Bottle: Poured a hazy light dirty yellow color weizen with a large white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of banana bread with light cloves and some light bubblegum notes. Taste is also dominated by banana bread notes with some light cloves notes and subtle bubblegum ester. Body is full with great carbonation. Vey refreshing notes with great esters.

500ml Bottle from the Ottawa LCBO for $3

Appearance - Hazy yellow colour with a large size fizzy white coloured head. It's hard to make out the amount of carbonation showing and there is some fair lacing. The head lasted for around 4-5 minutes.

Smell - Breads/grains, clove/coriander, banana, metallic

Taste & Mouth - There is an above average amount of carbonation and I can taste breads/grains mixed with some lemon and some clove/coriander. There is also some banana and some floral notes. It ends with a bittersweet fruity aftertaste.

Overall - A solid hefe. The banana borders on tasting a little fake, like a banana candy, but it's still very good and quite refreshing. It has just right amount of fruit and spice balance.

500ml bottle, best before Feb 2014. So we're zehr gut, nein?

This beer pours a rather cloudy medium golden yellow hue, with two fingers of puffy, densely foamy, cushioned eggshell white head, which leaves a few instances of wavecrest lace around the glass as it lazily recedes.

It smells very much like banana bubblegum, with some semi-sweet clove, tame earthy yeast, wavering wheat grain, and a bit of buttery reduced caramel toffee. The taste is mildly edgy sweet wheat malt, banana chips, subtle dry yeast, soft indistinct spices, a hint of spent bubblegum, wee citrus notes, and a bit of warm caramel.

The bubbles are tame and faintly frothy, the body medium-light in weight, and generally quite smooth. It finishes on the sweet side, the wheat malt, fruity, and gentle spice keeping things well within reason.

A pleasant, fruit and malt-forward hefe, as the yeast and spice seem content in their background role, which lends itself to a balanced, harmonious beer. Tasty and very drinkable, as summer weekend evenings get into full swing.
