As with the reviewer stated directly before me, I too have never been a fan of hemp beers. With that being said, Humboldt County and hemp go together perfectly! The aroma is hoppy, the beer pours a rich creamy color, with a hint of earthy spices. Just the right amount of carbonation and a tad bit of sugary malts. By far the best of many hemp ales I've tried to date. A worthy effort indeed!

To this point I've never been terribly impressed with the hemp ales I've sampled, generally finding them to rely more on the gimmick of hemp than actual quality of taste. This beer was a pleasant deviation from that trend. Nice, caramel malt body with perhaps a bit more than average level of hopping for the style, but not enought to push the limit by any means. Quite easy to drink. Not something I see as a session ale, but I would certainly pair this with a beef dish.

Ah. Hemp, that most traditional and requisite of all beer ingredients. Ahem.
Pours a pleasant deep dark brown colour, flashing with red when held to the light. Head is filmy but solid enough, quite fine bubbled and leaving patchy lacing. Pretty fluid, light bodied. Overall, it looks pretty decent. Decent enough, anyway.
Ooh, nose is really nicely nutty and smooth, with a touch of sweet malt holding it all together. Perhaps, there's just a twinge of seltzer acidity, but I may just be projecting what I fear it may taste like. As it stands, the nose is quite pleasant.
Taste is indeed a lot thinner than I expected, although it doesn't have the seltzer water character I was expecting. Instead, there's very little sweetness, and the nutty character when it comes in is laced more with a slightly bitter roasted note, which without any malt to back it up, tastes empty and cold. Clinging grain on the back gives it a slightly unpleasant aftertaste.
Feel is very light and very generic.
It could have been better, but there's something pedestrian about the way this is brewed. It has some pleasant characters that could really have been developed, but it's as though no one cared enough to make it happen.

Pours a four finger off-white head that fades quickly, leaving traces of lace. Clear deep mahogany color. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Light toasted malt nose and flavor is roasted malts, not finding any hemp. Typical brown. $2.45 for a 12oz bottle from Bert's Better Beers Hooksett, NH.

Poured from a bottle into a Stein glass.
Look - dark amber color, clear, with about half a finger of khaki-colored foam that dissipates quickly.
Smell - unusual, maybe a little malty, but there's something else there - clearly the hemp - but not very strong.
Taste and Mouthfeel - interesting taste...a new and different taste. A little "hoppy" tasting, but with less of an edge, but the bitterness is there in the end. Texture is pretty well-balanced, but a little more on the watery side.
Overall - not terribly interesting, but somewhat so. Good tasting and fairly new and refreshing.

A- Clear dark brown with a reddish tint. Cream colored head that dissipated to a foam cap.
A- Creamy brown malt smells. Chocolate malt.
T- Earthy flavors. A bit chocolatey, quite sweet. Not much in the way of bitterness. Weird astringency.
M- Medium body, rather smooth mouthfeel. Moderate carbonation.
D- Not bad, but not my first choice. Nothing tasted especially like hemp in this brew.

Sampled on May 28, 2011. The pour is dark amber to brown with no head. The aroma is full of nutty brown characters along with an herbal quality and a little bit hopped. The body is a lot thinner than I would prefer. The taste has a bread-like character and a bit of a hoppy finish. This was nothing special.

Ruby and brown. Head is a light, fluffy consistency and tawny color. Head is big and makes a good soap bubble lace. Filtered.
Sweet, woody with a very small earthy hop presence.
Very sweet with a slight tang. Hops have a modest bitterness and the flavor melts in with all the maltose. Weird, chemical-like astringency in the finish.
A little thick for my taste.
Kudos for trying something different, but why so sweet?

Served in bubble pint glass. Poured a clean, clear mahogany color with a thin cap of tan head that had low retention and light lacing.
The aroma was nicely full of grainy malt and wasn't as sweet as I expected. The scent was fairly well balanced, but kinda neutral. The taste was typical for the style, well balanced with a bit of a hop tang on the finish.
The body was decent, fairly typical for the style, but a bit thinner than I like. Drinkability was good I could have a couple of these with some wings. Overall, not a bad little beer, worth trying if you see it.
