Stopped in here when I was out in SD visiting Stone because of all of the great recommendations I'd read everywhere. They were not kidding...
Great vibe to the place and friendly helpful staff that went along well with their excellent selection.
I have to give a special shout out to Mark who, after we talked shop for a bit, was nice enough to pull a few special bottles out of the back for me... REALLY made my trip. Highly recommended and a must stop for anyone who makes the drive out from SD to visit Stone...

This was one of the beer stores on my list of places to go while down in the SD area for a few days. Stopped here after going to Stone Bistro and on my way back up to LA.
Walked in and was greeted by a nice, albeit clustered store. Found my way to the beer section and almost immediately the beer guy approached me and asked if I had any questions. I've learned to just ask flat out if they have anything special in the back since I know the "special" beers won't often see the light of day on shelves. We BS'd back and forth a bit (I told him I was from LA so we were trying to figure out what beers he had in the back I didn't really have access to) and he came up with a few beers I have not seen by me, including the prize beer find of my trip, a 2009 BA Wee Heavy - one of 972. The service was great and the beer guy knew what was up, the selection was also outstanding, lots of imports (found Black Albert among other things) and the prices were a hint on the higher side but not outrageous. This would again be a store I stop at if I go down to SD again. Again, I emphasize the service - the beer guy was totally chill and legit.

Simply put; this place is awesome. Great laid back atmosphere, music is good, they were playing some Pink Floyd and Marley last time I was there, and it has never been overly crowded when I have been there...
As far as Service, everyone I have dealt with have been very knowlegeable and helpful. The last guy actually went into the back to get my buddy and I a MOAS from the back. He also offered us a 05 Old Gaurdian. Can't remember his name, but thanks again for the great service man!
Selection and qaulity are excellent. They have a good amount of brews that are harder to find, and have a really good selection of local SD brews. They also have a really nice lineup of RR, and a whole isle dedicated to Belgiums!
Can't say enough good things about this place. If you are in the area, this is a must stop. Definitely one of the best places I have encountered in the SoCal area for craft..

My wife and I stopped in here today while we were in Escondido.
I gave them 5's in quality and selection because they have a huge selection of great craft beers which rivals any store I've been to in San Diego. I'd say, of the beer selection, it's 95% craft beer. They have one cooler door with the macros in it. They also have some decent ciders and a good selection of mead.
Service was average, prices are average.
The bottom line is, if you're in San Diego, and you love good beer, this place is a "must visit". At least once to check it out.

Nice big liquor store in Esconidido, there is a whole bunch of Wine, Beer, and Spirits here.
The beer section has about 6 coolers and a few racks of room temperature beer. They make good use of the coolers, it seemed that all the hoppy beers and beers I would want to be in the coolers were there, and all the ones where it didn't matter as much were out on the shelves.
The selection was superb for bombers and other single bottles. I don't know if beer geeks buy 6 packs anymore but this place didn't really have too many, if you just wanted to grab a 6'er real quick for the weekend you may be better of going to the Bevmo down the street. They have all of the more hard to get stuff at this place.
Service was decent, he went and looked for a beer for me that had just been released, but they were all out already.
Good store that I will be stopping at in Esconidido from now on.

This will probably end up being my (greater area) San Diego bottle shop stop. The staff was friendly without being annoying, helpful but not elitist or patronizing (both things I sometimes run into in SoCal beer havens sad to say). The selection was amazing and generally well within freshness dates. It seemed like all the IPAs were in the fridge, a particular point of care that I'm not used too. Prices seemed a bit high, but I'm not surprised considering the selection and care taken.
Thanks for making my 4 hour drive into the city a beer success.

JustinA1 and I stopped into Holiday for the first time on Sunday afternoon.
Holiday Wine Cellar deserves the A+. I felt like a kind in a candy shop on Sunday. Not only does the store stock a ton of fresh San Diego IPAs, but they carry dozens of lambics, sours, and interesting European ales (worth noting: I saw a lot of harder-to-find offerings from Mikkeller, Nøgne Ø, and Haandbryggeriet). The wall coolers were filled predominantly with high quality west coast micros, followed by German beers, English ales, and a smattering of Japanese offerings. About half of the total selection is kept in wall coolers, the other half resides on adjacent shelves.
After about 30 minutes of perusing, I stepped to the register with 2009 Bourbon Barrel Old Stock, a fresh (Winter) YuleSmith, a very fresh Nelson IPA, and a Kern River Just Outstanding IPA. The cashier was very nice and really seemed to know his way around craft beer. He then added me to their database so he/I could track my purchases and email me about sales, coupons, etc.
All in all, I had a very positive experience here. Next time I'm in north SD county, I'll make my way back to Holiday Wine Cellar.

I lived in Escondido my whole childhood and always used to see their giant "liquor" sign and think it was cool. If I only knew what was really inside!
This place was great! Great selection of Belgiums, American, and German beers alike. All the hop heavy beers where in the cooler for primo storage. I didnt look at the wine very much but they did have a lot so it might be a good place to bring the wife or girlfriend and let them do their thing while you do yours.
The pricing was more than fair. Ive been tired of seeing stores that know they have a good beer selection jack up the prices.
I will be back here for sure!

The beer buying staff there is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The selection at Holiday Wine Cellar is always great. Lots of locals of course like Alpine, Lost Abbey, Stone, Green Flash, Russian River. But there are Rows and rows of other stuff too. They are getting more and more every time I go. They let you know when stuff is going to be coming in if you ask. Sometime you got to wait as far as the service goes, but they are busy, so I understand. Sometimes Holiday Wine Cellar even cellars stuff for you and re-release it sometimes (abeit at a MUCH higher price).

This place has the best beer selection. Stopped by here on the way to Stone. They have a large selections of Belgians and domestic beers. a true beer lovers paradise. They have an expansive collection of wine and cigars as well as a private tasting room downstairs. I want to go to SD just to visit this place. You are able to view their inventory off their website and pick up locally or ordered off the phone. Their beer buyers name is Jordan and he has the complete low down of the entire inventory and rares that he might be holding in the back for purchase.
