderline flat carbonation with a light to medium body.

D: On par with the many macro Euro Pale Lagers - better then Australian and US macros but nothing adventurous for the taste buds. That said sometimes you want a bland lager to quench a mighty thirst and this is where Mr. Grolsch steps in with a thoughtful nod... "Why thank you Mr. Grolsch".

Food Match: Light/fresh fare, garden salads, grilled chicken/fish and the like, summer food for a summer lager.

bought the 4 pack of flip tops for the bottles, but might as well give yet another average rating to a typical euro lager. pale golden color with a bright white head that fades quickly. lighter carbonation than i recalled from the days i used to drink this with my father. bit of skunkiness mixed in with the grainy scents. taste is reminds me of par-baked bread with some bitterness on the finish. nothing particularly exciting here - just another european yellow beer. this style has been copied all around the world; to some of my south american friends this type of brew is beer, and anything that deviates from that recipe just ain't right. shame, really, because there is so much more you can do with grains and hops. still, goes down easy and is refreshing - just like an ice cold miller high life.

Pours amber in color with a respectable prickly white head that soon dissipates. Aroma is wheaty and a little skunky--smells like "beer" in the lowest common denominator sense. Flavor is similar to the aroma--wheaty, but not overbearingly so, with some hop bitterness. Nothing remarkable here; at least the carbonation adds a nice crispness to mask the flavor some. A drinkable pale lager, but the style doesn't really have much to offer as far as I'm concerned.

Poured from bottle into pint glass

Appearance – Pours a golden straw color with a large white head. The head fades fast to give a very light amount of lacing.

Smell – There is some light breadiness with a sweeter corn aroma. These aromas are rather light and are mixed with a bit of a skunky smell as well.

Taste – The taste is as was experienced in the nose with the exception of the sweet. The taste begins with a bready base and a corn cereal maltiness. As the taste advances the corn flavor diminished with some light more bitter flavors coming to the taste. These at the end mix with a skunky and papery flavor leaving a not so pleasant taste on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The beer has a thinner body with a slightly lower than average level of carbonation. It is very average for a lager.

Overall - Not a really good beer. Kind of classic lager with a UV burnt green bottle skunkiness.

T - Corn, light lemony hops, cut grass, nothing special here. I used to love this beer (before my eyes were opened).

Bottle of 330 ml, the only one I've found to be in that size, since every other dutch beer comes into a 300 ml bottles.
Not much to write about this, golden yellow colour with a white head, average retention. Smell isn't anything special, the usual for macro pilsners. Taste is average too, a bit skunked and slighty bitter aftertaste. Medium thin on the body, average carbonation.
Overall an average pilsner, one you can drink lots of in the summer and/or in the winter.
Greatly advertised, there are other better pilsners out there with a more reasonable price.
