Tap @ Hamiltons. First gose I've had. Poured a hazy, but bright yellow-gold with a fizzy yellow head. Lots of tiny bubbles in the carbonation. Floral aroma, as in, I smell rose bushes. Toasted bread, lemon, and wheat. Popping mouthfeel that enhances the acididy of the beer. Sweet, spiced flavor with a lot of acidity. Tangy wheat and a strange lime/yeast/flower petal taste. Dry crisp finish. It was nice, just impossible to pin down what it was. Interesting, and a good sour.

Packaging: 330 ml bottle, pry-cap

Purchased: Received in a trade

A: Nice sized white head sits on the mostly clear, golden-colored beer.

S: Aromas are light, with spices and orange peel.

T: The taste is tart, with a big note of citrus, specifically oranges. I also get some saltiness as expected, but it is not overly salty.

M: The body is light and the feel has a high degree of carbonation. Finishes with tangy citrus flavors and a hint of salt.

O: Overall an excellent beer, especially for warmer weather in my opinion.

More thanks go to Cameron (TheBishopco) for providing this from my want list!

This is my second Gose beer experience, and I have to start by saying this is the far better of the two, being an authentic German brew. Leipziger Gose pours a clear gold, with a very fizzy 1"+ sized head. I am not finding lace on the glass once drank, however. The aroma is similar to a European Pils style, but a bit grainier, with the coriander and citrus scents noticeable as well. The taste is much like the aroma, but more full-flavored than one might expect. What's nice is that there's a bit of yeasty funk and sour apple hints in the mix. The salt, a signature of the style, is present, but very subtle, almost giving it a seltzer like mouth feel. This light beer finishes with an extremely crisp bitterness. Overall my recommendation mirrors my overall methods of trying a new style: try the original imports first before the local attempts.

While i haven't had all that many gose beers, this one seems a bit mild in the saline category

Pours a very light golden with white head that fluffed up fairly way, but stayed down as it drank.

Wheat malt is dominant aroma, but isn't all that powerful. A bit tangy. Soft spices of coriander and white pepper.

The salt is very mild here, and doesn't quite transform the beer from tart to sharp. Coriander and the wheat provide a tingly lemon essence, just shy of sweet.
While a refreshing beer and quite sessionable, it falls a bit short of a summer quencher

A- Cloudy, light, medium carbonation, some head retention.
S- Spicy, maybe slightly sour, not a strong aroma, seems like this will be refreshing.
T- Slightly sour, slightly spicy, slightly salty. Not very much more of anything than anything else, over all very clean in fact. Nice lacto tangy finish, perhaps this is the best description: clean, slightly sour. Hard to pick out spices, I'd guess coriander. Again, not a flavor bomb, but nice. No maltiness or sweetness to speak of. A well balanced beer.
M-Medium body, the carbonation is a bit zippy, adds to the drinkability and makes the beer more refreshing.
O- Really easy drinking beer, well made, I like the balance and slight sourness. Not overwhelmingly flavorful, but this is the right beer in certain circumstances, namely in warmer weather, paired with some nice cheeses.

On tap at Birch.

This beer kind of grows on you, but its saltiness is just a little too much. Interesting to say the least. Glad I tried it, but a little too odd for my liking. A little less orange juicy, a little less salty, and it might be a solid beer. But who knows, maybe I'll grow to like this like sours?

Poured from a 11.2oz bottle into a weizen glass in high elevation Libby, Mont. Reviewed live. Best-by May 24, 2013.

A- Three-finger cream-colored head. Retains the head for about two minutes. Relatively quick-eroding. Body is a very lightly colored golden , clarity is extremely high, as is carbonation. I think this is the first kind of gose I've had, so not sure how to compare it to that style. Unimpressive otherwise.

S- Wheat, semi-sour notes and a maritime semblance in the nose as well. Salty and sour? How odd. Little bit of funk, that's for sure. Pleasant.

T- Sweet and salty. Sour too. This is such an odd combination of tastes. Berries, seawater, coriander, lemon. Almost like a shandy? I rather enjoy it.

M- High and tight. Such an odd feel.

O- For the first real example of the style, it makes me intrigued with what else is part of this. Tasty, salty and so very tight in feel.

Nice, light gold body topped with a very dense and creamy white head (almost like cream with dense, very small bubbles); nice cloudiness when the bottom of the bottle gets poured into the glass. Funky aroma combining sweetness with a dank mustiness; old green apples and overly ripe honey dew melon. Sour twang to the taste, reinforcing the green apple flavor; barely perceptible bitterness. Very smooth and delicate feel; crisp, clean, and dry.

Definitely a different tasting beer, and probably the first gose beer I've had. Sour and citric taste (lemon and lime) that has a mild soapy aftertaste; not unpleasant per se, but different. Reminds me somewhat of a smoother hefeweizen but with a definite coriander (or cilantro) character. I'll definitely explore some more offerings in this style even if it wouldn't be near the top of my list in beer styles.
