Poured from a 30 cl bottle bought in Germany.

A - A crystal clear beer, very light in color. Light copper or orange, it almost seems pink-tinged when held up to light. Head is pure white and made of large, soap-like bubbles. It fades quickly, but has sticky lacing.

S - Aroma is not beer-like. A spice sticks out like a sore thumb (cardamom?) Malt and hops can't make it past that smell. Fruit is at low level, but there might be some strawberry. It smells more like an expensive French soap than beer.

T - Again, I can't find anything resembling a beer. It is a sweet, strawberry fruit juice with the same spice flavor to match the aroma. Malt is very much in the background and hops are non-existent. No alcohol flavor.

M - Prickly, almost harsh carbonation. No hops bitterness or alcohol burn. Body is light.

O - This is much closer to a wine cooler than a beer. I'm not sure it belongs on the RateBeer site, except maybe I can warn some beer lovers away before they waste their money.

A ruby red beer with a settling head.

Smell is very fruity, red fruit mainly, like lemonade syrop. Maybe some wheat in the smell?

Taste is sweet and reminds nowhere of beer. I has no bitterness and the malts are sparingly present. The fruit aroma is very present and although clearly artificial, it is not chemical or overly present. The alcohol is very well hidden, but that is not a plus in this case. The beer is like a breezer (bacardi), I know there is alcohol but it drinks like soda pop. Good job of Leffe to formulate a rose beer of which I could drink a couple, if I would ever have the plan to do so. (Probably never!).

Bottle of 300 ml at home. I didn't know it was a fruit beer when I got it.

Pours a light red coloured beer with a very froathy, reddish one finger head, with average retention more or less.

Smell is of sour cherries mostly.
Taste is very sweet and fruity of course. Again, a bit of sour cherries and some kind of berries. It doesn't taste as artificial as others.
On the body is thin and very carbonated.

A - A clear dark pink beer with a white/pink head. It looks a bit like lemonade.

S - It smells like lemonade too - raspberries.

T - A very sweet raspberry beer, for the rest isn't there anything left to go for.

M - A medium carbonatation that feels soft and not pricky in my mouth. No bitterness and/or alcohol to discover. Just before swallowings there is a craemy softness.

O - It is not a bad beer and it tastes well made. It is just not my style anymore.

We pour a brew a color somewhere between pink and gold. It holds a two finger head light rose in color. This is pillowy, and recedes at a rather slow pace leaving specs of lacing as it goes. There is near full transparency and no sediment is noted. Carbonation appears highly active. The aroma sings with tart fruit. There is sloppy adjuncty grain mixed in amongst the notes of cool, artificial cherry. It smells of a cheap lambic, but even more fake and fruity. The flavor profile follows very closely to the aroma. We begin with tangy cherry flavoring that sits closely next to pale grain and metallic pangs. This moves through to the middle which is characterized by salty, sweet candy-fruit and grain. The finish is strong with wet adjuncty malts that are all over the place. All along it remains sickeningly sweet. The aftertaste breathes of menthol, cherry cough-drop. The body is light to medium and the carbonation is beyond high. The mouth is left wet and a little puckered, with the faintest suggestions of froth throughout. The abv is easy and the beer drinks as easily as any fruity soda would.

Overall, what we enjoyed most about this brew were the cherry inclusions. The brew embodies a seemingly enjoyable lambic fruitiness at first, but quickly dives to an adjuncty, artificial finish that leaves little to be desired. It is actually quite hard to distinguish this as a “beer”, as it tastes so much like a flavored soda, with little distinction from a serious grain or any other defining flavors.

The beer pours a nice ruby red colour with a white head, which disappears fast. The scent is rather disappointing. It smells artificial, sweet and fruity. Taste; is this beer or lemonade? Horribly sweet, artificial red fruits and some traces of bitterness in the aftertaste. This is not beer, this is lemonade.

A: Color reddish

S: Alcohol soft berries

T: A little fat, alcohol, also watery fruits

M: A bit spicy

D: Pleasant and refreshing

---

A good fruit beer, not too sweet nor too sour, just perfect for a fruit beer. I like it. Probably the best of the Leffe-trademark.

Alcohol soft nose, which is characteristic of the range, but with a fragrance, style syrup Tesseire red fruit (pomegranate, raspberry, strawberry). Mouth quite watery and without much fat and flavor that does not spice of Leffe Blonde. Just a taste of red fruit syrup but that sounds a bit too artificial to be really valuable as fruit beer.

From the Belgium Leffe website: Last year, Leffe brought the tradition of seasonal beers back to life with the Leffe Christmas beer, and this spring enthusiasts are once again surprised with a fruity variant with a mix of red fruits, especially appreciated for the aperitif.

Leffe Ruby will be exclusively launched for hotels, restaurants and pubs where the abbey beer will be available as draught beer in about 500 pubs all over the country from beginning of April till the end of June.

Therefore, I was surprised to find a six-pack in a supermarket in Brussels, but I took the opportunity and bought it (although generally I don't really like fruit/cherry beers). Today it was a hot day in the Netherlands and therefore decided to give it a try....Poured into a Leffe glass. The beer pours a nice ruby red colour with a white head, which disappears fast.

The scent is rather disappointing. It smells artificial, sweet and fruity.

The taste is not very good, is this beer or lemonade??? Horribly sweet, artificial red fruits and some traces of bitterness in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel; Refreshing, but the beer is too high on carbonation, thin and watery...

I heard somewhere the Leffe ruby will be only available in Belgium and France, please, keep it this way! This beer is a disgrace for an abbey beer. Leffe, concentrate on what you are good at; making beautiful brown, blond and triple beers!!

A- Ruby clear body with a white fizzy head. Medium-to-high carbonation. Although the head dissipates pretty soon, you're still able to get some lacing.

S- Some malts, some yeast, and a distinct berry aroma. Not similar to a lambic smell at all.

T- Starts out like a sparkling, sweet rose wine or a cooler, with a strong berry flavour profile (strawberries, raspberries and/or cherries), then some maltiness and yeast start to come through. It does remind me of the regular Leffe blonde, but the actual "beer" flavour is very subtle, dwarfed by the fruitiness. The finish is not bitter nor very dry, with some lingering fruit sweetness.

M- Somewhat carbonated, but quite smooth overall. Not too watery, more light-to-medium bodied. The alcohol is virtually unsensible.

D- Very refreshing and easy to drink. Nothing spectacular, but great if you want something sweet and refreshing.

A- Large fizzy head, after i poured the brew into my glass i turned away to grab a piece of cheese, when i looked back the head was gone. Poor retention, lacy is patchy at best.

S- If you took a mediocre slightly malty brew and poured grenadine in it that is the best way to describe the smell

T- Mikes hard cranberry with a malt aftertaste

M- slightly carbonated medium body almost sticky

D- Easy to drink but with no feeling of happiness or gratification afterwords, i probably wouldn't choose this beer ever, maybe on a hot day i would drink it if it was offered to me.

Pours red ruby with large and foamy white head with good renention and patchy lacing. Lots of visible carbonation bubbles. Aroma is flavoured soda like sweetish wild berries, maybe some hints of malt.

Taste is similar, sweetish syrupy berries with more sweetish aftertaste. However, it is clean and not cloying. Mouthfeel is solid medium with average carbonation.

The beer is not very good, but at least it is not too sweet and quite refreshing.

Bought as a 6 pack in France combined with a 12 pack of Blonde. The bottles were .25l minis...thank God because this beer was not one that I wanted to last. Poured into a .3l german altbier glass.

A: Fizzy, pitiful head disappeared quickly leaving very little white clinging around the glass. Red and clear with small bubbles...really reminds me of cherry soda...

S: Sweet and lightly fruity smelling...again a cherry berry soda pop whiff...maybe weak fruit punch...

T: Think wild berry wine cooler. Cloying sweetness and corn sugar linger as the stuff goes down. No hops to balance any of this...just carbonation. Faint taste of some unidentifable berry. Not very pleasant or engaging. Nothing to wrap your tongue around.

M: Carbonated fizz. Slick and persistent on the tongue.

D: Could chug this like a cherry fizz, with less satisfaction. Might drink only on a hot day, with a wicked hankerin' for something sweet...not recommended. This beer is worse than the standard fare usually offered up by Leffe.
