The Frankenmuth Brewery was re-opened under new ownership July 1, 2009 after being closed since Nov. 2006. The Brewery has both a class C resort license as well as a micro brewery license. We have begun distribution to the state of Michigan in kegs as well as serving our patrons in one the most popular destination cities in Michigan, Frankenmuth. We expect to be bottling in small quantities by March 2010.
Our Brewmaster, Jeff Coon, was in no way affiliated with the previous ownership. He brews according to the German Beer Purity Laws and offers six year round beers; Cass River Blonde Ale, Pilsener, Hefewiezen, Red Sky, English IP, & Munich Dunkel. We also offer seasonal brews including; Oktoberfest, Harvest Ale, Winter Bock, & Baltic Porter. As we grow we expect to offer a greater variety of ales & lagers.
Please note that all comments and ratings posted on here pre-2009 have nothing to do with the new ownership.

Very festive atmosphere. Beer selection accommodates a wide range of tastes. The place was very busy yet the service was still top notch. The wait was a bit excessive but well worth it. I would definitely recommend stopping here for a beer if your in the area.

Atmosphere- The atmosphere of this brewery is the only thing it really has going for it. It is a large building with vaulted ceilings and you can see brewing equipment from anywhere in the brewery, they also have a nice little shop up front with beer to go and brewery swag.
Quality/selection- First off they have maybe 10 beers on tap if that, most of which you can pick up at any good beer store in Michigan. Not a lot of selection in their variety of beers most of which are their regular line up with one or two seasonals. The only thing more disappointing than the selection of beer is the quality of the beer. I've had their pilsner which taste almost as bad as Budweiser, Red Skye which is a very watered down red ale lacking in body and in flavor, oktoberfest which is just has a really generic feel to it all malt no hops no complexity, and their Hefenweizen which may be their best beer and even it tastes watered down.
Service- Every time I have been here the service has been shody at best. The waitress I had the first time messed our order up several times and did not check on us often. The second time the waiter we had was a little better but was still hard to track down if you wanted a refill of anything.
Food- The food is hit or miss. The first time I was here I had a burger which was a bit over priced but good. The second time I had a pizza and it was extremely bland and underwhelming.
Overall- This brewery is over rated in my opinion. If you are just getting into craft beer and do not have much of a palate for complex beers then you will probably like this place. About five years ago I would have liked their beer, but now all of their beer to me taste really watered down and generic. For the price the quality should be better. I've been there twice, I will not be back a third time.

Frankenmuth is a pretty good place overall. it was a nice place to go sometimes visiting my cousins up that way and my uncle always took us here back in the day. It's different since it reopened from when I was there before I could drink. Now that I drive myself I wish there was more parking around. Sometimes it's a problem sometimes not. I like the nice brick and it's actually a pretty building. Inside is cool, with the gift shop and the parafanalia(?). The food is good and apart from the decoration is when you know everything they do is traditional and German in style. They make very good versions of the pub food you might find in Germany, German sausages and the big soft pretzels and all. The beer's good too. i wouldn't say it's world class and they could use some work but they're definately not bad. Overall it's a nice place to relax and eat and drink.

Had dinner here yesterday with my bf and two friends.
A- I can't say anything bad about the atmosphere. The place was huge and open, and a lot of the behind the scenes brewing equipment was visible, which is always cool. The music was at a reasonable volume and not terrible (i.e. top 40) but rather mostly 80s stuff.
Q- The quality of the beer, most of the food, and service was very good. I've had their beer bottled and it is way better on tap, specifically the Hefeweizen and Red Sky Ale.
S- Our server was attentive without being too invasive, and very polite.
S- The selection gets marked down due to there being little in the way of beer varieties, both in terms of styles and the total amount. I realize they stick to German styles, which is probably why they lack porters, stouts, fruit beers, etc, but it leaves little variety. The selection of food was very good, however. You also get a choice of a pint or 22 oz, with only a dollar difference between the two.
F- My food (the Cowboy Burger and fries) was great, and the 2 guys I went with had no complaints either (they stuck to sandwiches). However, my best friend's mac and cheese was tasteless and awful. I tried it for myself and agreed. Avoid that dish.
V- I thought the value was excellent. Food prices were average (at least for my standards in the Metro Detroit area, not sure about this area of MI in particular) and the beer was either $3 a pint or $4 for a 22 oz, which was awesome and cheaper than what I'm used to. That said, maybe there was some sort of Sunday special on those? The prices weren't on the menu and I can't see them online, either, so maybe they fluctuate. I noticed that the price of the flight made no sense... $1.50 per sample or $12.00 for a whole flight of six... but none of us got the flight, so no matter, in our case.

A nice place in a nice town. The selection of food is pretty good, most go for the beer; which is worth going for if you're in the area.
Frankenmuth Brewery produces some pretty good beer. I think I've had all of their selection, my personal favorite is the Hefeweizen and the Pilsener.
Worth a stop!

Went thru the brewery/pub on our way back from a northern michigan/ traverse city trip on the way back down I 75 South!
Awesome place, really glad we decided to check it out. Im a huge Oktoberfest beer fan so naturally got a 22oz'er and a appetizer (the pretzel balls) which were AMAZING!! The mrs ordered a Hefeweizen which was excellent also. Both beers were perfect cold temperature and were in clean glassware.
The interior of the pub is truly awesome. Plenty of seating, with a nice long bar and a sweet view of the brewing tanks/equipment.
There is also a outdoor seating area which looked like it had a nice view.
The service was very prompt and professional, as well as the quality of the food and beer..
The gift shop also has great prices on t shirts, glassware, stickers, and 5.99 for a sixer of the pilsner :)
Will definitely return and recommend to others! A+

This place is pretty cool. Never been there, friend took me on a tour of the brewery, I was very impressed, they are pasisonate about what they do there and that is always a good thing. We at the restaurant there for dinner. Had a pilsener with my meal that was pretty good. You get a view of the lake which compliments the meal nicely as well. Looking forward to going back when I return to Frankenmuth! 10/10. 5 stars, etc, etc, this is making me type more than I had planned! Come to Frankenmuth Brewery its great!!

Had a great time here. Ate with a view of Cass Lake. The food was delicious and the Pilsener that I had with my meal was great. If you are from out of town you must take a tour of the brewery with a tasting at the end. They recommend a beer with your meal if you aren't sure what would go best. For dessert get the deep friend oreos, they are a favorite among regulars. This place is definitely not a tourist trap either, its a local place with local people. Would recommend this place to anyone!!!!

A: Amazing we drove by and alls my kids could say was "Wow look at that place it looks awesome" Not enough parking though we had to park a few hundred feet away. They maybe have 15 parking spots at the brewery (unless i was missing something). As soon as you walk in its just mind blowing big fermenters, taps, lots of TV's, Huge dining area, and the view of the river will blow you away.
Q: The quality of everything was excellent
S: Our waitress was named Starr and she did a superb job. There was one mistake on our bill and she was very fast at correcting it.
Sel: They had a great selection of food and beers.
F: The food YUUUMMY!!! I live with two of the most picky eaters in the world, my wife, and our daughter. One had a pizza, one had fish, and i had a bacon bleu burger. Burger was alittle more done then i would of liked it but just like the other two dinners it was delicious! The beer was fantastic too we got the flyt and loved all of them hope they get back to bottling soon.
V: It was a bit pricey but it was worth it. We fed me my wife our 9 year old daughter plus one flyt (9 beers 1.50 each) of beers for 44.00 plus a 9 dollar tip
Overall i cant wait to come back to this brewery it was super!

Recently I went to visit some friends in the Frankenmuth area and we were deciding on a place to eat. We ended up at the Frankenmuth Brewery because they brewed and served their own beer.
I was happy when I first walked in, but that did not last too long. The place looks nice and the atmosphere is pleasant. We had a brief wait, but it's a tourist town near the holidays so that was expected.
While waiting I noticed that it was $40 to get a growler...just a growler. It is $45 to get a growler that actually has beer in it and a refill is $10. I could perhaps see the interest if I was going to have it filled weekly, but for an out-of-towner it was not worth it.
Our server was completely uninterested in us. She was very short with us, rarely checked in and left our used appetizer plates on our table the entire time we were there.
They serve only their own brews and they have 5 or 6 to choose from. Not a wide gamut of selection, but that's not the end of the world.
The food left much to be desired. It certainly fell short of the quality I was expecting for the price. I had the brats which were decent--over salted but decent, the potatoes were cold and seemed as though they came out of a box. The asparagus was large (not good for asparagus) and needed some sort of seasoning.
I was less than impressed with the place. The staff seemed distant and uninterested from the start to the finish. The prices exceeded the quality and I was left wishing I had gone somewhere else.
