Evil Genius is behind me so now I turn my attention to the Summit as the dreaded Bottle Backlog at Chez Woody continues to fall by the wayside. The name on this one is so picture perfect that unless I built it, my hat is tipped to the person who did so.
From the bottle: "Proudly Brewed in St. Paul, Minnesota"; "[undersigned] Mike Lundell [,] Brewer".
I Pop!ped the cap & gave it a moderate pour since it is the wee hours of the night & I am not fond of cleaning up messes. Once sufficiently decanted, I gave it an in-glass swirl to raise two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, light-tan head with decent retention. As I turned my attention to another pressing matter, it fell away to wisps, leaving Sticke lacing in its wake. Sorry, I could not resist. Color was Darke Browne to Very Darke Browne (SRM = > 27, < 34) with NE-quality clarity & garnet highlights. Nose was malty sweet, very bready, like fresh dough beginning to rise. Mouthfeel was medium. I have to cop to looking at the "Styles" section of this site, especially given some previous reviewers' mention of its hoppiness. This is actually in keeping with a Sticke Ale, which is described as "... a bit more malty and hoppy ..." than a standard Alt. The taste was mainly malty, with a bready nuttiness that was also accompanied by flavors of caramelized sugar and dried, dark fruits as well as a grassy hoppiness. Mmmm. Interestingly, finish was semi-dry, as though the longer fermentation time had really allowed the yeast to completely do its job and yet the ABV was fairly moderate. I also got a powdery cocoa-like taste on the extreme finish. My my.

Poured 12oz bottle into snifter. Brown amber with a 1 finger eggshell colored head and spotty lacing. Aroma of burnt toast, grassy hops, and a touch of caramel. Flavor is very prominent with toasted malt, burnt caramel, ans some grassy hops. There is a sweetness to it, a bit of toffee. Feel is medium, with prickly carbonation, and no stickiness. Decent brew and a style I am not familiar with.

I purchased this from Giant Beer Garden and Eatery in Linglestown PA, poured chilled in a stange from the bottle.
The color is dark medium bronze with thick beige head with fine bead and good retention with lace that sticks. The smell is mostly toasted grain with some mild dried fruit from the yeast and herbal hop odors with slight mineral accent. The feel is relatively full bodied with toast in texture and subtle fruity element with slight spiciness and biscuit like dry quality
The taste is very good with moderate malt that has a light toast with gentle fruity flavor with mineral element in the yeast flavor with subtle herbal hop flavor but mostly malt dominant with toasted grain and slight raisin-like taste from caramel malt. This is a very good alt style wise-it has a dry finish which is enjoyable a good sticke as it is bigger than average with a lager like quality in an ale I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys german style ale or lagers for that matter
