S - Biscuit malt. Light hop aroma. Not much depth

T - Light biscuit malt. Little to no hop taste. Malt character is pretty light for an English Pale.

M - Light, not a ton of body.

O - It's ok, nothing great, but better than most of the big brews.

A- Golden with a one finger white head. Lots of carbonation bubbles. Some retention and a wisp of lacing.
S- Smell is clean with a bit of grain and a touch of sweetness and grass.
T- The taste is a bit sweet with caramel, butterscotch, and some mellow hops. Good flavors all around, although there is a bit too much diacytal type flavor.
M- Light body, smooth carb. Good mouthfeel.
O- It's an ok beer. Very drinkable. A bit too much diacytal and the aroma lacks punch. But otherwise not a bad beer.

Appearance - Golden straw/ochre colour with a very thin (almost non-existent) head. Slight bubbles are present with medium clarity.

Smell - Orange peel/citrus, floral notes, slight bitter aroma (perhaps from the hops).

Taste - Pine flavours and citrus is first detected. Not too bitter, despite the initial aromas. There's a freshness and pureness to the flavour, like water (but not watery tasting).

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with good carbonation (nice tickling of bubbles on tongue). Very smooth ale with pleasant aftertaste (no lingering bitterness).

Overall - Easy to drink pale ale from Yukon. Didn't initially know what to expect from this style, as the flavours and appearances can vary. The floral and citrus aromas really lure you in to this one. Not one of my favourite offerings from Yukon, but certainly worth a try.

Bottle shared by Steve, something to break up the slew of quads we faced in the QuadShowdown. Bottle describes this as an English Pale Ale.

Pours a pale golden orange, white head and some light lace and thin film of retention. Nose has some pale malts, some bread and grain notes, a bit of sweetness (maybe a hint of maple?). A bit of woodiness. Taste is grassy, with some grainy and bready notes. Faint citrus notes, a bit of orange. Light caramel. Mouthfeel is light, medium low carbonation. A servicable pale, but could be a bit nicer if fresher I'd gather.

First of all, let me just say that this is an English Pale Ale, not American. And for the style, I think this is a pretty darn good interpretation of the style.
A-Pours a clear copper color with a good 2 finger off white head that has very good retention and strong lacing.
S-The aroma is on the faint side, as most authentic EPA seem to be. Mainly faint sweet caramel and mild, yet somewhat bright earthy hops and mild fruity esthers. After a swirl of the glass, a bit a floral hops comes through as well. Quite nice.
T-The flavor is much like the aroma, with faintly sweet caramel in the front and a mild hop bitterness and floral/ earthy hop flavor, very mild along with some sweet summertime melon like fruits. I don't know how fresh this bottle is though. I'm sure on tap in Canada, the hops come through more and is better, but this is nice.
M-At first, the beer seems a bit watery, but after my palate got used to the beer, it was a very balanced medium body, slightly sweet at the beginning and slightly dry in the end, also slightly creamy in the middle. Very nice.
O-Overall, it's a solid interpretation of the style imo, and deserves a better overall score. I'm happy I have a friend who went to Canada and thought of me and brought me back some of this great beer. Thanks Bill!

Somewhat bland. Mild grain and caramel male and very mild bitterness present from hops. Overall, slightly better than typical macro.

Mouthfeel: 3
Average at best. Thin body with moderate carbonation.

Overall: 3
A better version of beer than the typical macro offering. But not something I'd seek out again. Not recommend, unless for your macro-drinking friends.

Very drinkable goes down smooth. Very light and clean in flavour. But with some caramel and yeast flavours, keeping you interested and going for another drink. Appearance is very nice with a golden hue and crystal clear. Aroma is sweet and with some fruity yeast characteristics.

Beer from the Klondike. I played "The Yukon Trail" a number of times in my elementary years, so a beer from that region of then world was nice to see on the menu at Fogg n' Suds. On to the beer:

This golden ale has a honey orange color to it, topped with a good thick head with some retention and lacing. There's a little bit of diacetyl in the nose, and a dab of honey. Not a very intense aroma. Tasting it, it's a sweeter beer, that's for sure. It tastes like Vienna was the prefered malt in this beer with the honey and graham cracker flavor. There's also some butterscotch to remind me that the yeast is working. It's light bodied, and pleasant enoguh to drink once you get used to this being a sweeter tasting beer.

Thanks to a friend from Whitehorse (the city, not the awful Taylor Swift song), I was able to fulfill a longtime dream of mine: trying a beer from the Yukon. Crazy, I know. I had just consumed an Indian Wells Mojave Gold and needed something to get that awful taste out of my mouth. Considering how terrible that was, I should have opened a Westy 12. But this beer, although average at best, did the trick.

Pours dark golden with a nicely formed white head and very good lacing.

Aroma is pale malt and grain, along with a little earthy hop bitterness.

Flavor is all right, nothing special. Pale malt and grain, a hint of wheat, and earthy and floral hops on the finish.

Very clean and crisp on the palate with medium-light body.

Drinkability is good. Nothing exciting overall, but not bad for a golden ale. Good to finally try a Yukon beer. Need to get up and visit that place eventually.

A- Pours a clear golden color with a very small head, no lace even when swirled around in the glass.

S- Biscuity/caramel malts mainly in the nose. Grassy hops are in the background as well as some mild fruit aromas of apple and pear.

T- The hops are hardly noticeable until the end. It does have a nice sweet malt quality of toffee and caramel. The finish is slightly dry.

M- Medium body, carbonation feels right.

D- This is a fairly clean beer like the brewery states. I enjoyed most of Yukon's other offerings better, but there's nothing off-putting here.

A clear golden like the name with a thumbs width of head that leaves a couple of rings where the foam existed for its short life

S biscuit with some toffee and some mild grass

T not far off the smell but a little sweeter, decent beer gets better as it warms

M medium bodied with just enough carbonation to keep it from feeling flat

D well rounded beer and well worth trying, went down pretty quick

one of the most underrated brewers in Canada IMO, I've had several from these guys and all good so far.

The head was soapy, off-white with low retention. Color was a deep golden-yellow with NE-quality clarity. Nose was slightly sweet. Mouthfeel was medium with a slight sweetness on the tongue. Finish lingered with a mild sweetness that provided a beautiful juxtaposition to the curry heat of the meal.

The beer is indeed golden, with a lovely tarnished copper hue and a lustrous, shiny complexion. It would have been only appropriate for Yukon Gold to be buried beneath the heaping mound of arctic white snow that appeared to fall from the pour... except it would seem southern Ontario is too warm a place, it all melted away quite quickly.

The brewery claims the beer to be "clean across the palate" - well, it is completely void in the nose. The glass could be right under my nose and without a set of eyes I'd probably fail to notice it. Going on aroma I'm guessing the intention was simply to brew a clean and agreeable beer and it's probable the aroma was intentionally left undistinguished.

That hunch is concluded by reading the brewery itself describe the beer as being designed to be a "non-ale". Whatever that is - I presume it's an ale intended to resemble a pale lager? - it is at least those things listed above, clean and agreeable. The maltiness is far from profound but delicate notes of sweet caramel and fresh-baked bread provide a good element of flavour.

It's a curious thing: the brewery claims to use malted wheat and Saaz hops but I can't for the life of me pick up even a suggestion of either. For one, the bitterness is on par with those of mass-market beers (which is to say essentially non-existent.) The texture is also featureless. The finish is lightly dry with a pleasant bready sweetness lingering for some time after. The beer is sure disappearing fast.

If the goal was to tap into the mainstream market and offer a clean and more flavourful alternative, then Yukon's 'Gold' earns its medal. There's good reason this is so popular with Yukoners. Unlike the territory, however, it certainly isn't any 'larger than life' and for those who prefer a little more character in their beer should check out some of this brewery's other, less conventional offerings.

This beer arrives in a standard American pint glass, appearing a clear ruddy gold colour, with a minimum amount of white head. The smell is almost non-existent, a faint sweet malt essence. The taste is grassy dry hops, which give way to a substantially sweet caramel malt body. The carbonation is moderate, and the finish contains more of the sweet malt. Overall, quite drinkable, a nice pint.

Bottle courtesy of BigBry - thanks for sending my my first beer from the Yukon! Dark gold body and a fairly tight white head that lasted quite well. Grainy smell, with the slightest hint of caramel. Dry grainy flavour, almost wheat-like - not much sweetness from the malts apart from the shadow of caramel that had turned up in the aroma. This beer seems to have more flavour traits in common with a mass-produced lager than with an APA. Very little hopping apparent and more back-loaded to accompany the dry finish. Mouthfeel is fairly light with standard carbonation for a beer of this type. Drinkability is actually pretty good, and the flavours seem to improve a little as the temperature rises. It would probably make a good lawnmower beer on a hot summer's day. I have higher hopes for the Yukon Red.

Dark brown appearance with thick, fluffy head. Light caramel smell with a hint of grass.

Taste has a strong, caramel flavor with a hint of malt and grain. Medium body and Moderately carbonated with a smooth, dry aftertaste.

Overall, a decently flavorful, seemingly thick, beer that goes down smooth. Worth a try.

With nice new packaging and a hopefully a better distro this is a gem of a session beer. Balanced, hoppy but english in profile this beer rewards the drinker who likes flavour with supreme drinkability. Along with Phillips Blue Truck and Lighthouse IPA this may be one of BC's best session ales.

Yukon Gold is a decent beer, but there are plenty of better APAs out there.

It pours a cloudy, dark gold into my pint glass. There's a slight hint of orange through the chill haze. A foamy white head to start, which diminished to little more than a ring as I went.

The smell is an understated saw-off between grassy hops and buscuity malts. There are tiny whiffs of fruity esters — pear, maybe?

The taste is a balancing act between the hops and a malty backbone, making this much more of a British-style brew. Subtle bitterness comes at the end and aids in a dry, crisp finish. The carbonation is a bit on the weak side.

I got this beer as part of Yukon Brewing's "Thirst Aid" 12-pack and definitely enjoyed trying their different brands. I'd probably go back to Arctic Red and Chilkoot Lager, but I could take or leave this one.

341ml Brown bottle- No bottled on or best before date found.

Poured into the pint glass with a brief cascade. Chill hazed, honey-amber in color with a finger of ivory colored fine foamy head. Patchy, but sticky lace.
Smell was big caramel malts, herbal tea notes, grassiness, and faint florals from the hops.
Taste had a firm malt base, a bit of astringency, finishes clean and dry with light hop bitterness.
Light to medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Well balanced.
I would say this one is sessionable, good drinkability.

One of the selections in the Yukon "Thirst Aid Kit" mixed 12 pack, came with a free logoed pint glass.
Pours a nice golden color, nice looking head to start, but then shrinks away, with minimal lacing. Smells of caramel and malt, but not really strong. There is some citrus hops, but not what you expect from an APA. Again the taste is malty and sweeter, rather than the hop presence expected. I got a bit of metallic aftertaste. Average mouthfeel, good carbonation. Nice tasting, smooth, easy to drink. Accept it for what it is - don't expect a lot of Pale Ale bitterness.
