Second stop on my brewpub tour of Oklahoma City and it comes in second place to Bricktown and beats Royal Bavaria.
Just in time for the end of happy hour and a $1.75 pint of their IPA which was highly regarded...by them. "Serious" work has been done over the past four years. "Best in state." It had some floral aroma and was clean with a sweet finish on the first sip. Not bad but only half as good as the excellent IPA I had at Bricktown on my next stop.
Not sure I was crazy about the mixed beer drinks on the menu. That's a first in many brewpub stops.
Atmosphere was like any chain restaurant - think Ruby Tuesday or Applebees which I avoid.

Cleaning up my hard drive I found the following review tucked away in a forgotten folder.
Stopped in here on 23 Dec 2006 on our way to Missouri. Only a couple of tables were occupied. A had the bleu cheese and onion burger, was good. I had the turkey sandwich, disappointed with the turkey (seemed packaged) and foccacia bread (dry & crumbly). Menu seemed a bit too diverse to do anything well. Lots of seafood which seemed out of place. Beers in general were a bit on the watery side, nothing too out of place but nothing too interesting either. All seemed a bit low in alcohol, not sure if that was our imagination or because of Oklahoma's 3.2 law.
Atmosphere pedestrian, dull. Would likely not return.

I went on a Wed. afternoon and picked up the 5 beers / 5oz each sampler for $4 with tip. That was a pretty good deal. Most of their pints are about $3.50 each, which would be a great deal....if the beers tasted a bit better.
Atmosphere was not too bad, about what you'd expect. They have a 2 story restaurant / bar. I was only there for the beer so didn't try the food, but the bar was medium sized. It could maybe hold 50 people without feeling too crowded. It was smokey, and there were several TVs and dart boards the kinds of things you'd expect to find.
The location is right next to Penn Square mall near the northwest expressway in Oklahoma city. They share a building with some offices and some kind of tech school but for the most part the building is empty which feels a bit odd as you are leaving or entering.
The staff were young and good looking (they obviously weren't drinking much beer) they didn't know much about beer but were typically friendly.
This is an odd place. They are trying to make a go of things and I encourage them. Oklahoma doesn't have much in the way of micro beer, but the location could be better and if you read the reviews, the beer could be better too.

As far as the beer goes, one word: ICK!!!!
What was once OKC's best brewpub now ranks with the worst! When I went in after a lengthy absence, I was disappointed to find that the beer quality had gone to pot! I had seen a decline when one of the owners (who had no brewing experience) had taken over as the brewmaster and it has only gotten worse.
The wheat was thin and lacked character. The porter was watery and didn't quite have the malt for much of a finish. And the amber, which used to be my favorite, was just bland, lacking the subtle hoppiness and hint of sweetness it once had.
To top it off, the upstairs brewpub smelled and looked like I was drinking in an actual ash tray filled with stale beer!
The food is still good and the restaurant downstairs is still clean, but that's the only thing that will keep me coming back to Belle Isle.

The few times i've been in Belle Isle Brewery they had about 5-6 of their craft brew on tap. Last time I went I was drinking their IPA. It was a watered down version of one of my favorite styles of beer. Originally being from Oklahoma I understand that there isn't an above average brewpub. The food is pretty solid. I've had pizza, fried mushrooms, and burgers at the belle isle brewery. All in all i'd say it's not a bad place, especially for okc. But if you're an out-of-towner looking for a brewpub with outstanding craft brew, you will probably be disappointed.

Visited in November 2006: A vast two-tiered tavern in an odd little shopping center. The upstairs bar is a smoky college-party, pool-playing, dart-throwing environment. Downstairs has more of a restaurant feel with a small bar enclosure. My designated driver and I collectively drank pints of all they had to offer that night ... none exceeded the "average" threshold, few even pushed it. Overa ll, this place was nothing to rave about, although the food and service were OK, but if ever visiting OKC again, I don't think I'd be compelled to return.

I visit Belle Isle often as this is one of the only local places in Oklahoma City that you can enjoy good, fresh, local beer. You will see most of the same staff who will remember you and your favorites of the menu and taps. Monday evenings are the best time to go with $1.75 pints, $5.50 brick-oven pizzas (I like the veggie alfredo the best) and Monday Night Football. The beers are very decent with minor fluctuation on quality depending on the batch. The seasonals are usually the best bet. They have a killer APA. Recently for a local rowing festival there was a beer fest set up for the local breweries. They brewed a chipotle ale that was incredible. I suggest this place for anyone who comes into town looking for a comfortable atmosphere, good food and tasty beer.

I came here because the place I wanted to drink (Tapwerks) was closed. To my surprise, it was a very enjoyable experience. I ate dinner here. The food selection was good and varied from pizza to steaks.
The bartender here was very courteous and told me of some other places I should check while I was in town.
The beer selection was sparse. I wanted an IPA or APA; however, they only have them for a short period of time. I ended up having a Brown Ale and an Amber Ale; both decent, but not great.
Not a very enjoyable atmosphere, but it gets the job done. Overall decent experience.

Belle Isle brewery is on the north side of town in a botique shopping mall / office building, kind of hard to find. It's a two story establishment with a smoky, noisy sports bar upstairs and comfortable restruant downstairs. The beers are pretty average for micros with the rotating IPA and stout the best on the menu.
The food is good and served in large portions.
Mondays are buck seventy five pints all evening. Beer and food prices are very reasonable.
It's across town from where I live but I try to make it here every so often.

I tried an Oatmeal Stout before catching a movie last weekend. It reminded me of a Rogue Shakespeare Stout that was watered down just a little. It was really very enjoyable. They don't make this particular brew all the time from what the bartender told me. The bartender sounded like she knew a little bit about beer.
The place is very nice. I didn't look at the menu, but it appeared to be a really nice restaurant in addition to having beer brewed on location. They have an upstairs with pool tables and a band on the weekends, but I didn't check it out this time.
