I hate to review this place because it is my regular shop and it will likely draw more people into stopping by. The folks here know their stuff and Matt is looking for innovative ways to keep customers and brewers excited. Beer theater is one of those methods, linking up customers and brewers via a Skype tasting. The selection is awesome so the only complaint is that some IPAs do sit beyond their optimum freshness. In Richmond though, you're not likely to find any better.
FYI, the right hand side are most of your US and British style beers, and left is other European styles.

I was Richmond for a couple of days and this store was recommended to me by a Richmond BA.
I was there on a Sunday so it was pretty quiet as I was the only customer in there. The beer selection was good, not too different than what I can get where I live. They did have a few limited/seasonal things I have not seen at home before.
The prices were not bad, but did seam to be a dollar or two than some larger stores.
Overall I liked the place and would definitely make an effort to stop by again next time I am in Richmond.

I go to this place about weekly as it is the closest good beer store to my house. Its a small shop in a strip next to Martin's grocery store. Nothing fancy looking in there, cool wine racks in the front but other than that it is a store with shelves for good beer! They have a great selection of beers and they have awesome tastings. Now a days they will have "Beer Theatre" tasting where they will get a brewer via skype on the laptop and we'll run through a tasting WITH the brewer, it makes for a really cool experience. I was there for the one with Anchor, Avery and Epic. 120 came in yesterday and they shot out an email and remembered me when I walked in for my beer.
Matt and Spencer are great guys that are very knowledgeable and have a real passion for what they do. It's great to chat with them and hear what they have to say every time I go in for some brewskies.
If you're in Richmond for some Beer this is the place I would recommend.

Relatively easy to find next to Martin's (Formerly Ukrops) on West Broad, just east of Gaskins.
I was pleasantly surprised by the number of singles available. Several that I hadn't previously seen anywhere else in town, plus a great selection of bombers with once again, many that I hadn't seen anywhere else. I was even able to find one lonely WWS from last year on the shelf, what, 11 months after release? They also have a 10% discount on singles with a price tag on top when you build a sixer out of them (opposed to singles with price not marked with a sticker on top, which doesn't qualify for the discount).
Layout was very beer shopper friendly, as the beer section took up pretty much the entire back 1/3 of the shop. The singles were on both sides of teh two walls in back with most imports on the left and American crafts on the right. Some sixers and singles were available in the cooler. The environment was nice with the classical music playing while you looked around the woo floored establishment.
The fellow at the checkout area was very nice and helpful. He also struck up a conversation about what I had purchased and had proven somewhat knowledgeable in the beer world.
I really enjoyed my visit here and plan on going back as often as I am in this part of town!

Located in a strip mall, this place was a bit tough to find, but I finally found it. I was looking for stuff I cant find in NC and my mission was accomplished. The main gems I found were Viking Blod (19% abv isnt available in NC) as well as some Schlafly, Legend, and Willimasburg Alewerks seasonals. The prices were very reasonable. The best thing about this place is that they dont jack you for purchasing beers in singles. If a six pack is $10, purchasing the same beer individually may add 10% which is very reasonable. Most places raise the prices over 20% for singles, IF they even have them. Service as impecable. The guy working the counter was a bit hyperactive, but I think he just loved his job, which is always a great attribute. This is a great place to get beer. Located near the interstate. I will most definitely return in the future.

Very nice selection of beers for the area. Lots of hard to finds and the usual favorites with a good balance of micros and imports. Prices were as expected, most things you'll find cheaper at larger retailers but there were a few good deals. The service was good, the guy working there was very helpful with a few specific beers that I asked about and was very knowledgeable. A great selection of Belgian beers, more than I would expect anyway, and all at reasonable prices. A lot of stuff wasn't labeled with the price which was a bit annoying but I'm willing to overlook that since their selection was so good. Definitely worth a look if you live in the area, it's only a few minutes down the road from Total Wine and they have lots of different things than TW, and in some cases better prices.

Made a stop in here a couple weeks ago while making a stop in Short Pump, since it's conveniently located only a few blocks away.
Nice little location, a good layout, and a decent selection of singles... decent selection of everything, really. Not quite as much as I feel I can find in Charlottesville, but a couple different, perhaps. Price seemed comparable to what I am used to.
The selection of Belgians here is decent, and they sit in a nice spot on the left wall (whereas most of the others are on the right). The clerks seemed a bit busy discussing some store matters while I was there, so service wasn't really something I could rate as good or bad, so average it is, with the benefit of the doubt.

Stopped in here along with just about every other place in Richmond. Was greeted with a small selection of glassware followed by an entire wall of sixers and bombers. The back wall was coolers with a limited selection. There were some stacks of cases in the center with a moderate Belgian selection in the back of the opposite wall. Was very pleasantly surprised to find out they do offer mixed sixers at a 10% discount on the single bottle price. They also had Duvel tulips among their glassware that were only 4 bucks, allowing me to replace one that tragically shattered several weeks ago. While the selection was somewhat behind Once Upon a Vine, it seemed right on par with Corks & Kegs. I'd recommend visiting both if your in the area to catch anything the other doesn't have as they are not far from each other.

I suppose I was expecting a lot from this place since so many of the folks before reviewing liked it a lot, not to mention a few BAs have told me to check it out if I haven't. I live about 15 minutes away since I'm in the fan, but decided to give it a go to stock up and see what this place is all about.
It's literally right to the left of the Ukrops, which I didn't know at first, on the edge of a little strip mall on W. Broad.
Upon entering, there's a lot of open space with most of the wine initially on the left and right. Toward the back of the store, on the right, you'll find the 6-packs and even further the bombers and single bottles. The cold case is the last part of the store. Toward the back and to the left are the Belgians, with 4-packs and single bottles, right next to where the wine ends.
The selection's good, but it didn't blow me away. You can get pretty much everything there at Corks & Kegs and Once Upon a Vine. They did have some single bottles of Bells normal stuff like Portrer, Amber, and Pale Ale that I wanted to try and bought. I got a bomber of Left Hand Warrior IPA and Legend Barleywine 2007.
The prices seemed lower on some things than the other aforementioned stores, but then there were some that seemed a little higher, so certainly reasonable overall.
I probably wouldn't make the trip out here again, since I live closer to C&K and OUAV, but I could see going to this place if you're closer to that area of Broad Street. Good overall, but nothing to go out of your way for.

Great selection here. I recently stopped by WBW because their newsletter said they had gotten their hands on some Vintage Old Horizontal. That is one of the things I love about this place - they actually make use of their e-mail newsletter.
They have a big selection, that appears to have been expanded recently. Lots of Belgians/Belgian, singles, seasonals, and a cooler for pre-chilled stuff.
I did notice, off the top of my head, that DFH Golden Era was more expensive here than I'd seen elsewhere, which is why I gave it 3$.
Overall, a great place to shop.
