On-tap served in a Hofbrau weizen glass at Beerosophy, Bangkok.
A:
Traditional pale cloudy yellow hue with thick frothy and silky white head with excellent retention, it just slowly fades to everlasting foamy layer covering atop and same time leaves plenty of refined lacing ring, patch and spot along the way down, splendid showcase.
S:
In the way what it should be; banana, bubblegum, spice, clove, wheat and light citrus, well mellow.
T:
Suggestion of bubblegum and fruity ester by a nuance of banana and zesty citrus, malt in the back drives all the things up. Clove comes in mind with a spicy, peppery touch while hop just lies underneath but well fit and suitable to the overall flavor structure by letting the others playing on the front row.
M:
Medium in body with very velvety and super smooth mouthfeel from the delicate wave of lively crisp carbonation. Finish is dry and refreshing.
O:
Very well balance and very well done, simple but delicious and easy to get along, all the elements both external (appearance) and internal (aroma, taste, feel) are harmoniously straight forth together. This beer deserves a big quaff.

A- Hazy pale golden. Heaad is a bit thin for a hefe, but the retention is quite good. Lacing is decent.
S- There is a fair bit of spice and banana. Bubblegum-like aromas also present.
T- There is a pretty big bubblegum punch here. Banana comes through quite strongly as well. A touch of spice in the finish.
M- Light body, medium to sharp carbonation.
O- A good weisse. Not my favorite as I like banana and spice flavors more than bubblegum, but still enjoyable.

Had this on tap at Kaizerhof in Yurakucho, Tokyo. Poured into a weisse glass. Say whatever you can about a good hefe and this fits. Beautiful elegant appearance, wonderful smells of wheat and grapefruit, taste matches its looks, it goes down smooth, and has no negative aftertaste or gas. Overall, this is a solid hefe that leans toward a grapefruit side. Grapefruit isn't my favorite, but if you're into that, you'd love it.

A - Orange pour, with a hearty white foam. Slight lacing.
S - Smells of citrus, and some spicyness if cloves.
T - Taste is crisp and refreshing. Very much a traditional German hefeweizen. Has a noticeable yeasty flavor.
M - Very well balanced. There is a nice contrast between the tartness of lemon and the earthy flavor of spice and fresh grain.
O - Been a while since I went back to this and was surprised at how good Hofbrau is at making a traditional German style. Always thought of them as too mass-produced. Don't overlook their offerings.

t: Very nice balance of refreshingly sweet banana notes with hints of bubblegum and earthy wheat malts,
m: Nicely big and chewy.

Drank on-tap at The Ginger Man, South Norwalk, CT
Served in a weizen glass
Cloudy, pale yellow ochre in appearance. The beer was topped by a near two-finger, bright white, sea foam crown. Good lasting strength on the head. Drips of lacing trickled down the glass.
The nose was remarkably crisp, dry and powdery initially. Yeasty with moderate spice and lemon notes, but not much else. I was a bit disappointed by its lack of complexity. As the beer sat, the nose changed considerably. Fruity bubblegum notes came out strong and the spiciness really intensified, as did the tart lemony notes.
Off the bat, the flavor profile seemed far more rounded than the nose. Sweet, bready malts and bubblegum notes were quite noticeable. Lots of crisp wheatiness and spices in the center. Clove seemed to be the dominant spice. Lemon peel appeared as well. Overall, the beer displayed a nice balance between sweet and tart. The finish was refreshingly crisp and semi-dry.
The liquid wad soft and pillowy with a fine, lively effervescence. Smooth and lush on the palate. As the beer sat, the carbonation died down substantially and the mouthfeel turned even creamier.
Hofbräu Münchner Weisse is a flavorful yet easy drinking hefeweizen that is perfect for sipping on a warm fall evening. This is definitely a solid all-around version of the style.

Served in a large krug at Ubersteins.
The 2011 Bachelor Party Extravaganza continues its German leg. This portion pours a cloudy amber-straw topped by a healthy white froth. The nose comprises the usual banana, clove, and wheat, along with a light tinge of orange and lemon zests. The taste brings in more of the same, along with a light biscuity note running through the background, along with a light grapefruit sidekick. The body is a hefty-ish light, with a light moderate carbonation and a refreshing finish. Overall, a very enjoyable hefe, one of the better representations around.

On tap into a .5l weizen glass
A - Bright yellow to very light amber hue, cloudy as per the style. Has a much smaller head than other hefeweizens
S - Nice soft banana and clove, very delicate, hint of of tart lemon
T - Sweet and sour citrus, light on the spice and yeast
M - Pretty good, decent carbonation
O - A nice bavarian hefeweizen, but there are better

I was with a German (Austrian to be exact) colleague and he recommended this beer. What a great choice! If you are looking for a perfect beer that really exemplifies the hefeweizen style, this is it! I'll need to find this at places closer to me for the future. He suggested even mixed this with banana juice or some other fruit juice for added flavor. I may have to try this as well.
Overall, don't miss this if you love this style.

Had this at the 'ol Hofbräuhaus Am Platzl in 6/11.
Arrived in a standard fluted weiss glass. The beer is cloudy eggshell color with the prerequisite 2” of foam on top.
I’d say this take on the style falls into the fruitier category. Big banana up-front, and on the back end. Hints of apple and pear, too. The spice notes aren’t too strong, but there is a little bit of a vanilla cream with some sips. Not much clove, but there is a hint of nutmeg.
No chalkiness at all in spite of quite a lot of suspended yeast. You can drink this all day, and on occasion I’ve been guilty of having several. I don’t think I’m alone in that, though.
Not the absolute best weissbier, but still a really good one. If you favor the fruit-focused weizens, this one is absolutely worth seeking out. I’ve heard the bottled version doesn’t really do this justice, but on tap it’s excellent.

On draught served in a 25 oz mug (~.75L), Hofbräu Hefe Weisse is a cloudy dull gold with a small white head leaving scattered, foamy lace.
Smell is very pithy, minerals, a bit of citrus really, even though there no lemon served thankfully, at this actually authentic German bar.
Taste is pretty spicy, again lots of mineral pith, the wheat brings some spice, not much in the way of the classic Bavarian esters of banana or clove. Not my favorite by any stretch as it's more wheaty then anything else, almost saison like, clean though.
Mouthfeel is dry and crisp side, medium light bodied.
Drinkability is average. It's certainly quenching, and while it has some weizen character, it's not bringing the Bavarian yeast notes I love in the style.

On-tap at Uberstein Chicago
A - The body was cloudy with a golden hue to it...two fingers worth of creamy, white head...it feel slowly and settled into a thin cap which fell to a solid ring around the glass...decent lacing left behind
S - Fresh, creamy banana dominates the aroma...the yeast can be detected along with some faint citrus notes
T - The flavors are that of a classic Hefewizen...the banana is taken down a notch by the yeast flavors present...but the banana is evident throughout the entire beer...the spices make an appearance in the middle of the beer but they are not overpowering at all...there's a lemon presence towards the end of the beer
M - Medium bodied...creamy and refreshing
O - As I said before, this is a classic Hefeweizen...great banana flavors and spot of refreshing...this was better than my previous experience "American" made Hofbrau

Tried this on-tap at the Hofbrau beer hall in Munich.
Hazy golden yellow colour with a large, foamy white head settling down to leave a thin cap on the pint.
Banana aroma dominating although this is a quite clean smelling hefeweizen. There is a sort of cloudy, fruity smell and some spice too along with some lemon.
Very much like the smell with the banana flavour being the most noticeable with the spice and lemon in the background. The banana taste is pretty good and there is also faint some herbal flavours.
This one is on the light side of medium bodied and is really smooth. The carbonation is low for the style but it's not off-putting.
I really enjoyed this one having sampled it in Hofbräu beer garden in Munich on a warm day which may have helped my rating slightly. The beer went down really well and is definitely one I look forward to trying again.

Great German beer with a nice easy flavor. If you are looking for a easy going good summer beer, this is for you. It has a great taste, but not packed with tons of different flavors. Just a good old fashioned beer.

Poured on tap into 1L stein from the Hofbrahaus in Las Vegas I like this style hefeweizen to be on the thicker side, unfiltered, dense, and cloudy. This was definitely too clear, too thin, and overfiltered for this style. It actually had the typical aromas of banana, clove, and wheat and it also tasted like the forementioned, plus a slight vanilla and fruity note. The mouthfeel was too thin, and the aftertaste lacked. Easy to drink though.

Pours a cloudy yellow to orange-ish color with a white head. In the aroma, dry clove and banana. In the taste, dry banana fruitiness and clove spice. A spice bite and medium bodied mouthfeel, with a semi dry clove like spice in the aftertaste. Nice flavor and nice dryness.

I had this at the Hofbrauhous in Munich Germany, it was delicious. My buddy, and I ate lunch and put down a couple steins, during Oktoberfest 2009.
I am a Wheat beer fan, so I loved the taste. It was quite strong, but incredibly smooth and easy to drink. It was probably served a bit below room temperature, but warmed before I could finish and still had a great taste to it. Felt like it had a hint of banana, orange, and some other fruits, but all around spectacular.

A- pours a pale golden color. Sort of hazy with 2 fingers of a white head that has excellent retention. Lots of bubbles rising to the top.
A- wheat and a slight hint of banannas and cloves.
T- nice touch of wheat with quite a bit of bananna shining through. Spices aren't as noticeable as other hefes I've had.
M- very light and refreshing.

A good German Hefe. A little lighter in taste than other Hefes I've had in Germany, but then I'm having this one in the states. There is not a lot of hop aroma, and the aroma is more subdued than most Hefes. It is a beautiful straw colored beer and is satisfying. It has a bite, more from the CO2 than anything else and a clover sweet taste. It's not the perfect example of the style, but it is a good refreshing beer.

Served in 20oz mug. Poured a hazy, cloudy yellow with over an inch of fluffy white head that had good retention and lacing.
The aroma was the expected banana, clove and yeast you expect from a good Hefe. Yup, you guessed it, the flavor profile was right where you'd expect it as well. Banana, clove and yeast upfront, with a pleasant wheat tang underneath.
The body was little thin for my taste, but was still solid and satisfying. Drinkability was excellent, you could pour these down the hatch all day. Overall, a wonderful beer that's worth your time.

A- Completely opaque and gold in color. Good head and nice lacing.

On-tap at the Chinesischer Turm in Munich. Served in a Hofbräu handled weizen glass.
A: Cloudy straw with a dense and pillow like white head. Retention is most excellent and nice lace of left behind.
S: Fairly standard Hefeweizen fare, but still quite good. Cloves, sourdough bread and lemon are there in equal measure. Over-ripe banana is in the background.
T: Dry and tart as it should be. A dry sourdough biscuit flavor is what struck me first. A moderate dose of clove spiciness and lemon tartness come along quickly. A subtle banana flavor adds extra interest. Finishes dry, with a lingering clove spiciness.
M: The body on this beer is very soft relative to many members of this style. It's a little grainy, but the soft tingling carbonation stands out the most.
D: Another nice hefe on a trip where I had many of them. A very easy drinking beer.

A very strong hef. It pours a golden yellow color. There was a good head on the beer. The smell was of clove. The taste was very good. It was for sure an above average hef. There is a complexity to the taste, it was a little lemon. The color wasn't the hazy unfiltered color however. This is a very solid and very good beer.

On-tap into branded glassware
Appearance- Nice hef cloudy body with a nice yellow hue. A moderate head with decent retention for the style.
Smell- Nice wheat smell up front with a hint of oranges and banana.
Taste- Like the nose but the orange flavors come through better and the other citrus flavors take a backseat. The wheat and yeast flavors are also toned down, so I could see this holding back some peoples' scores.
Mouthfeel- Light but still thick on the tongue with a little carbonation.
Drinkability- It was very easy drinking even for someone who doesn't necessarily enjoys most hefe.
