A: Soapy white head forms a thin layer on top of this pale yellow brew. Crystal clear and full of carbonation.

S: All I can smell are the adjuncts and some ethanol. Not too much aroma, but what is here is not impressive.

T: Tastes like adjunts. I can't tell if it's rice or corn, but it's not malt. No real hop presence. Refreshing, but slightly metallic.

M: Carbonation is very active on the tongue. Light bodied.

D: Good beer for a long night of drinking. Other than that, this brew isn't worth buying.

The Dorm Room Review

From a steel-blue can, adorned with an auburn maple leaf and ivory and gold character, pours an imported pilsner from the great, mysterious North. I am, of course, referring to the majestic nation of Canada (and in my case, one can drive South to enter Windsor). We all know the Blue, so let's give it a review, eh?
This review was written to the tune of: Godspeed You! Black Emperor's song "Static".

Consumed from the can. I need to save my solo cups.

Appearance: No doubt, Labatt Blue is not an appearance-driven beer. If you've seen one adjunct, you've seen 'em all. Someone should tell Labatt to dye a batch blue in honor of some anti-St.Patrick's Day (John Labatt's birthday, perhaps? Get at me, Labatt Co.!)

Smell: The dense Canadian wilderness. Hints of Yukon moose and oligotropic freshwater perch, particularly from Southern Ontario's Lake Simcoe. Just kidding, Labatt smells like BEER. You know the smell, and depending on your olfactory memory, it can be good or bad.

Taste: A lumberjack from Toronto decided to trek to the Canadian Shield, draped in his sweat-soaked red plaid sweater and tight beaver-skin boots. From a leather pouch, the Canadian unsheathes his beer mug, and plunges it deep into the ancient glaciated Earth. He takes a valiant Canuck swig from his glass, and with the spirit of a thousand Mounties, he shouts in French to the heavens (Quebec), and thus, Labatt was founded. In reality, the lumberjack was pleased by the great, crisp taste of Labatt Blue. Malt, typical adjunct are clear, but some sort of extra character purvey from the usual macro bunch. I can think of no other alcoholic beverage to enjoy after a long day of physical labor. Keep six of these cool in your fridge (or glacier), and enjoy with reckless abandon after quittin' time.

Mouthfeel: Crisp, light, Canadian. Perfectly sessionable.

Overall: I really like Labatt Blue. In fact, I really like Canada. One of my Polish ancestors, who illegally hopped a boat from the motherland, landed in Canada and lived there before moving to Michigan. Labatt Blue is certainly worth the extra sheckles when faced with the boring Miller and Coors. For full effect: tune into a hockey playoff game, buy three pizzas, invite four or more friends over, and crack open several Labatt Blues as you watch barbarians on ice beat each other up.
Fun fact: if you purchase Labatt from one of Canada's liquor stores (which close by 5pm), the "imported" text will vanish.

Pours to a 1/2 inch white head that falls quickly to a thin ring of foam around the glass and yellow gold color. Aroma is a weak grain and slightly buttery. Flavor is a bland mixture of corn and faint hops. Mouthfeel is light and CO2 is appropriate for style. A very common North American lager that is rather unremarkable.

Appearance - excellent golden amber, with thin white head

Smell - smells like the typical "beer". slight hops. very strong odors

Taste - malty, hint of sweetness

Mouthfeel - more than the average dryness, does leave you wanting more

Overall - classic beer, reminds me of hockey and enjoying a game with a cold one

I was not a big fan of Labatt Blue the only time I ever tried it. While sitting around a camp fire for a field trip in Grand Marais, Michigan, I was given one of these beers. The smell of the beer was horrible, while the taste of it wasn;t much better. I may give it another try sometime, but i am not a fan of this beer.

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass.

A - Pours a clear golden amber, about a finger of white head that dissipates pretty quickly, not much lacing.

S - Malts, alcohol, hops. Beer.

T - Malts, alcohol, toastiness, a certain chewy muskiness (a good word someone else here used) that I would use to describe beers such as this or Molson, Black Label, etc.

M - Not too bad, actually. Dry without too much of a macro kick. Medium-high carbonation and satisfactory aftertaste.

O - Pretty good. One of the best adjuncts/macros.

Labatt Blue on draft. Pale gold color. Pristine clarity. Nice fluffy white head. Sitting strong, too. And, there's some nice lacing.

Pale malts that include corn. Lightly sweet vegetable quality matched with clean grain and a touch crisp hops. Mild DMS.

Pretty clean. Some corn malts interfere, but not obnoxiously. Great lagered flavor for what it is. Only slightly tangy. Rather dry for the style.

Very carbonated. Brute bubbly feel overtakes the thin body. Not as mismatched as other adjunct lagers.

Approving of this staple. Will enjoy from time-to-time. You know what it is.

16-oz can poured into a mason jar. Bought 24 of these guys for fourteen bucks in Buffalo. Drinking as I review. Smells metallic and slightly stale. It appears a slightly more pronounced shade of piss-gold than most macro lagers. Tastes lightly skunky with a unidentifiable sharpness masking any sense of sweetness. None of that annoying bread flavor or dull maltiness you get with some other macro lagers. As it warms, it gets a rounder, sweeter aftertaste. Feels watery and tingly on the tongue.

Overall: This is a dry, bright macro brew. Less sweet than Coors and Molson. Less skunky than Stella. More personality than Budweiser and Miller. The first beer I ever drank was Labatt Blue in a red Solo cup. It was the beer we brought to the park before we were old enough to drink in bars and probably what I drank the night I kissed my first college girlfriend. My tastes have changed since then, but I still consider it a great beer for parties, camping trips, tailgating, and other situations where you just want to drink a bunch of watery beer with your friends.

For all the mass-produced North America beers out there, this one tastes the best. Keep in mind, make sure you drink it cold, or it won't taste good (perhaps it's b/c there are no preservatives in this beer)? Anyway, this beer actually has a pleasant taste, no aftertaste, and is best among beers priced in the same catagory such as Bud, Miller Lite and Coors.

you know, as the cheap after hockey beers go, i dont mind this. in the craft context, its obviously crap, but in the cheap beer world, its decently solid. the pour is of course an adjuncty piss color, with a marshmallowy white head. nose is watery malts, generic yeast, and a touch of aluminum. flavor is the same as the nose, slightly less off, bready malts, a lot more flavor than the blue light. aftertaste is a little metallic, but comparably less so. drinkability is high with a pretty light body and very active carbonation. it turns the stomach a bit, which has to knock it down a peg, but after a hockey game or on the golf course, there is a lot worse you can do for yourself than one of these.

This is a drinkable beer. It isnt delicious, but it's alright. It's an adjunct lager, if I'm not mistaken, so no sense getting too much into the taste. It has a decent "beer" taste, but nothing to write home about. As ot warms, it leaves a slight filmy coating in the mouth. Drink it straight from the bottle, ice cold, with friends, and you'll have a good time.

I'm a stout guy myself, but I figured I'd give this a try since my friend swears by this beer as a (cheap) AAL.

Appearance: Decent head. When that subsides, it looks like your average, generic urine-tinted pilesner.

Smell: Musky, almost metallic smell.

Taste: Smooth, but that's because it's a bit watery and heavily carbonated. At first, all you can taste is carbonation before the tastes of corn and malt come into play.

Mouthfeel: Nothing special. Carbonated water.

Overall, I like it a lot better than any other cheap beer I've had. I give it the relatively negative reviews that I have because it's just a weak "pilsener" with no real substance.

As a beer it is ok, but as a pilsener it's terrible. The appearance is ok and the smell too but the taste isn't good for a pilsener. The mouthfeel is average tough but the rest of the beer is certainly below average. In general, this beer is fine but it isn't a pilsener. I would definetly give it a 3 if it was a normal lager.

Had this for the FIRST TIME finally. I always told myself never to drink these kinds of beers ... but hey, at least it wasn't Bud Light.

Appearance: About what you'd expect ... it has a pretty nice head on it, which is surprising, but it really just looks like Budweiser.

Smell: Cheap, lousy, weak smell. It could be worse...

Taste: A bit better. Watered down tasting, which is to be expected, but surprisingly drinkable regardless.

Mouthfeel: Watered down. Not very pleasant.

Overall, I'd definitely choose this over some other cheap beers of its kind, but seeing as how it's an import, it'd cost more. I would NEVER buy this at a store, but like I said, I'd choose this over some other American beers of this dumpy variety. Among the worst beers I've had, but I can drink it without gagging.

Labatt Blue is the most decent beer I have had in Canada.

This AAL actually tastes like a pale lager, more than Miller, and Bud ever will claim.

Pale yellow in color, off white, fast reducing head

Tastes: grass, wet cereal, malt, and a hint of corn

Mouthfeel: Watery with moderate carbonation

Overall, this isn't a bad beer. But, I won't be having it again unless it is the only decent option.

Poured a crystal clear dark golden yellow with almost a hint of orange with a thin quickly dissipating white head.

The smell is thin, a bit sweet and bready with just a hint of grassy hops.

The flavor is a bit sweeter than the typical Macro Lager, has a light bready quality and a bit of corn flavor. No hop flavors at all to speak of, and no perceptible bitterness.

The mouthfeel is woefully thin and watery.

Your typical Macro Lager, nothing special here.

A: thin white head on a clear straw colored body.

S: sweet corn and grains. Typical.

T: very very watery up front. Sweet corn comes in at the finish with mild hints of lemon. Mild grain notes throughout. Nothing offensive though.

M: light body and high carbonation.

Overall: not offensive but also lacking on flavor may it be offensive or not. Overall drinkable and about what I expected.

Light, transparent white-grape juice colored brew. Surprisingly has descent head and lacing.

Smell of adjuncts, stale corn, rice and of course, skunk.

Adjuncts are less prominent in the flavor but still there. Fairly clean with a crisp, herbal hop character.

Light feel with lively carbonation and dry finish.

Not terrible but not great either. Just a small step above your average adjunct lager.

Labatt has always been my go to macro lager and it remains so today. Better than Canadian and it's American cousins, in my opinion.

Pours pale yellow with white foam, on tap it usually lasts for a few minutes, from the bottle not so much. Very clear and visible carbonation.

Sweet malty taste, a bit of grainy bread, no hops, a bit metallic in the finish.

Good carbonation, slightly watery but really feels pretty smooth on the mouth.

Very drinkable beer, a bit watery.

Tastes better than most of its adjunct competition and (in Canada) is usually a bit cheaper as well. If I'm looking for 24 beers for 29.99 to drink on a summer afternoon at the beach, rather than better stuff at 2 bucks or more a pop, I'll reach for Blue

Easily the best tasting beer in the " standard " section of most supermarket's. Labatt Blue has a somewhat distinct taste, And it is surprisingly VERY smooth for being a so called " average beer ". I picked up a 6 pack for about $7, Which is a great price for what you get. MUCHHH better than Bud Light. This beer makes me wonder why people even still pay the same price for something as horrendous as that famous carbonated piss water. Definitely my beer of choice if I'm just looking to get a quick drunk for cheap

12oz bottle, nonic, no discernable freshness markings.

It looks exactly like one would expect a macro lager to look; startlingly clear, pale yellow, very white head, copious bubbles.

Gratingly dry metallic. A little bit of saltine, possibly some corn. It is what it is; fizzy yellow beer with not much going on.

It tastes of adjunct, whichever one they use in Labatt Blue, in an industrial processed sugar way. Slightly metallic with almost no sweetness despite the sense of sugars.

Blue is a very fizzy beer. The bubbles are palate stinging long after the pour.

Overall it is stark. Flavor and aroma are almost non-existent, so all the bubbles just nip and nip, with nothing to release onto your tongue.

a - very pale yellow and crystal clear with lots of fizz and carbonation. 1 finger head that disappears quickly

s - malty and grainy

t - very watery with slight grainy notes. Nothing else going on here. Dry finish. No off or bad flavoring at all, just lacking much flavor.

m- watery but ok

overall - a tolerable and ok session drinker. I've had more refreshing adjuncts but this one still serves the purpose ok.

Poured into a pils glass. 24 oz. can. I haven't had this since early on in college when it was my go to "good beer." I'm curious to see what I think of it now.

3.0 A: Clear medium yellow color. Two fingers of dense frothy white head. Retention is good, but it does have some help coming from below. No lacing is left.

3.0 S: This is the only AAL that I've had in a long time that smells like there is some malt in it. Light sweet maltiness. Of course, there is a faint corniness to it, but it doesn't smell that bad. No hops.

3.0 T: Much like the nose. Light, almost bready maltiness with hints of corn. No hops. Not as sweet as many other AAL, which is a huge plus.

3.0 M: Light body, but heavier than most. Carbonation level is reasonable. Not creamy, but smooth at least.

3.0 D: It might just be nostalgia, but I swear this isn't as bad as some of the other AALs I've had lately. There's no sickly corny sweetness that is prevalent in others.

Poured from can into a glass

Appearance: Pours a golden color with a white head that goes away rather fast. Carbonation bubbles never stop. Decent amount of lacing left behind.

Smell: Corny aroma with a hint of sweetness and a nice beer smell.

Taste: Sweet taste initially. Not bad. Not sure why so many knock this beer...

Mouthfeel: Nice smooth feel, slightly watery - but not bad. Refreshing.

Overall: The Bud of Canada. Easy to drink with nice flavor. Best when cold, would buy again.

Poured from a 11.5 oz bottle into a 14 oz "pint" glass. Pours a straw yellow with a decent white head, but it does not stay very long at all. Doesn't really smell of anything, mainly of malt if anything. Tastes like a regular adjunct lager, just a little better than most. It is light bodied that is not overly carbonated and is definitely drinkable all night. Overall, a slightly below average beer, but definitely not offensive.
