The second beer in the pod-pack (sampler 12-pack). Pours with a decent white (slight beige) head and a mahogany-copper clear (slight haze) body. The aroma has apples and freshness, reminds me of beaches and palm trees. The taste is more subdued with caramel and bread with a hops finish. It feels crisp and light-to-medium body and perfect carbonation. Overall, it is a decent pale ale. Definitely worth getting a pitcher of this.

431ml bottle poured into pint glass 28/1/12

A clear copper with a shitload of bubbles that don't just retain the head but increase it for a while, only leaves a few patches of lace but it looks great

S leafy hops with some caramel and a faint fruity aspect

T tastes a little metalic on top of what I smell with some candied core

M a little bite too it with a fairly clean aftertaste, from what I saw in the glass I expected it too turn to foam but things are good in this department

O not a bad glass of liquid but I'm not blown away by anything other then how it looks

another decent beer in my mixed pack, not worth searching for but I'm not upset I have two more

The hotel I stayed at while visiting Victoria BC had all of the Vancouver Island beers for purchase. I tried a few.

A: Dark amber, one finger white head, medium retention, light lacing.

S: Malty and hoppy.

T: Typical pale ale. Bready and malty up front, bitter hop finish. Not too sweet.

M: Light, moderate carbonation.

This was a good beer, just not a great beer. Typical pale ale, I'd get it again but only if there wasn't something more interesting around.

A - Brilliantly clear light copper. Finger of fizzy white head, poor retention.

S - Indistinct hop aroma with bready malt. Corn.

T - Hop flavor is still indistinct but citrus in nature. Bready malt and corn again.

M - Fizzy and over carbonated. Crisp finish though.

D - OK.

This pale ale pours a crystal clear, light colour with a 1 finger frothy, bubbly just off-white head that doesn't last long and leaves almost no lacing.

Smells of bready caramel malts and a touches of citrus and pine from the hops.

Taste is predominantly of bread and grain with light caramel notes and, again, mostly bready on the finish. The hopping is light, yet gives this beer a bitter back bone throughout. Its got a bit of that corn-y sweetness, however, which I am not too fond of.

Mouthfeel is light and crisp with an almost clean, slightly oily finish.

It is a pretty easy beer to drink. The only thing I could complain about is that the relative sweetness of this beer's corn-y profile makes it a bit more of a chore to finish. That being said, I don't know if I could drink this beer all night. I would likely look for a change after just one. Not my favourite beer from this brewery. Very average.

Can returned for me from Victoria. Turns out to be a surprisingly decent beer! Pours with a suddy head, clear (light) golden body. Not much aroma, no many hops. Tastes like a "rookie" pale ale. I enjoyed it enough, a fair bit actually, seemed to embody all thsoe stupid words they use in macro commericals... "smooth, clean and crisp." Certainly nothing too far from the ordinary, fairly average pale ale, that would need alot of work to be anything all that noticeable. Not too shabby at all though...

A decidedly average APA. A little on the yellowish side (I was expecting something a little darker), and a little on the light side in terms of body. Hops are mild to start but pick up some bitterness in the aftertaste. Notes of fruit, grain and honey are prominent.

16oz draft at an establishment in beautiful Victoria, BC

appearance: presentation is a clear amber body with no head, standard based on expectations

smell: more malty than hoppy...toasty and caramel driven, hop feel is light and in the background

taste: caramel-malt, nutty, lightly hopped...unsettling skunk characteristic that becomes noticeable in the aftertaste that is usually reserved for cheap imported green beer

mouthfeel: medium

drinkability: average

A: This is a golden ale with a fluffy white head, that leaves a little lace.

S: Fresh hops and bready malt.

T: Well balanced, some citrous hop flavour, slightly cidery, crisp (bitter) finish.

M: Light to moderate body, slightly creamy, moderate carbonation.

D: Good. Should certainly appeal to the masses.

This beer is a bit strange because it has real malt leaning with a sweetish finish. This is not exactly a bad thing as the beer is very drinkable and quite full bodied. The nose has a very nice brewery smell that is very unpale ale like. A decent beer especially since it comes in a can but it seems wrong for the style.

Started with a good head. Light copper in colour.
Not enough hop flavour. On the bland side. A slight bitter aftertaste.

Needs to be umphed up to make a quality micro beer. While it is better than the general commercial fare, it just does not have "IT".
