pours a golden color with an off white head that fades to a patchy sheet of lace. the beer owes a great deal of it's aroma to the nasty little bottom feeders that spawned it, but still not bad for a lager. the taste follows with a bit of sweet malt up front and of course the esters, and a bit of a mineral taste at the end. full carbonation and the light body with the crisp clean finish make this a easily quaffable beer, but not one that I seek out on a regular basis.

What can I say about Grolsch that hasn't been said already?

Poured from a swing-top bottle into a chilled pint glass.

Appearance - Pale straw yellow with a small, sudsy head that quickly dissipated. Soda-pop like carbonation on the initial pour.

Smell -The overall aroma is mostly grass and something herbal, not a whole lot of malt coming to the nose. This bottle is only 2 months old and any hint of skunkiness is quite subtle.

Taste - Very dry, bitter, almost no malt presence. Tastes of bitter grass and Perrier. Very slight skunk taste coming through. Watery, sudsy, very unpleasant in my opinion. I can see this being great for drinking after a hot day of yard work, but as a sit-down-and-savor kind of beer, it misses the mark by a longshot.

Feel - Heavy carbonation, medium mouthfeel, dry and aggressive bitterness.

Overall - I bought this the same reason everyone else did: the cool swing-top bottle. It's an overpriced gimmicky beer that tastes a lot like Stella in my opinion. My grandfather, who makes and bottles his own wines and spirits, will appreciate the bottle as a gift.

Served from a 450ml green flip top bottle to a pilsener glass

A: Looks very "beer like". By that I mean it matches the stock image of beer in most peoples minds. Straw yellow color topped with a finger and a half of white pillowy head. Bubbles streaming up the sides. Overall very appealing.

S: Green bottles, so you guessed it skunk. Even though it was mild it was still clouding out some of the other aromas.

T: Everything noticeable was dimmed by the skunk aroma. Sweet doughy and biscuit malts were present and balanced well with a mild slightly grassy hop bitterness.

M: Crisp and clean with little aftertaste. Slightly dry as well.

O: Pretty decent alternative to BMC beers but nothing astounding. The skunk was a little bit displeasing but not entirely overpowering. I really just decided to pick it up to bottle some home brew in the bottles but it was alright.
