Notes:
The Frankenmuth Brewery was re-opened under new ownership July 1, 2009 after being closed since Nov. 2006. The Brewery has both a class C resort license as well as a micro brewery license. We have begun distribution to the state of Michigan in kegs as well as serving our patrons in one the most popular destination cities in Michigan, Frankenmuth. We expect to be bottling in small quantities by March 2010.

Our Brewmaster, Jeff Coon, was in no way affiliated with the previous ownership. He brews according to the German Beer Purity Laws and offers six year round beers; Cass River Blonde Ale, Pilsener, Hefewiezen, Red Sky, English IP, & Munich Dunkel. We also offer seasonal brews including; Oktoberfest, Harvest Ale, Winter Bock, & Baltic Porter. As we grow we expect to offer a greater variety of ales & lagers.

Please note that all comments and ratings posted on here pre-2009 have nothing to do with the new ownership.

Been to this brewery many times, and just realized that I have yet to review it.

The best part about this place I would have to say is the atmosphere. I enjoy the layout and the spacious view it has. When you walk in your presented with a gift shop and a great interior. When walking into the dining room that vats are the items noticed first as they are to the left of the bar and also behind the bar.The brewery has a nice patio and a few levels to the building.

The brewery has quite a few beers on tap, I believe 6-7 beers that are always available, plus a few seasonals and special occasion beers. The staples are a hefeweizen, a german dunkel, a pilsner, a red ale, a blonde ale and a IPA. Though the selection of beer is suiting for more beer lovers, they can be inconsistent at times and seem to change.

The service also is pretty good, the bartenders do a good job in pertaining to customers needs and also are attentive. The other waitstaff is the same, though that also seems to change depending on the time of day.

Food wise the brewery has a nice assortment, ranging from Pizza, Sandwiches, Fish, appetizers and soups/salads. Pretty much everything I've had so far has been good and enjoyable. Oh and I gotta mention the Pretzel bread with the Horseradish sauce....excellent!

Overall this is a good brewery and has been a reason why I've made many returns. Between the food, selection and atmosphere its very easy to love this place. Only downfall though is the inconsistency of beers and at times service.

A nice place in a nice town. The selection of food is pretty good, most go for the beer; which is worth going for if you're in the area.

Frankenmuth Brewery produces some pretty good beer. I think I've had all of their selection, my personal favorite is the Hefeweizen and the Pilsener.

Worth a stop!

Went thru the brewery/pub on our way back from a northern michigan/ traverse city trip on the way back down I 75 South!

Awesome place, really glad we decided to check it out. Im a huge Oktoberfest beer fan so naturally got a 22oz'er and a appetizer (the pretzel balls) which were AMAZING!! The mrs ordered a Hefeweizen which was excellent also. Both beers were perfect cold temperature and were in clean glassware.

The interior of the pub is truly awesome. Plenty of seating, with a nice long bar and a sweet view of the brewing tanks/equipment.

There is also a outdoor seating area which looked like it had a nice view.

The service was very prompt and professional, as well as the quality of the food and beer..

The gift shop also has great prices on t shirts, glassware, stickers, and 5.99 for a sixer of the pilsner :)

Will definitely return and recommend to others! A+

This place is pretty cool. Never been there, friend took me on a tour of the brewery, I was very impressed, they are pasisonate about what they do there and that is always a good thing. We at the restaurant there for dinner. Had a pilsener with my meal that was pretty good. You get a view of the lake which compliments the meal nicely as well. Looking forward to going back when I return to Frankenmuth! 10/10. 5 stars, etc, etc, this is making me type more than I had planned! Come to Frankenmuth Brewery its great!!

Had a great time here. Ate with a view of Cass Lake. The food was delicious and the Pilsener that I had with my meal was great. If you are from out of town you must take a tour of the brewery with a tasting at the end. They recommend a beer with your meal if you aren't sure what would go best. For dessert get the deep friend oreos, they are a favorite among regulars. This place is definitely not a tourist trap either, its a local place with local people. Would recommend this place to anyone!!!!

A: Amazing we drove by and alls my kids could say was "Wow look at that place it looks awesome" Not enough parking though we had to park a few hundred feet away. They maybe have 15 parking spots at the brewery (unless i was missing something). As soon as you walk in its just mind blowing big fermenters, taps, lots of TV's, Huge dining area, and the view of the river will blow you away.

Q: The quality of everything was excellent

S: Our waitress was named Starr and she did a superb job. There was one mistake on our bill and she was very fast at correcting it.

Sel: They had a great selection of food and beers.

F: The food YUUUMMY!!! I live with two of the most picky eaters in the world, my wife, and our daughter. One had a pizza, one had fish, and i had a bacon bleu burger. Burger was alittle more done then i would of liked it but just like the other two dinners it was delicious! The beer was fantastic too we got the flyt and loved all of them hope they get back to bottling soon.

V: It was a bit pricey but it was worth it. We fed me my wife our 9 year old daughter plus one flyt (9 beers 1.50 each) of beers for 44.00 plus a 9 dollar tip

Overall i cant wait to come back to this brewery it was super!

Recently I went to visit some friends in the Frankenmuth area and we were deciding on a place to eat. We ended up at the Frankenmuth Brewery because they brewed and served their own beer.

I was happy when I first walked in, but that did not last too long. The place looks nice and the atmosphere is pleasant. We had a brief wait, but it's a tourist town near the holidays so that was expected.

While waiting I noticed that it was $40 to get a growler...just a growler. It is $45 to get a growler that actually has beer in it and a refill is $10. I could perhaps see the interest if I was going to have it filled weekly, but for an out-of-towner it was not worth it.

Our server was completely uninterested in us. She was very short with us, rarely checked in and left our used appetizer plates on our table the entire time we were there.

They serve only their own brews and they have 5 or 6 to choose from. Not a wide gamut of selection, but that's not the end of the world.

The food left much to be desired. It certainly fell short of the quality I was expecting for the price. I had the brats which were decent--over salted but decent, the potatoes were cold and seemed as though they came out of a box. The asparagus was large (not good for asparagus) and needed some sort of seasoning.

I was less than impressed with the place. The staff seemed distant and uninterested from the start to the finish. The prices exceeded the quality and I was left wishing I had gone somewhere else.

I went here for dinner and drinks with my girlfriend. The building looks very cool from the outside. I don't think the current building is that old, but it looks as if it could be from the turn of the last century. The same feeling continues inside. There is a very spacious bar/dining area upstairs, and I believe there is a large area downstairs as well. It is also in a good location, within walking distance of everything downtown.

I believe they had 7 or 8 beers on the menu. I tried the pils, English IPA, and the Red Sky. I thought the pils was pretty good. It was everything I would expect out of pilsener; light, refreshing, and very drinkable. The English IPA was decent but nothing memorable, and I did not care for the Red Sky. I don't know if something was wrong with this batch, because there was a funky yeasty flavor that would be more appropriate for a Belgian brew.

The food we had was very good. When we were seated our waitress provided us with pretzel bread sticks that were pretty tasty. We ordered a pizza for dinner and we were both very impressed with it; it was a step up from standard bar pizza.

Our waitress was very friendly and made us feel welcome. They were also not very busy at all for a Friday night. I would imagine it is much busier during the summer traveling season though.

Overall I enjoyed myself at this brewery. The beer isn't really anything memorable, but it is decent. If you're staying in Frankenmuth I would highly recommend stopping in for a few brews and a meal.

Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon with my wife, and son plus a home-brewer friend and his family. Food was pretty typical for a brewery-we had chili in a bread bowl, onion rings, burgers, and wings. None of this was wow but it was all pretty tasty. Beers we had were the English IPA-very smooth and easy to drink, and the Red Sky which also had a nice flavor-my wife who never drinks craft-beer said it was "pretty good" which for her is a ringing endorsement. Service was friendly and one of the managers gave us the scoop on all the different features at the restaurant-they have a full service bar on the first floor which opens for Friday and Saturday nights. They have heated patios and for those who get worried when they see that the main parking lot only has about 20 spaces they have 2 lots across the street-one behind the Fairfield and the other behind the library. Valet service is being considered. Overall it was a nice place to drink some flavorful craft beer.

Visited on December 22nd for lunch with the fiancee.

Visually the brewery is situated in scenic/touristy downtown Frankenmuth on the river in a fantastic location. The building has high ceilings and wood molding giving it that classic brewpub feel.

On tap: Pilsener, Hefeweizen, Cass River Blonde, Munich Dunkel, English IPA, Red Sky Ale, and a Winter Bock. Samplers (4 oz) were tasted for 6 of the beers (despite ordering all 7). Never been to a brewery where a sampler tray was not offered. The blonde ale was the only beer unsampled. The beers overall were good with a predominance of malt character in all the varieties. The Red Sky Ale was very sweet and undrinkable to my palate, hefeweizen had a predominant banana character that was expected despite being rather clear for a hefe. The dunkel and the bock were very similar in taste with a dominance of dark malt. Growlers were available but at $40 ($5 refill) a pop I wasn't about to do that.

An open-faced tuna sandwich and bratwurst sandwich were ordered with fries. For $8 a meal the portion sizes were OK with less fries delivered than expected. Both were good but nothing exceptional. I expected a bit more German selections as this is Michigan's little Bavaria. All that was seen was a bratwurst sandwich and a brat dinner.

Service was friendly and timely. My only gripes were that I was charged for an extra sample and the cost of my meal was higher than presented on the menu. Overall, I would say that the Frankenmuth Brewery (Brewpub?) is not an all day excursion but a good stop if you're close or in the area.
