A= pours a hazy golden color that looks a lot like honey with a small head that has average bubble size as well as average retention and lacing.
S= small banana and clove notes with wheat dominating.
T= yeasty and wheaty. Not much as far as bannana and a touch of clove.
M= pretty average.
D= good. Not the best by any means but I could sip on a few. Don't expect to get blown away by this one. Very average and medeocre.

Poured into a pint glass.
A-Straw yellow beer with a glowing orangey hue in the center. Beautifully hazed with yeast. Fluffy head on top, perfect white; persisted decently, slowly down to a 1 cm head layer.
S-Slightly citrus, with a nice clovey tone and assertive, refreshing wheatiness.
T-Smooth, clovey-spicy with a hint of banana and a slight lemony essence lingering into the finish. Wheaty tang is certainly there, though not too aggressively.
M-Crisp and nearly puckering high carbonation, large-bubbled and cleansing on my palate. Medium-light body.
D-Perfect for a sunny summer day. Unfortunately, it's a bit gloomy out. But, it's a tasty brew and is quite smooth and enjoyable. Good for any weather patter, I suppose :)

Appearance: A typical cloudy pale yellow Hefe Weizen color. Nice head with good retention.
Smell - Wheaty and malty with some nice banana and bubble gum scents in the mix.
Taste - Tastes like it smells, wheaty and sweet with nice tropical fruit and bubble gum flavors. Adding a lemon slice to the beer gives it an extra citrus kick that really brings out the flavors.
Mouthfeel - creamy, not overly carbonated and smooth.
Drinkability - This is a very good interpretation of the Hefe Weizen style. It goes down very easily and is a nice summer refresher. Given that it is always available in Minnesota, it's one of my quick go-to beers in the summer if other choices are limited.
Serving suggestion: Standard pint glass with a lemon slice.

Cloudy orange yellow. Wispy, soapy foam that lasts pretty well. Nose is pretty disappointing and only shows light touches of character. Mainly banana notes with hints if corn and husk. As it opens up and warms, it becomes much more palatable. Fairly nice flavor profile, consisting of banana, clove and spice. A respectable, drinkable example.

Pours a cloudy yellow with a short lived white head. Just a little lacing is left on the glass. The beer has a clove aroma with a sweet maltiness. The flavor is the same with the clove flavor dominating. It has a decent flavor but nothing that will blow your socks off. It has a light body and maybe a little overcarbonated. Seems a little harsh on the tongue. A good local Hefe. Refreshing and low ABV makes this a good Summer beer. They go down extremely easy and in mass quantities so watch out.

A - Cloudy orange color. White head fades to a film. Small bits of lacing.
S - Sweet and light bubblegum yeasty smell and some earthy wheatiness. Also some mild hoppy bitterness.
T - Taste starts out with a light crispy bite, quickly into some earthy wheat & sweet yeast flavors. Some sweeter banana flavors come in briefly before a lightly bittersweet finish.
M - Light to medium consistency, with light carbonation.
D - Very easy drinking, nothing outstanding or terrible. I love hefes and this ones local so I'll be drinking it a lot this summer.

A strong, yellow color, severely hazy. There is a 1/4 inch thick white head on top. Smell is of heavy coriander and cloves, with hints of banana and a dab of hoppy floral stylings. The taste is more balanced, if not a little bit further on the bitter side. There is a most notable hops flavor, but even still, it is dulled out by a vanilla-like malt. There is a little bit of lemon tang in the finish. Overall, this is pretty crisp and extremely refreshing. It's by no means my favorite HW, but it's still of pretty decent caliber. I used this to introduce a friend to craft beer, he liked it a lot.

A- Pours a nice cloudiness with a 1 finger head that recedes into a very thin cap.
S- A great nose for a wheat. Very reminiscent of Weinstephaner. Nice banana, clove, light pepper, pear, and a touch of fresh apple.
T- The buck stops here. The taste here, although refreshing, is pretty light. I get some light clove, banana, and a very slight pepper, but it's pretty thin. The finish is mainly clove, slight banana, and eventually a touch more pepper.
M- Mouthfeel is low carb but works well for a weizen style.
D- This is a refreshing summer beer that is easily sessionable, especially @ 4%, but it just doesn't have a strong enough taste profile. Because of the great drinkability, I must boost it to a 4.

Pours a bright orange yellow color. white head vanished rather quickly.
Smells like bananas and apple sauce. Slighty wheaty clove aroma hiding behind the fruit.
Taste is banana brad up front (Banana and dough tastes) Spiciness and lemony tartness follow.
Body is nothing more than medium and carbonation is peppy.
There is a time for every beer. I just don't think there is a time i would want more than one of these. Not a bad brew just nothing special.

This was poured into weizen glass from the bottle with a swirl to rouse the yeast in the bottom of the bottle.
A - cloudy golden color with a thick head that settles somewhat quickly and is retained in a thin collar
S - banana and clove nose with wheaty malt behind it; enjoyable, but perhaps not as strong as a German version
T - smooth wheat malt flavor with banana and clove yeasty accents, slight hop finish
M - medium body with moderate carbonation
D - This is a decent version of a hefeweizen from an American brewery, perhaps one of the best. However, I'm still quite fond of the authentic German versions. It's worth a try and a very good beer, but if you like this a lot, you should also check out it's German cousins.

Pours a nice soapy (swirled the last inch of product and dumped into glass) golden orange with a bright white head that diminishes to a mere 1/8".
Nice sour citrus notes of lemon rind in the nose. Yeasty with a vanilla component.
Refreshing flavor of the lemon mixed with the yeasty backdrop. A little clove and white pepper (faint) but virtually no traditional bubblegum flavor.
Mouthfeel shines with ultra fine carbonation at a playful pace. On the lighter side of medium bodied with a nice clovey spice and citrus finish.
Drinkability is good. I can see myself drinking a couple or three in one sitting.
Overall a good utility Hefe for me. Better than most American Wheat Ales, but falls short of the high bar set by the Bavarians. A good wheat beer though, but nothing memorable.

a: straw yellow with usuall hefe cloudiness, about a half inch of head that does not dissapear fast and leaves a good amount of lacing
s: sweet bannana aroma, yeasty smell that all hefes have is very present and very nice
t: the bannana flavor that the aroma hinted at deffinatly comes out, theres a nice lemony tart flavor and the wheat flavor really compliments the other flavors well
m: medium bodied with above average carbonation
overall this is my favorite hefe, very enjoyable and very refreshing

Summit's Hefe-Weizen pours out a rocky white head over
a very pale and clear yellow brew (clear, at least until I swilled
the last quarter inch left in the bottle around and poured it in
the glass- it was properly cloudy then). The head collapsed pretty
quickly, and carbonation was moderate. The nose was the typical
wiezen malt, citrus, and yeast odor. The flavor was wheaty with
a bit of spicyness. Not bad at all. Not remarkable, but just a good,
workmanlike weizen.

A hazy yellow, but not quite as hazy as a hefe should be. Small white head fades quickly. Nose is yeast and oranges. Taste is citrus and clove, with some anise. A bit spicy. Mouthfeel is great, nice for the style. Drinkability is above average. Overall a good american hefe.

Pours a very hazy yellowish orangish with a moderate head that disappears into a few rings of lace than remain.
Smell is of bananas and orange peel. Taste is much the same as expected, not too bad for an american wheat. I think the best attribute is that it has perfect carbonation for the style. I would guess more barley than wheat in the malt than rest of the class, but not bad.
Drink this beer cold, taste and particulary smell diminish as it warms up, the last couple of sips were not very tasty.

Summit Hefe Weizen
12 oz bottle
Recent bottling, pondered 10/06
Medium pour in a tulip glass.
Poured a cloudy medium straw yellow with a small white fizzy quickly diminishing head.
Smelt of moderate bananas, cloves, tutti frutti bubble gum and raw dough.
Flavor was upfront moderate sweet bananas, floweriness and light raw bitter dough followed by a sweet uncooked banana bread yeastiness with an average light sweet finish. Mouthfeel was light to medium bodied, slightly creamy and caressing, softly carbonated and light astringency.
Overall, a good showcase of yeast in a hefe weizen, with only a poor showing in appearance due to low carbonation and disappointing head.

A- Straw-yellow with a strong head that drops down to a thin layer, eventually.
S- Sweet banana, spicy herbal notes, and wheat malts. Somewhat lemony.
T&M- Body is medium with medium carbonation. Bready texture of the wheat malts is backed with some lemon tartness and smooth banana and clove spiciness. Very crisp with a slightly dry, bitter finish. Very clean. I am one of those who looks at you funny when I hear bubblegum flavor and I don't taste it here either.
D- I have grown to love this version of Hefe above most other American versions out there. This pretty darn good and a perfect summer quencher.

Holy crap! This thing has the most uncontrollable head on any hefe I've ever tried! This moster head, once unleashed, rose up from the depths like a science project and tumbled over the sides of my half liter pint glass! This beast of a head is rocky and chunky, and it calms down to a quarter finger after several minutes and stays at that level. All of this insanity is suspended over a murky orange brew.
This sucker is redolent of dusty yeast, brown bananas, old fashioned bubblegum (the kind that comes individually wrapped in a twisted wrapper), and lots of doughy bread. There is a solid hop presence in addtion to a dank dusty smell (not a bad thing). The warmer it gets, the more I smell ripe bananas and bazooka joe....dang, that smells GOOD!
Tates doughy, yeasty, and fresh. This has a bit of that glazed donut flavor that I experience in most good hefe's. Banana bread is definitely there along with an extremely dry and dusty sensation that I believe is the yeast (maybe I'm wrong)? The finish is very dry and tart from the adequate amount of hops.
The more I sip the more I am reminded of banana skins. Yes, I have actually eaten the skin of a banana....I just wanted to see what it tasted like (I was a weird kid). Also, more spiced qualities come out as the temperature of the beer rises. This definitely gets better towards the end of the pint.
Mouthfeel is tingly with carbonation and this seems to mask the heavier "slick and slimy" qualities that be present in a hefe. IMO this is the best hefe that I've tried so far....it's quite deep and comlpex, but not overly yeasty and doughy like the more traditional Bavarian hefe's which are a little too sweet and slimy for my taste.
This is damn good stuff. This will be a summer sessioner for sure!

Not the best Hefe, but at under $7 a sixer, this is a heck of a beer. It matches a lot of the elements of a great german hefe profile, but not all of them. Looks great, cloudy golden beer with a white head and nice lacing. Smells of slightly sour wheat with yeast. A lovely german wheat and yeast flavor. If this beer only had a little mroe complexity, some more fruit, it'd be a great beer. If there's a cheap sixer near you try it. If not, stick to the good import stuff.

2-finger head, rapidly receding. Cloudy (of course), dark yellow in color. Smell was a bit citrusy, but also a little pungent (in a good way). Unfortunately, there was also a glassy, metallic smell of some kind that was somewhat off-putting. That oddity carried through slightly to the taste, but for the most part it was an enjoyable taste with hints of bannana & aged apples. Nice body. A little hoppier than I would have expected, but for me that's not a problem.

A - Nice golden yellow color, thin head that stays on top while drinking. Not cloudy at all.
S - Definitely banana clove with a little yeast.
T - Tastes more like a wheat than a hefeweizen. I prefer my hefes to have a little more banana.
M - Too much carbonation at first, settled down about half way through the glass.
D - I could throw these back all night. But I only have two...so I guess I'm out of luck.
Overall, a nice beer, not spectacular and not the best of Summit's lineup. I'd go with the extra pale first.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle. Left a two finger head that faded quickly to surface skim, left no lacing. Body was a cloudy orange yellow.
Smell - creamy wheat, biscuity and toasty malt, and some bananas. Hint of noble hops.
Taste - much like the nose. Creamy wheat, biscuity and toasty malt, hint of bananas. Grassy, herbal hop sourness.
Mouthfeel - creamy, slight hop oil slickness, low carbonation, halfway between full and thin.
Drinkability - this is good, but not great. It goes down well. It's also very sessionable.

12 oz bottle poured into a weissen glass
Apours bruised banana yellow with some hazy clouds that are frozen in the lquid, ¾ inch fizzy white head with some yellow tints in it, collapses down rather quickly, lacing is sparse
Sbanana, citrus, some floral notes, spicy, mildly sweet and very fragrant
Tbanana, wheat, an assortment of spices, a touch of vanilla, very good
Mlight and refreshing, but a little slippery, light/medium bodied, mild carbonation

This is the beer you bring with to the BBQ or the picnic...
Pours a hazy, crisp yellow in the glass. Great foam head on this beer. Light carbonation. Lacing traces my beer from start to finish.
Citrus aromas blast my nostrils into submission. Banana, orange and malt assault my senses. Finishes with that great wheat character.
Great summer beer and one I will return more frequently.
