Drank at home from a bottle with an Expiration 7 months away (12.01.2012):
Appearance: Huge white head, noticeable lacing. Yellow / gold color; not as cloudy as other hefeweiss beers, until I pour the last part with the yeast.
Smell: Slight banana smell with yeast and some notes of other fruits.
Taste: Yeast, banana and some other fruits (probably peach) together with mild spicy flavors and grains. Nicely balanced by a subtle hoppy character.
Mouthfeel: Medium body and rather low carbonation. Very smooth.
Drinkability: Smooth, refreshing, nothing wrong with anything. Easily drinkable. I like it.

500 ml bottle poured into a Horbrau weiss beer glass. Beer is yellow and hazy, almost making it brown, with a soft white head of tiny bubbles that leaves some lacing on the glass. Moderate to high carbonation, head has some retention to it.

Aroma is strong and banana-y, lots of bananas up in this guy.

Beer is wet, that's the best descriptor to it, not dry, wet. It is mildly sweet, nice fruit ester presence in the midpalate without any bubblegum esters or anything like that. The finish is wet and completely absent of any bitterness, a great hefe. I'd have it again.

Pours a murky yellow with great white head.

The smell is of mostly lemon with some slight bready malt.

The taste is on par with the smell and is heavy on the lemon and ever so slight herb taste from the yeast. No banana or strong clove.

Not a bad beer by any means but there are better hefe's out there.

Bought from Dierbergs in Ellisville, MO from the "Bomber" Fridge Section. Served from a 1pint, 9oz bottle and poured into a Pint Glass. Best By: Feb 11 2011.

Appearance- Pale Orange Color, Very Cloudy, and 4 fingers of head. Head made a circle and had absolutely no retention and left nothing on the glass.

Smell- The smell has a banana hint and an extreme amount of wheat. Something with it reminds me of a sour/tart beer. Not sure if this supposed to be right...

Taste- Very lemon citrusy. Has a great wheat taste and not sure what else to talk about... Loved in Germany, almost flat when made in the States.

Mouthfeel- Smooth, Light Bodied, and Weak Viscosity. A tart/heaviness continues after the swallow.

Drinkability- I have had better while in Munich. I'm sure this is because of the transaction from Germany to the US and how we process and brew the beer differently. Will recommend this Hefeweizen but not my favorite in the States...

poured into traditional German hefe glass
500 ml brown bottle

A: Deep hazy straw with hint of orange. Thick eggshell head, but thins rather quickly. Stringy lace down the glass. Very large bubbles noticed rising from bottom of glass.

S: Initial bubblegum and wheaty/pilsnery grain. Hint of banana, but grainy aspect dominates. Clean. Mildly herbal. Later passes reveal a more bready aroma and more yeast. Complex.

T: Wheaty grain, a little yeast, hint of sweetness, clean finish with a solid bitter (mildy astringent) aftertaste. Hint of citrus. Halfway down glass reveals some bready-doughiness and more citrus. The nose promised more.

M: Medium to medium-light. Carbonation appropriate for the style.

D: Easy to drink. Another "warm day on the patio beer"

Notes: A solid representation of the style that takes no risks, offends no one, but will not have anyone asking you "what was THAT" at the end of the party. Would like to compare this to its draft version next time I go to Las Vegas.

Pours orange lemon juice with a a cloudy appeal, invisible carbonations and a finger of white head...

Smells of a lemon garden with strong yeast notes and a

Yum, mouthful of bread and biscuit, a lovely mild fruity citrus as well, not as much as the nose held but truly a decent flavor

Mouth is wet and medium bodied, a light amount of carbonation tingles just right

Very drinkable, you could definitely slam an orange in here if you wanted, I enjoyed it plain and am happy with that choice, a mellow beer you could chill on for hours give to any new beer drinker or your favorite lady

taste is a major let down after such a great nose - very watery and bland

mouthfeel is light with tons of carbonation crisp clean

drinkability is not good - bland watery flavor mixed with $11 sixers - should have bought some SN Keller

Once again I am still new to the rating process.

Great German beer with a nice easy flavor. If you are looking for a easy going good summer beer, this is for you. It has a great taste, but not packed with tons of different flavors. Just a good old fashioned beer.

This traditionally cloudy golden ale features a prominent and heavy head of bubbles, but no lace to speak of.

Aroma is nice and spiced, anticipating a delicious experience typical of the classic German hefeweizens.

And, no doubt about it, this one's a winner. Flavor is heavy on the spices (coriander, clove) and banana, with more than a hint of lemony zest. Light-bodied and drinkable, this would be superlative as a refreshing Summer session.

From the bottle pours a cloudy, pale gold cold with a foamy, white head. Head falls slow leaving a decent ring of lace.

Aroma is of malted wheat as expected. Hints of clove, banana and yeast make it smell appealing.

Smooth, mild, pleasant wheat taste. Hints of clove is the taste as well with mild alcohol tones, odd since this is not a high alcohol beer.

Medium bodied in the mouthfeel and rather smooth.

Nice beer. Very easy to drink and very refreshing. Good stuff.

Pours a cloudy, straw color. Thick white foamy head dissipates to a thin layer rather quickly. No lacing.

Smells of bananas and orange peel. Some hints of bubblegum, yeast, and maybe a little biscuit.

Tastes of banana, some citrus, fruit and creamy. Some tart sour notes in the finish. Carbonation in the finish as well.

Mouthfeel has some creamyness up front, and some carbonation in the finish.

A good example of the style.

Poured on tap into 1L stein from the Hofbrahaus in Las Vegas I like this style hefeweizen to be on the thicker side, unfiltered, dense, and cloudy. This was definitely too clear, too thin, and overfiltered for this style. It actually had the typical aromas of banana, clove, and wheat and it also tasted like the forementioned, plus a slight vanilla and fruity note. The mouthfeel was too thin, and the aftertaste lacked. Easy to drink though.

12oz. bottle, chilled.

Pours a transluscent golden, foamy white head that leaves lacing. Has a high level of carbonation. I find it an attractive beer. Aroma is typical for a Hefeweizen, mostly yeast and banana, but still pleasant. Banana, light floral hop taste to it. Body is pretty light, like a lager. Drinkability is high, I think it would be a great pilsner replacement. I've been impressed with the Hofbrau Original, which led me to try this too, and it's equally good. I would love to try this on tap also.

Highly reccommended.

The beer pours a cloudy gold color with a thick frothy white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is decent. It has a dry pilsner and wheat malt scent along with a very mild hefe yeast aroma. It has the character of a Bohemian pilsner, but with a touch of banana and clove. The taste is decent as well. It has a bone dry pale and wheat malt flavor. The yeast character is more pronounced in the taste, but there is a slight metallic off-flavor. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a medium/full bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is an easy drinking hefe, but it's a little too tame for my liking.

Appearance: Yellow-orange, large fluffy head, and some good lacing.

Smell: Wheat, yeast, and subtle coriander.

Taste: Yeast, wheat, slight coriander, and some very faint banana.

Mouthfeel: Light and carbonated.

I had this at the Hofbrauhous in Munich Germany, it was delicious. My buddy, and I ate lunch and put down a couple steins, during Oktoberfest 2009.

I am a Wheat beer fan, so I loved the taste. It was quite strong, but incredibly smooth and easy to drink. It was probably served a bit below room temperature, but warmed before I could finish and still had a great taste to it. Felt like it had a hint of banana, orange, and some other fruits, but all around spectacular.

Again I am displeased by the green bottles of Hofbrau, but lets see how the beer is. Only one of the three so far has been good.

It pours a big foamy and thick head that fades at a medium pace, with big bubbles popping all around. The beer is a semi hazy golden orange wheat colored with a little yellow tinge.

The nose is like a typical Bavarian hefe, with plenty of wheat aromas, a nice banana and touch of clove, very light citrus and hint of hops. A light crisp lager aroma with hints of the same style fruit.

The taste is very crisp and refreshing, starts lighter than I want, but then the taste starts to come on strong as it goes. Again typical Bavarian hefe, with lots of wheat, some banana, a little creamy malt taste in this one too, some light grainy like tastes, a little citrus and light bitterness. Still has plenty of lager crispness and fruit flavors. A little orange peel bitterness comes through as it progresses, and the finish brings more earthy mineral like hops that one would typically find in an English bitter. Interesting addition. It has a fairly dry finish but leaves a sticky feel in the mouth lightly.0

The mouth is lighter bodied with decent carbonation, and slightly gritty.

The drinkability is pretty high, with the crisp and very refreshing lager flavors, dry finish, and lighter taste. It leaves a slight sticky feel, but it's tolerable.

I made sure to agitate the bottom of the bottle before pouring in order to suspend some of the yeast, since the beer was quite clear in the bottle. It poured a cloudy straw yellow with an inch of fine white foam, which promptly collapsed into a collar and thin skim of bubbles coating the surface of the beer. It did leave a bit of streaky lacing on the glass as it fell, but nothing to write home about. Nice aroma, lots of banana and a little lemon, cloves, a bit of bubblegum, some earthy and bready wheat. The flavours weren't as bold as the aroma and it ended up tasting a bit thin. Tastes were limited to fruity sweetness (lemon and banana), dry bready yeast, and faint cloves. The body was light, bordering on thin, but with a pleasant smoothness of texture that made it work. This really isn't a bad beer, I'm just not sold on the flavour profile. If the aromas were more closely duplicated in the taste, I'd like it a lot more.

In a tulip glass, this looks very nice indeed. Ice-cream float head, nice nose of banana and cloves. It has a slight apple-like tartness in the first sip. Very smooth finish. A quality brew, but it needs a little more flavor/aroma to be one of the best.

This is right up there with the best (Weihenstephaner) heffes's out there, but it misses on the finish. This is still one of the top knotch heffe out there, big golden pour with that perfect white head (poured into a Franziskaner heffe glass), smell is banana sweetness, taste was more bubbles than flavor like my Weffe. Great beer, but just a runner up to one of the best beers out there, not so bad, i'd take that.

Sublime. This is the sublime smell of beer as it can be. You smell this and you have died and gone to heaven.

Hopefully that will convince you to drink this beer. My current tasting is certainly not my first (which could have been when I was 12 or 13, 40 years ago). But in my years of wisdom, I think that one could live off nothing but this beer, and a few other nutrients now and again.

Great stuff.

Poured from a 500ml bottle into a HB Weizen glass.

Pours a vigorous hazy yellow orange color with carbonation rushing up from the base of the glass. 4 finger head with never ending retention leaves nice lacing against the glass. The aroma is muted with hints of orange peel, banana and a hint of lemon pepper seasonings. The flavor is light and refreshing. Nice carbonated tingly feel on the palate with loads of lemon zest on the finish. Overall it's a nice hefeweizen, but nothing to go screaming out the door for. Nice sticker price in 6 packs at 8 or 9 bucks but singles at 3$ isn't my cup of tea, even if it's a 500ml.
