Pours into a standard pint glass a clear brass color with a minimal head that is gone pretty quickly.Sharp citric hops over top of a big sweet caramel base,a tinge of sweet alcohol is there as well.Citric fruity hops really hit nicely at the onset then flavors meld into a caramel/biscuit maltiness that holds up pretty well to the hops and lingers.A very flavorful APA,it's big but doesn't really feel it much, pretty damn good.

A - dark orange with a thin, white lacing of head
S - faint bready malt, some sweetness, mild resiny hops
T - bready malt, faint birthday cake sweetness, caramel, piny bitterness
M - medium bodied, well carbonated
This is a pretty solid APA. I'm impressed that it's 7.30% as an APA. It has a nice malt character with a balanced hop presence. If the malt character was bit more forward (because I'm a sucker for that birthday cake sweetness) I would be really impressed. As it stands, this is a good APA that is probably worth a try.

From notes on 04/03/12:
18th Anniversary Bottle; Poured in a pint glass.
A - Half an inch of off-white creamy head that lasts a minute or so; Dark copper in color with a semi-hazy appearance; There's just a small amount of floating sediment within the glass; Decent amount of lacing left behind
S - Nice dose of pine and citrus hops with an almost equal presence of sweet caramel and toasty malts; Detect a bit of a melon fruit quality too
T - Quite a bit of pine here as well with some accompanying citrus; Even with the generous showing of hops, the taste is pretty balanced with plenty of toasty, biscuity, and some sweet caramel flavors - much like the nose; Mild shot of bitterness hits up front and slowly fades throughout the taste; Finish tastes a bit leafy/earthy
M - Carbonation feels a tad below moderate, but still zesty; Just over medium bodied; Leaves a light oily coat on the tongue; Pretty smooth going down
O - I thought this brew was pretty easy to drink and quite enjoyable, even with the carbonation feeling a bit on the low side. As the name suggests, there is a good amount of hoppy flavor here, while still maintaining a nice balance with sweet, toasty, and bready malts. I could certainly go for this Legend offering again as it's one of their better creations that I've tried thus far.

A: Pours a barely clear copper-red-amber with a huge head of light-tan-amber foam on top. Nice bubble action in the body -- especially fo a tulip glass, which in my experience gets less bubbles than a pint glass. Nice complexity in the body -- hold it up to the natural light and it's amber. Take it away and it's a rich dark gold. This is actually really good.
S: It's called Hopfest for a reason -- you do smell hops. Some pine. Some faint citrus. Medicine. Some fruity notes. All of this is very subtle. There's some complexity, but I'm not sure it's a great balance. Just better than average I'd say.
T: Kind of a hop-forward brew, but a bit one note. You catch some of the malt -- like a sour malt actually. The finish is a little bitter, more dry, though. I think the thing to remember, though, is this is an APA not an IPA, and for a APA this is definitely better than average.
M: Right off the bat the beer is a bit vicious -- cut the tongue a bit. Quite surprised by that -- a bit of a turn off. But, we're talking about a light to medium body beer, with really nice carbonation (extra kudos there). The carbonation gives it a velvety feel, which is nice. Not really any chewiness to it. This is kind of your average feel with a superb carbonation.
O: Not a bad brew. I've had a few Legend offerings, and I think I've liked the others better than this. But, this is a nice price for a bomber. And, it's local. Nice hops too it. Nice carbonation. Nice look. Unfortunately, the beer is a bit one note and it's cuts a little too much.

The flower is present in this beer and it seals the deal. Today is 2/27/12. Picked up a 22oz at $4.5 and I think this is a very fresh batch. I drank it following a Starr Hill Double Platinum and I didn't even review that because it wasn't very worthy, particularly in comparison to this beer. The flowers are so present in the aroma and the beer is finely balanced and very tastey. Give it a try.
