Enjoyed this one at Twin Peaks in Greenville, SC while enjoying the sights if you catch my drift. Served from tap into a Twin Peaks tall mug. Poured a hazy yellow-orange with a half finger white head that subsided to a minimal amount quickly. Maintained decent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, wheat, earth, and earth hop. The flavor was of sweet malt, wheat, earth, earth hop, and subtle citrus. It had a light feel on the palate with medium-high carbonation. Overall this was a fairly average brew. I can see what they were trying to do with this brew, but it just seemed to fall short in my opinion. There were a lot of things going on in this one that if they would have been a little more balanced. This would have stepped up the enjoyable aspects of this one quite a bit. Doubt I would have this one again given the option, but at least the view was nice while having this one.

Presentation: Had on tap at Hopjacks recently. Described by the server as an unfiltered wheat and listed as 6% ABV.
Appearance: Arrives in a Shaker pint with 1.5 fingers of pure white head. This settles slowly leaving behind near complete lacing coverage. The beer itself is a cloudy, chalky yellow.
Smell: Lemony with an almost soapy backdrop. But not in a bad way.
Taste: Distinct citrus upfront. In the first split second, tastes almost like the soda Squirt. Lingering wheat twang.
Mouthfeel: Higher than average carbonation, as would seem appropriate for a wheat. Good body.
Drinkability: Very refreshing.

A- Golden colored beer that was pretty opaque. There were little or not particles in the beer. The head was barely visible and dissapated quickly.
S- There was barely any smell, but it had a grainy smells as well as some fruit either lemon or peachy
T- Taste was decent but not very strong or memorable. Definitely some lemon or peach at work. It was an ok taste but you won't come away amazed at it.
MF- very lightly carbonated, I hardly noticed anything. It is a light bodied beer
D- Very easy to drink but a very average beer, not one that you would go out seeking

Had on tap at the Mercury Lounge in Tulsa. I have no idea why 1919 and Choc are listed as seperate beers. I always thought they were the same thing. Anyway, pours a slightly cloudy golden color with a small, fizzy white head. Not much lacing, but a little.
Smells of mouth-puckering sour lemons, funk, orange zest, and wheat.
Light on the palate. A funky lemon flavor hits pulling lighter sour citrus and wheats notes in tow.
Being a former Oklahoma resident this one holds a special place in my heart. By far my favorite session beer and what I always reach for when I'm in town visiting the family.

A - A nice yellow color with the initial pour with nice head and decent lacing.
S - A fruitful aroma.
T - Very "zesty" in terms of fruit appeal that finishes with a tart bite.
M- perhaps overly carbonated. I felt as if the carbonation was a bit much because of the tartness.
D - I enjoyed the tartness of the beer, bit it may not be for everyone.

I like the story about this beer, so given the chance I decided it was at least worth a try. The beer has a hazy, straw-gold color and is topped by a frothy, pale, off-white colored head. The aroma is surprisingly fruity (at least I wasn't expecting this), but has a lot of grainy notes to it (grassy-grain, pale-cracker notes) as well as some faint herbal aromatics, a touch of honey, some melon and some sweet, green apple aromas. An interesting aroma, though it is not particularly inviting.
The beer has a very light body to it and there is a soft tartness to it that I was not expecting at all. The beer is quite dry with only a touch of grain sweetness. There is a soft bitterness in the finish that is actually quite noticeable given that everything else about the beer is so light. I was definitely hoping for something that was a bit less macro-oriented (aka bland). The historical story of this beer tempted me with the promise of a taste of history and character. Instead my misgivings were well founded and this comes off more like a bland, light lager competing type of beer. This of course does have more flavor than a light lager and is not bad for what it is, I was just hoping for a bit more.

A_Cloudy orange/yellow with minimal head, no lacing.
S_Rather mild, slight wheaty twang and a hint of lemon.
T_Rather mild yet again. The flavour leans towards the wheat side with subtle hints of lemon and soap. The finish actually has a good bit of black pepper.
M_Thin bodied with a low level of carbonation. Very poor for the style.
T_The taste and the body leave much to be desired. This definitely is not a strong example of the style.

As an Okie I should support this brew. Good people that make and seel it, but it is a lawnmower beer at best.
Poured a light strawberry blonde.
Smelled of a very light wheat yeast and hidden hops.
Tasted with a decent mouthfeel. Once past that I didn't know what was going on. Light everywhere, in the hops, malt. Just an understated beer. I do drink this beer, to support the cause, but I think this brewery can do much better things.

Sampled at Pete's and from both bottle and can. Wonderful example of an American Wheat. Pours a very cloudy tarnished yellow-gold with a generous white head. A spicy, floral aroma is followed by a balanced, spicy, yeasty, grainy wheat flavor. Finishes clean and dry. Light bodied and well-carbonated.

If you are in Oklahoma, try this beer. I will have to admit that it's history (this was made as far back as Prohibition) is richer than the beer itself. The beer is not bad, but it is not anything particularly remarkable either. It has a nice permanent head that you'd expect from a wheat beer, a cloudy orange color and loads of carbonation. The flavor is fairly typical for the style and it finishes dry. I hear that this is a modernized version of the original indigenous Choctaw indian brew that Pete, the founder of the restaurant, began brewing for the local miners way back when. The growlers and glasses make nice souvenirs. If you are ever in eastern Oklahoma, I recommend a trip to Krebs for the Pete's experience.

Into a pint glass. Has a thin (almost no head) with a hazy light straw colored body.
Smell of honey and the tiniest bit of lemon.
Strong, dry lemon taste. A bit chalky. Out of balance.
Moderate carbonation with a fizzy and crisp texture.
Meh, not a fan.

Can't believe I've never reviewed this one. It's never been my favorite American wheat but it's everywhere here in Okla and has an interesting history. Super grainy all the way through, like the dust produced when running barley through a mill. Hops are light and earthy which adds to the rustic flavor profile. Like I said, just so-so, but a notch or two above most domestic lagers if you find yourself at a bar/party in Oklahoma where this is an option.

The beer pours a very light clear yellow color with a white head. The aroma is full of grain and grass with not too much else going on. The flavor is also pretty basic. There is a lot of malt sweetness and a strong grain and grass character. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Not much going on here and not something to seek out.

Served in an pint glass from a 12oz brown bottle.
Color is between gold and amber and is slightly hazed. This beer has never been much of a looker to me as it does not produce much of a head which disappears rapidly. No lace to speak of. I do like the color though.
Aromas are scant, but I'd say an apple/grape comes through without any problem. Some bottles present with a bubble gum smell, but it's inconsistent. The wheatberry whiff is there, but you may need to warm it up.
Flavors top the aroma score. Cracked wheat, apples, honey, and some lemon grass are detectable, but nothing is shaking the earth.
I do like the feel of 1919. A bit undercarbonated for a wheat, but this is not a German witbier copy either.
I've been drinking Choc brews for several years. Overall 1919 is an okay brew and highly drinkable if you want to drink several with friends. Don't expect massive mind blowing flavors here. This beer is brewed because it has history. It's part of the Choc story series which makes it interesting and once you know the story, you can appreciate the fact that this is not intended to be a typical wheat. It is it's own thing. If you're more interested in a somewhat traditional witbier, then check out Choc Waving Wheat which I prefer to 1919.

Pours a very cloudy, dark golden yellow color with banana hues and a thin white head that quickly fizzles away. Not much in the way of lacing.
Spicy aroma with some pepper and cloves countered by some bready yeast, citrus fruit and banana. There's a nice amount of lemon zest providing a nice counter to the spice and yeast notes.
Thin bodied and slightly watered down with soft carbonation and some zesty spice up front that lingers over the yeast and fruit notes into a slightly dry finish. Hints of pepper and clove up front countered mid-palate by a nice bready yeast presence followed by some lemon zest and faint banana.
Overall, this beer has all of the characteristics of the style but nothing stands out and it kind of bland.

Poured from bottle (bought off sale rack) into an Imp pint glass.
A: Looks like a golden wheat beer. Very little to no head. A bit of lacing, but nothing much.
S: Wheat and sweet. Maybe like a bit of wheat/apple juice. I'm digging deep on smells, and there is a bit of spiciness here.
T: Apple juice. Actually, it's like watered-down apple juice. Aftertaste is all wheat.
M: As non-existent as the flavor. It's very watery.
O: I can't say that it sucks because there isn't anything offensive. It's remarkably un-remarkable. There's nothing here. Sorry, Choc.

This beer? Kind of gross.
Beer is yellow / amber with a mild haze and some head, minimal lacing, some carbonation. Looks like beer.
The aroma is grainy and wet. Eh.
Beer is super thin and really grainy with a harsh aftertaste, minimal yeast character, minimal hop contribution, rough.

Thanks to my folks for pickipg up this out of reach Oklahoma beer while they were in Arkansas.
Cloudy pale copper color with a light head and okay foam after a few sips. Great bubbling.
Light, powdery banana yeast aroma coupled with toasted, dry wheat and barely. Tooasty and chalky aroma.
Taste is powdered with powdered bread product and banana and clove powder with a little chalk
palate to boot. Not a bad session beer, but nothing special and not worth seeking out is this particular CHOC beer ias unavailable to you.

Bottle into pint glass
A – Very small fizzy head dissipated immediately to a broken crown despite what appears to be moderate carbonation, brew is a cloudy pale yellow w/ a slight amber 2.5
S – Overall mild yeasty bread with lemon notes 3
T – Semi-sweet bready malts to a mild citrus zest bitter finish with subtle spiciness. A pretty bland beer, but a step above any BMC. 3
M – Light body with moderate carbonation, smooth like a wheat should be 3
O – An easy drinker, I won’t be revisiting this beer unless I’m stuck in OK with nothing more worthy on tap or bottle 3

Small white head quickly dies into a pretty decent lacing above a murky yellow ocher to rusty tan colored beer.
A very light citrus almost soapy citrus hops with a light grain background aroma.
Bland milky grain with some light cooking spices kick to it taste.
A light milky aftertaste that borders on being dry.
Pretty weird and different for a beer, reminds me more of Yoo-hoo style drink, sorry but I'll stick to beer for the time being.

Poured into Boston Lager glass...
A: after swirling the last 1/3 of beer in the bottle, it pours a murky light brown, similar to a mud puddle. head is 1 finger and has good retention
S: nice aroma of wheat, powdered sugar, and lemon zest
T: a full palate of wheaty goodness, caramel malt sweetness, then becomes slightly fruity before a clean finish with a hint of hop bitterness
M: medium full body that is creamy upfront that goes down smooth with a chalky dry finish, although i feel it is appropriate for this style.
Overall, alot better than i had expected. not usually a fan of the american pale wheat ale, but this one is damn good. It is highly drinkable any time of year. I could drink this in fall and winter as it has a nice caramel sweetness throughout the beer. Only bought a single in a mix a sixer, but I will seek out a six pack

As others have commented, this is an unusual beer. Choc does not filter their beers, so the beer is cloudy and golden. You usually find sediment at the bottom of the bottle, depending upon how you pour and whether you rinse the bottle before recycling.
The taste is difficult to describe, though I found the wheat flavor and smell much more pronounced than the typical hop bitterness of most pale ales. It is not an especially high alcohol beer, so if you like it, then it is quite drinkable as a session beer.

The flagship. Supposedly a weirdass, minimally hopped American wheat. Before reviewing, lemme say that I love how American wheats have evolved just in the past several years, how the wheat is like a blank canvas and it's absolutely acceptable to paint whatever you want upon that canvas. I'm not going to turn that into a metaphor for America, but someone probably could.
This smells like honey, barley, and wheat. Nothing intense or impressive.
Tastes like honey, barley, wheat, and a hint of an odd, generic fruitiness the likes of which I cannot wrap my head around. It--if it were more aggressive or pronounced, I could describe it better. But this is immediately, recognizably new *and* understated. That runs counter to whole the world works, these days. It tastes sour and fruity and weird, and I like it.

12 OZ bottle poured into a pint glass.
Appearance- Murky, cloudy dirty straw color. Fine bubbled head dissipates quite quickly. No lacing at all.
Smell- Citrus notes very subdued. Not a strong aroma of much of anything. Unimpressive smell.
Taste- What a bizarre taste. I'm lost for words to find a good description. Its very sweet, like frosting, yet fruity and yeasty. Not what I was expecting. Quite tasty, in fact.
Overall- It's so different I couldn't drink it on a regular basis, but I can see how one would acquire a taste for it. It is quite good.

Popping the top yields the classic earthy wheat beer smell with a hint of spice albumin if I'm not mistaken. The brew pours to a singapore sling-like deep yellow and orange. On the taste the brew is spicy like allspice at the start then very wheaty and sour in the middle. Finishing more sour yet hearty at the finish. The aftertaste is quite spicy almost like a meatpie then the bittterness is barely evident and fades out chalky yet lingering. A stout wheat brew in a great American style. This beer would go great with a big fat steak or a bowl of chili. Tasty indeed.
