Bottle received in a trade with Coldmeat. Poured into a Koningshoeven chalice.

A: Cherry wood brown with a tan foam collar.

S: Very bright and fruity yeast aromas. Grape and banana in particular are apparent along with a touch of caramel malt. Smells like it should be pretty sweet.

T: Starts slightly sweet with raisin, apple and bready flavors, followed with a little spice. Finishes a little short and on the dry side.

M: Medium-bodied with light carbonation resulting in a pretty smooth feel.

This is a little lighter than some of the better known dubbels out there, but is well-done, especially the aroma. Easily the best beer i have had from Choc and would be happy to drink again.

Pours lightly hazy, dark brown-amber from a 22 oz bottle., Had a huge, medium density, tan head on top that settled fairly quickly.

Smell: Bready with dark fruits and subtle chocolate. [Served too cold, probably impairing the aroma and flavor.]

Taste: WAY more like a Belgian quad than expected, with a alcohol presence that seemed more like 9%. Also seemed more like a barrel-aged beer than one would expect. The apparent booziness is not unwelcome, and seems to add complexity, if perhaps overwhelming some more subtle flavors.

Mouthfeel: Medium+ body with medium-high carbonation; harsh for style.

Overall: A pretty good, but not great, example of the dubbel style; Compared to a true Belgina dubbel, this one has a more intense flavor (more like a quad) and, perhaps, is slightly less aromatic.

Brought the bottle back from Oklahoma city a year ago...poured in a chalice....lost an ounce on the floor as this is a gusher! Minimal head quickly disappeared. Aroma of raisins, figs, dark malt, caramel. Moderate carbonation, full moutfeel, overall quite tasty. Notes of raisins, caramel, dark malts, galangal root, and a subtle alcohol warmth. As it warms up more melon rind notes appear...small sediment floaties at the end. Nice complexity and flavors.

A growler from Ale Yeah, Roswell, GA served in a Westmalle chalice.

A - A dark bourbon brown with a fizzy head that runs away quickly and no lacing from my sampling.

S - Sweet caramel notes with a hint of buttery bread.

T - The caramel and roasty malt goodness comes through on the front end of the palate. Surprisingly the middle carries a little hops nugget. It leaves on the back-end with a nice buttery belgian taste you would expect with some of the roasted taste coming back for an encore.

M - The battle between the tight carbonation and the slippery feel (Who said Diacetyl is a bad thing) keep your mouth from being bored.

O - A very good and fairly complex representation of the style. If you are looking for a dubbel with a little something extra then this beer won't disappoint at all. Yet another quality effort from the little brewery from OK.

2012 batch...

A - thick dark brown color with a couple fingers of fizzy tan head on top. Head reduces down quickly, but a thin layer retains very well, no lacing though.

S - Belgian candi sugar, spices and some bready malt... Appropriate to style

T - candi sugar and spices upfront, rounded out with bready and coffee brown malts. Finishes with a slight dark fruit sweetness.

M - overcarbed for sure... Stinging feeling to the tounge... Also some cloying sweetness coating the tongue at the end

O - a good dubbel brewed in OK... Try it out

Poured from 750ml bottle between GuldenDraak tulip and Chimay goblet.

Appearance – Pours a hazy dark amber body with slight copper hue. Thick tan head produces mild lacing with average dissipation.

Aroma - Rich malty complexity, toasty notes, raisin character. Fruity esters moderate including cherries and some subtle apple character. Phenolic spices are low.

Taste – Strong malt sweetness that is highly complex. Fruity undertones are present to the palate. Mild phenol spices present, akin to clove, most noticeable alongside a dry finish. Bitterness is medium with balance toward malt.

Mouthfeel – A medium body with medium carbonation. Low alcohol warmth is present.

Overall – A surprisingly good Dubbel…..from Oklahoma. More thoroughbred Belgian-lovers will notice the differences, but this beer is all about the malt complexity, offering a surprising and highly enjoyable beer.

Thanks 4balance for this beer. It's been on my radar for some time now. Poured from bomber to pokal:

Pours a nice ruby red / pear gold body with a noisy finger of off white head that dissipates almost instantly. Steady, slow beading.

The nose is certainly Belgian - sour bread, figs, red grapes, some funky yeast, raisins, there's a touch of soft wood if you really hunt for it.

On the tongue, it's a bit more agreeable than many true Belgian dubbels. There's a certain level of balance that you might not be familiar with.

I wish the mouthfeel was a bit thicker. One of my favorite aspects of the quad/dubbel genre is that velvety consistency. Apart from that though, this beer is well executed.

Poured into a St. Bernardus Chalice, bottle spewed foam when I opened it, luckily it was over the sink!

Brownish-red murky color with 1/2" off white head that immediately dissipated to a small ring with minor lacing that also disappears quickly.

Smells like sweet bread, booze, spice, caramel and malts.

Tastes even better that the smell, buttery sweet bread, caramel, toffee, dates, golden raisins, malty with slight peppery spice to the finish to balance it out.

Rich creamy mouthfeel with a sweet buttery essence, medium bodied.

Overall a really good Belgian Style Dubbel from a local American brewery - Highly recommended. Cheers ~

22oz into a tulip. Pours a copperish OK red clay, encouraging pour required to raise a dense tannish head that receded fairly quick, minor lacing.

Yeasty dark fruit aroma including solvent over ripe banana esters.

Fairly sweet, traditional carameld raisinets but with a touch of zinc. The phenolic aftertaste is not a strength but nice none the less. Medium bodied.
