Probably their best bottled beer. Pours black as night with a somewhat slight, though creamy, head. Creamy and light roasty notes in the nose with slight coffee and chocolate notes. More of the same in the taste, but with a nice smack of bitterness followed by the roasty and then creamy notes. Some nice dark chocolate throughout, but the overall impression is of something soft and creamy with a background of bitterness and chocolate- think of a pretty good cup of coffee- but with a lot of cream. That makes the whole package a little simpler than it might be, but it's still a pleasant beer and a change of pace.

12oz bottle with no dating.
I like the pour - midnight black with a bulging two finger mocha tan head. Lace is a crazy thick blanket of stickiness - every sip leaves its mark and almost no holes. I noticed it was leaving lace in the bottle on the pour. Nice.
Not much coming at your nose from this. Roasted malts are not rising up from the depths here. I get some coffee notes, but more than anything I get hops and a little dark fruit.
Cold from the bottle does not do this beer justice, it only subdues. Upon warming, it wakes up from the dead - big dark roast coffee, bittersweet bakers chocolate, a vanilla flash followed by a hefty hop finish. Somewhat of an Irish taste here.
Medium chewy body with somewhat dry ending. Nice carb.
Choc is not known for big black stouts. This is not spectacular, but it's not a bad start. Good job, Choc.

Went to my favorite Beer and Wine shop, Hop City Beer and Wine and got a this offering in a growler. Poured a two finger head, very dark almost black and has very good lacing. The nose begins with a sweet malty yet hoppy aroma. The taste kinda puts me in the mind of a Black IPA as the hops are somewhat prominent, which I like, but then the chocolate malts come through which are in the stout vein. It's a light mouthfee which I would be better in my opinion medium. Overall I'm really enjoying this one and will have again.

Thanks mom!! She Went on a business trip and she brought back a ton of beer for me and my wife.
A very dark brown but ot the blackest thing I've seen. Very nice one if ger head after vigorous pour. Beautiful lacing. Great looking.
S bitter chocolate, light sweetness, tiny coffee, dark malt
T very light beginning of sweet chocolate, the middle is a soft bitter hops and chocolate and the end is an earthy bitter chocolate and ever so light coffee.
M soft, sweet, smooth, lit carbonation.
O this is an excellent beer if it is an easy to find one. Good for a daily drinker. Don't know if it is super limited or expensive since it was a gift.

Pours a dark brown, almost black with a big dark tan head, a mix of big and little bubbles.
Very toasty aroma.
Flavor is a a monstrous dry stout bomb. Lots of bitter notes. Lingering dryness. Slight acidic prickle. Definitely some hops in there with some pineyness in the mix. Also maybe a bit of cab sav red wine in the mix.
Very bitter aftertaste.
Overall, this is a great dry stout. Personally though, I would have liked just a little bit more malty sweetness to balance things out.

Duvel Tulip
A ~ Pours black with a good amount of tan head. Lacing is streaky & really all over the place. Big bubbles of carb that settle down after a minute or two.
S ~ A healthy amount of citrus forward hops that set things off very nicely. Roast notes are close behind but nothing too burnt or over-astringent. Hints of apricots & pine tar. Black currant as things warm up.
T ~ Big, Big hop notes behind notes of burnt wood & coffee grounds. Hopes lending notes of stonefruit, piney resins, & grapefruit. Concentrated flavors here!
M ~ Feel is full and sticky with a medium amount of roast & high amounts of hop bitterness. Slightly ashy/chalky. Carbonation is full. Very resinous.
D ~ This is a great stout for all seasons. Simply well done, I was extremely shocked. Drinks like a low gravity Imperial Stout. Highly recommended.

Received from thehand (Chris) in the recent NFL BIF. Thanks! Poured from 12 oz. bottle into Founder's tulip.
A: Pours a viscous black color with a very frothy three finger head. Awesome, chalky like lacing remains on the edge of the glass.
N: Man, big roasted malt nose, with a slight bit of piney hop. A good amount of chocolate malt and barley.
T: Very dry character with more of that roasted goodness. Very assertive resin like pine hop character. Bit of charred oak is coming through with some earthy grass notes. Very big and bold flavors, not completely working together, but a nice overall profile.
M: A dry stout, with a chalky mouthfeel. For the amount of flavor, it isn't very lasting. Kind of falls flat on the finish.
D and O: A solid, every day stout. Lots of flavor, and a good broad spectrum of flavor. Happy to have sampled this one, I've had some good beers out of Oklahoma.

Poured into a boulevard tulip, I immediately realize this should have been poured into a snifter or pint glass
A- Dark brown/black body, no light allowed through. Not sure if it is the tulip or the beer but a massive light tan head sits on top of this beer that hangs around forever... 5 minutes and i still have 3 fingers of foam. 10 minutes, i finally can see beer 3
S Cocoa, malt, barley and hops. not to complex but pleasant 3
T I am immediately hit in the face with hops. As my palate recuperates from the immediate hop attack, i start to taste a nice, blend of cocoa, malt, a hint of coffee and bit of molasses. 3
M This is fairly thin and very dry. The carbonation, as indicated by the head is is very present. This definitely has the feel of a dry, irish stout. 2.5
O This beer is ok, not sure if it was intended to be a dry irish stout or a Russian Imperial that the OG was heavily missed on. I would not seek this out but if handed one or if stuck at an okie BMC party and were available, I would definitely take it. 3

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tulip pint glass.
A: Opaque black color with two fingers of persistent beige foam head. Heavy lacing remains on the glass.
S: Coniferous hops are potent, almost one-note, with only fine threads of earth and chocolate syrup detectable.
T: Begins off-dry, with assertive and husky roasted malt that is just as dominant in the first act of the flavor as hops were in the smell. A darkly unctuous quality is also present early. Acidity is restrained into the middle, where piney and herbaceous hop flavors begin to rise until an equilibrium with the malt component is reached. Earthy minerality surges last, joining the other flavors already established, as well as a late whiff of freshly-ground coffee, in the moderately bitter finish.
M: Thin to medium viscosity, wet and slightly sticky on the palate, with low carbonation.
D/O: This stout hits a sweet spot with a precision that is almost peerless at times. Considering the fact that it weighs in under 7% abv, the economy of the sensory qualities encountered here are truly remarkable. While the smell is a bit overpowering and not especially to-style when taken alone, it offers an interesting contrast to the flavors that are initially malt-forward. This may be the Krebs/Choc beer that the world has been waiting for.
