I tried Coopers Pale Ale after a friend spoke highly of it while in Australia a few years ago. years later trying it while listening to a band from Australia. Maybe a faint grain malt smell. The malt character is bread, yeast. Most of the sediment was mixed, would leave that out next time. Not enough hops for my liking. I'll stick with the band before the brew.

Bottle from Peckhams, Glasgow (375ml, £1.95):
Hazy, pale yellow with a thin, quarter centimetre, foamy white head one top that stays relatively consistent throughout. There is also some darker sediment at the bottom of the glass as a result of my pouring skills.

Light hops and a bit of bread along with some light, floral notes too. There was some noticeable grain and a smell not unlike a pale lager but for the most part it was pretty basic and bland with not much strength.

Bread & some lighter, lager hops along with some grain make up most of the taste. There is some lemon, citrus and a touch of bitterness too but again this one is fairly basic and plain with only a touch of fruit towards the end to liven things up any.

Light medium body, perhaps a little thin but with fairly strong carbonation. There was also a bitter tang but overall it was slightly water and very plain.

Pretty bland and unexciting with not a whoe lot going for it really. It didn't seem much like an English pale ale or even a golden ale to me either, it was just so ordinary and bland. The carbonation was a bit strong and the body a bit light with almost no taste or smell to speak of.

Not a bad light pale ale, almost a copy of Coopers Sparkling Ale, without the carbonation, which I thought improved the Sparkling Ale. Plus there was visible black sediment in the suspension that was off putting, as well as a slight funky smell that was only there an instant on the nose.

I would definitely never choose this over Coopers Sparkling Ale, and there are a bunch of other pale ales that are better.
