Went here for lunch, it's a micro brewery in Ise. I had the trifecta insofar I was driving, had my son and mother in law with me. Consequently the all you can drink for two hours for $20 was not on. I have previously enjoyed Shinto beer for this brewery in a can, a nice pale ale with some grapefruit bitterness though being someone who enjoys a stout, I ordered the stout with my lunch. As with a lot of places in Japan, the quality and price of the food was sensational. Around $15 for oysters, rice, pickles, vegetables and miso soup. I think in Australia you'd be looking at $40 and the quality would more than likely be lacking.

Anyhow, the stout came out - typical dry stout though it was served too cold resulting in me having to search for some taste. Sat on it for a while and to be honest, it wasn't anything special, a touch above Guiness draught perhaps but fairly inoffensive. The meal came with a English brown ale which was pretty decent for the style, had actually won an award in England so not much more need be said. Bought two bottles as I left, one of the stout I had (give it a second chance) and an "Oyster Stout" - no idea but will drink that in the next day or so. They brew around 6 beers here, I think I might come back later in the week without the crowd and enjoy a fair few more. Nice to have something other than a macro lager (which are huge over here) though no where near close to the sensational hand pumped stout I had from a brewery bar in Osaka.
