Wow, this is a borderline beer. Meaning, some might question whether this is actually beer. It’s awful. But it’s cheap wherever it’s available. A half liter was relatively cheap at the hostel bar where I was staying in Amsterdam. Can’t complain.

Very cheap beer that is drinkable. Probably the best beer to buy if you are on a budget.

500 ml can served cold into a beer mug.
appearance - Foamy golden color capped with two fingers of dense but short lived head. Lots of effervescence. Small ring of foam lasts more than a couple of minutes,
Smell - Mostly bready and grainy with a distinct sweetness that seems like overkill. No adjuncts.
Taste - Light grainy flavors, the sweetness carries through. Decent enough lager, nothing to complain about an no off flavours.
Mouthfeel - Fairly thin and watery with sufficient carbonation.
Overall - Passable beer that is a relatively decent European Pale Lager. Nothing to standout, but certainly not a bad brew. Probably drinks even better in the summer.

I've bought a 500ml can in Canada. Nothing special. I wasn't expecting a great experience only if the can didn't have the "Holland premium beer" labelling. I think it's an ok beer but nowhere near advertised.

Cheap, from Holland, with a German name ; ) Bottle has a boring design a bit. Drinking in a flute glass...
Aroma is quite faint, with an interesting and unique sweet malt element. Quite dark for a pilsner, fairly light head.
Definitely has a Dutch kind of taste...it reminds me of Grolsch a little, but less flavoursome. Hops are fairly subtle. The malt dominates, and there is good balance, so it's definitely not sweet like Amstel, for example. Though this really lacks the hoppy excitement of better pilsners such as Radeberger... however the malt has a complex and interesting flavour, and mouth feel is better than most other budget pilsners.
I probably wouldn't buy this again, however it is an ok effort, for sure. Not sure why it's named after a German state however, when it doesn't taste like a German pilsner at all, and most Dutch people usually dislike Germany as a result of their regular invasions ; )

This beer is absolutely one that falls into a strange category on BA and every review website. Either we consistently get the freshest Bavaria here in Canada or something strange is happening elsewhere, but Bavaria is an excellent macro that is deserving of much more than its current ranking here. Likely typical biases playing in here (“this beer is the only one that magically gives me headaches” … Lol)
It’s a macro, but a clean one. Just barley, water, hops and yeast. The heads on mine always last a good time, it’s a crystal clear gold with excellent carbonation. True — there is not too much to write home about. But what the beer gets right is being a straight up excellent pale lager with a great deep bready taste. It’s crisp, clean, and the pale malts really shine through. You get bitter, grassy hops on the nose and a precise, bready malt on the palate. Crisp with a decently long finish, this is an incredibly refreshing beer. Perfect for these humid temperatures in parts of North America here on the northeast US/southeast Canada.
Always had the 500mL cans, maybe people are getting struck beer from their normal green bottles but this is a very classic beer with absolutely nothing wrong with it on any angle whatsoever.

Good refreshing lager with a nice balanced bitter aftertaste. No strange taste and not super malty, but very fresh. Very easy to drink, really cold. Perfect on a hot summer day. Minus that the bottle is so minimal. But grab like 10 of these and have them when you are relaxing grilling some food or watching sports. Perfect.

(660 ml bottle). Standard golden colour lager. Initial good thick head that doesn't last very long. Standard lager aroma and flavour, reminds me of Amstel. Not very exciting.
