Small little convenience store on High Street, good selection. They have all the typical Ohio selections, a good singles section, which was nice, picked up a couple Head Hunters. About 6 taps for growler fills. Nice staff, I asked if any Three Floyds was in, they said no, but were nice about it.

Prices seemed reasonable, a little dingy on the inside and outside, but a great selection inside.

The outside of this place looked really sketchy. It honestly felt I was about to walk inside of the most ghetto shop in the worst part of a burned out town.
I fully expected the car to be on cinder blocks when we exited.

Surprisingly, the inside of the store was kept really clean which helped me feel a bit better.
Beer is to the right upon entering, and it has the vibe like the shop used to be half the size and they knocked down a wall to expand it.
This was the first of the 3 Columbus shops we hit up... And as it turns out, my least favorite.

The prices were higher than the other 2 places at which we stopped, and the selection was missing many beers that the other 2 had-- although this place did have several bottles of Old Raspy XIV.

When I asked about Rivertowne Lambic I was shown Lindemans Framboise. Ok, half credit for knowing the word Lambic...

Overall-- there are far better shops around than this, but if I lived locally I would swing in here once a month or so as it seems many limited beers may linger on shelves a bit longer.

I used this shop quite often at the beginning to middle of this past year, realizing I had a decent option close to campus and not far our of my way.

Walking in, it seems to just be a little hole in the wall carryout, and it isn't exactly inviting. When you turn the corner to the right though, things change and the beer selection is pretty impressive. I have found quite a few things here that I couldn't locate at other shops.

The service isn't great, they won't say anything to you unless you ask, but if you ask, they'll do everything they can to answer your question. I ran across a rare find because I asked about a similar brew, and even had the manager call the distributor because he wasn't sure about the timing of one release.

If you're around campus, definitely swing by. Don't be put off by the outward appearance, you may run across something you'll be glad you found.

Yes, this absolutely looks like your normal piece of garbage carryout on High St, or any main street. Upon entering, you can't help but gaze at the impressive beer can collection on display along the top of the wall. The layout has four main sections divided into two "rooms." The entrance is in the left room and most of the booze in the right. The left room has some high end features and the cash register in the front and the soft drinks in the rear. The right room has the beer packaged in coolers along the back wall, some expensive big bottles and special feature packages in the front next to a cooler full of single beers for a MYO 6-pack. The wine is in shelves SURROUNDED by the beer. The owner takes great pride in having a clean store and wonderful selection. He himself appears to appreciate good beer, but may not drink it himself. The best part is that he owns a regular convenience store across the street.

This has become my favorite bottle shop in Columbus recently. It basically just looks like a regular shitty convenience store from the outside, and even on the inside until you turn to the right. They have a lot of great beer. Lots of beer in coolers and lots of bombers on the shelves. The selection is really really good here and just as good as Weiland's. Service is fine, they stay out of your way, which is the way I like it.
I really love this place, though, for the singles selection though. They'll basically single out any beer for you. Great prices too.

Somehow I never really managed to get out to this place in all my years around Columbus. Man was I missing out.

Essentially a little convenience store, mostly alcohol forward. There were a few racks of wine, and possibly liquor, but I didn't really have a ton of time to explore the non-beer part of the store.

I came here because I needed to pick up some singles for a trade, and I had heard they are great about singles.

Almost every 12oz beer was sold in single form, and whatever is not can be broken into singles. The manager/owner was very quick to accommodate my request to break a sixer of Columbus Summerteeth into singles, and he in fact remarked that he was surprised it wasn't already available as singles.

There were tons of little gems sitting around, ranging from nice Ohio stuff, to harder to find seasonal releases, as well as some really interesting import offerings from Belgium and Germany. There were several Ohio breweries represented that I have not seen sold anywhere else in town.

There are some shelves, but I'd say that about 70% of all beer is in a cooler. The sheer size is smaller than Kenny Road, but the selection in the cooler makes this a better stopping point than Kenny Road imo.

Once I have some spare cash I want to stop back again to pick up some fun new ticks!

Was down in Columbus this weekend, so I made sure to write down a handful of places to visit and scope out some selections. I am really glad I decided to go here. This ended up being where a majority of my haul today came from.

As I walked in and looked to my right, I was pretty much overwhelmed by the selection that lay before me. On the inner wall, and the shelves nearest to the front window, are a wide variety of Bombers and 750's unchilled. On the inner wall there is also a nice little selection of pint glasses, and tulips (DFH, Sam Adams, Bells, Lagunitas, Founders, Lindemins) I got myself a founders glass for 2.99. There was Alesmith, some Jolly Pumpkin, Rochefort, a strong Unibroue selection, Lagunitas, Great Divide, Dark Horse, Left Hand, Weyerbacher, Stoudts, Dogfish Head, Columbus, some of the Bruery(I grabbed the last 3 french hens!) and some other belgians/german beers I havent even seen before. I even saw Mississippi Mud sitting on the shelves.

On the back wall is the micro coolers, in the first 3-4 doors is where all of the singles are located, pretty well representing the huge number of 4/6 packs that fill the rest of the fridge. You can also enter in the side door to find chilled bombers/750s(which is where i found the 3 french hens).

Overall a very awesome experience, the man at the counter didn't ask if I needed any help, but he did mark down the Nogne O beer I purchased, which surprised me. I will definitely be hitting this place up again when I am back down there.

Today was a free day for me so I decided to do some beer store hunting. This was my first stop of the day. From the outside, this place didnt look very nice. But on the inside, the beer was plenty and varied. They had just about everything within reason. Bruery, Buckeye, CBC, Alesmith, and a really nice selection of Belgians. I have no access to Alesmith in NC so I was excited to get a couple of bottles of those.

Prices were very reasoable. The Bruery beers were around $10 which is about $5 cheaper than NC. THe Alesmith beers were also around $10.

Service was nonexistent as the guy working the counter was on the phone the whole time jabbering away. A great selection saves this place.

This place is literally about 5 minutes away from me up Indianola Ave. yet today was my first time visiting, thanks to checking out the reviews here on BA. Really wish I would have known about this gem the past few years, as I will be moving from Columbus back to Cincinnati in August.

As far as beer selection goes, it is at the top of the list with regards to selection and service for me in Columbus. The owner, Kalpesh, was super friendly and helpful. Took me a while to browse through the selection, which included an extensive selection of local brews, Belgians, and some my other favorites such as Founders, Great Lakes, DFH, Alesmith, etc. You can make your own 6 pack and Kalpesh broke up a sixer of GL Lake Erie Monster so that I could add one too my grab bag. Also picked up an Alesmith IPA, Breckenridge Small Batch 471 DIPA, Two Brothers Resistance IPA, Weyerbacher Hop Infusion, Troegs HopBack, and a Southern Tier IPA. Best surprise was being able to snag a couple KBS's!

I look forward to frequenting this store in the future.

This is now one of my go to places, especially if I want to make my own 6- pack.

Pace-Hi is a nondescript mini-mart on N. High just south of North Broadway. It is basically split into two halves. The half with the counter has typical mini-mart stuff, Coolers of pop, snacks and this place has lots of wine accessories.

The second half is where all the beer and wine is. Like most places its more wine than beer, but the beer here is of good stock. 2 Full cooler doors of singles for mixing and matching. Plenty of Ohio stuff like Columbus Brewing and Thirsty Dog is represented in the first cooler. Lots of Bell's and Founder's and DFH are in the second cooler. They will break up packs of beer that are typically not sold as singles. DFH Burton Baton, HopSlam, Thirsty Dog Cerberus etc.

The rest of the coolers are all 6 and 4 packs, leaving one shelf for bombers and magnums divided by country.

There always is a great selection of Hoppin Frog.

The owner is a really helpful guy. He really appreciates the people who come to his shop often. Because of this I was able to purchase a pack of Nemesis and KBS from him which he keeps in the back room.

Pace-Hi is becoming my new favorite place in Columbus. I just started going in here after 5 years of living in Columbus. First thing I notice is it is really bright and clean in here, only downside to that is there are very big windows in the front of the store that let in a lot of light towards the beer section but its not like it is direct sunlight so I'm not too worried about it.

Great selection of beers, on par with any other store around, about 10 cooler doors absolutely packed with six and four packs and about 2 dedicated to bombers. Nice little selection of cold singles, last time I was in i noticed that they added an addition cooler door of singles, plus I'm pretty sure that they will break most things into singles if you ask. Which brings me to the service, most of the time when I am in here I'm not really looking for help but whenever I have a question about whether they have something they always do everything they can to help (recently scored some Nemesis that was not on the shelf).

Basically, Pace-Hi is my new go-to place especially when I'm in the area, along with Palmers and Kenny Road Market, but Pace-Hi has been top of the list for me recently.

first thing and one of the most important I find when coming into this place is not just a good selection, but a good selection of refrigerated beer. As far as selection of beer, they got most of the standards, missing a few Trappists beers, but, still, quite a few goodies in here, most notably Sinebrychoff porter they've also got a few belgiums and french beers you can't find in many other places. Also, have a selection of glassware that varies every few weeks. Manager is very enthusiastic and helpful. As far as I know, everything is priced reasonable. Biggest problem with this place is that they tend to have a few old beers on the shelves, so watch out for freshness dates, especially over by the singles. Other than that, a great place to buy beer in Columbus, and my go to place for beer buying in the area.

First thing to mention is their sign on the side of the build is jacked up. The middle of the sign has been removed. Parking sucks during the day but at night you can use one of the spots on high st. Not going to explain where everything is located because its a small ass store.

Quality- Im am going to assume quality we mean condition of bottles and freshness dates. I did not notice any cracked or scratched bottles and all labels were intact. I have recently been on a DFH kick so i base freshness checks on both their bottles and Great Lakes. Great lakes averaged a best drank by September 2009, not bad. DFH on the other hand was bottled on Febuary 2009, so far this is the oldest sold bottles of DFH i have seen in c bus. For comparison Anderson is showing April 2009.

Service-Sucked, One person i could tell minding the store. A small indian guy, the type that stares at you like your about to rob the place. No help their for purchase advice.

Selection- Bobmer selection was above average with bottles i have not seen anywhere else. I dont think i have seen Stoudts anywhere else so far, need to double check that. 4 and 6 pack selection was decent, i would say as good as Whole foods but not as good as andersons or Kennys market. I was happy to get a single of Racer 5. Also they has a little area with beer glasses for sale, all for 2.99, not bad.

Value- The price of the singles were above average by about 10-15c based on what i pay at whole foods or the wine vault. Bobmers were average and i didnt see any specials, i wish stores would do more specials.

I would come back every couple of months to check on their bobmer and glass selection but stay away from everything else. I really wish more stores would care about how old the beer is that they are selling.

Wow, what a difference new owners can make! I stopped in to this store last week, somewhat reluctantly. I've always found this place to be dark, hot, and dusty, with a borderline surly staff. Also, I had always assumed their beer was old. I could have been wrong, but it's impossible to look at a facility in such a state of neglect, and believe that their attitude toward their product was any different.

When I made an emergency quick stop last week, I was pleasantly surprised! Clean, new counter tops, tidy well-stocked shelves, and abundant NEW COOLERS.

I was picking up some pilsners for outdoor summer drinking, but as I reached for the Prima and Sunshine, I nearly changed my mind. Faced with so many choices, it was difficult for me to just grab my purchase and run. I will return when I have a time to peruse the selections.

I commented on the changes to the men at the counter. They said they purchased Pace High last August, along with the carry-out across the street. Apparently, they gave both a complete overhaul.

Although they did not seem terribly knowledgeable about beer, my friend stopped in shortly afterward and talked to, who he assumed to be, their beer expert. My friend is only just getting into craft beer and he was very happy with the level of assistance he received.

I'm thrilled to know there is another convenient location to buy cold craft beer in this area of town. I'll add it to my regular rotation, along with Palmer's and Weiland's.

If you've been here in the past, and recall what a hole it used to be, I highly recommend you give it another shot. Allow them the opportunity to win you over.

This is my go to place in Columbus if I am going to find a mix six pack. They have about 15 cases full of different types of beer from around the area and the west coast. The mix six pack choices are always changing and they are more than willing to break something up for you if it isn't already available. The prices on the mixes are a little high, but what do you expect. The bomber selection isn't the best, but for six packs, this is probably the place to go. Also, the owner has been more than helpful about holding beers for me on limited releases.

I had abandoned this place several months ago as a complete waste of time - bare shelves and disinterested staff. But, after hearing about the new ownership, I stopped by. Wow. What a change.

Picked up four sixpacks of my favs, but they have a solid selection: Stone, Victory, Founders, Bells, Great Lakes, Avery, North Coast, a handful of Belgian and German imports and more. I also picked up my wife's all-time favorite: St. Bernie Abbot 12 in the four pack. Now I'm a hero.

The place is clean and well organized. Make your own sixers (had a hopslam that way, before dropping the $16 for six).

The owner was eager to help and promised to try to get anything I wanted. Besides that, I just liked the guy from the get-go.

It's going to be a regular stop for me.

I should start out by saying that this is a store I've frequented many times over the years and it has seen good and bad days (mostly bad days). Factors that come in to play are management, lack of air conditioning, old beers always in stock, empty shelves that once held many brews, the list keeps going and going. I was told that this place has once again opened under new management so I thought I'd check it out to see if anything has changed.

Looks like the interior has been redone and it does look alot nicer than before. After walking in the door off High St. you will need to hang a right to get to the beer area. The first shelf in this area has several larger size bottles and some imports at room temperature. There is a sign posted that reads these selections are also kept cold in the back of the cooler. I noticed brews from Unibroue, Tucher, Baltika, d'Achouffe, Huyghe, and St. Bernardus. Once past this shelf there are several coolers of singles that are available for make-your-own six packs. Selection in the singles section is nice. After these coolers there are 10-15 coolers of cold sixers with craft brews and macros selections. Some of the breweries represented are Great Lakes, New Holland, Founders, Avery, Rogue, Green Flash, Southern Tier, Bells, Lakefront, and Brooklyn. Nice to see most of the beer in the store is kept cold.

Overall, this is the best shape that I have seen this store in. There is a wide selection of brews that are priced on par with other establishments in the area. I think it is still fairly new this time around so quality is going to be good. Time will tell if this is going to last but, for now, this is a nice place to stop if you need to pick up some good beer.

Stopped in the other day to pick up some good beer before I went back to school. I must say that I was incredibly disappointed by what has happened to the shop in the last few months.

Over the summer there was a great selection of Bell's, Unibroque, Stone, Dogfish Head, etc. To my dismay when I went recently the store had gone from the having coolers and shelves stocked full to barely having anything at all. The shelves were so empty that I asked the cashier if they were going out of business. He responded this was the way that the owners were keeping the store from now on. He was also rather rude when talking to me about this, but it may have been that he was upset that the store was in the state that it was in.

A neat feature about this store is that they allow you to buy singles from any of the sixers that they have, but with the current selection this feature is not very useful.

Bottom line-this was once a pretty good store to find a wide range of micros, but with the bare shelves it's just not worth the trip.

Stopped in the other day on a break from classes at The Ohio State University. If you blink while driving down the road, you might miss this place. There is parking in between the AAMCO and the beer shop.

The building is old school with no A/c. I found this a little concerning when I walked into the muggy room. Not really sure the temperature, but I can guarantee it was over 70 degrees. Saw a few shelves of beer when you walk in on your right hand side. Had a few Three Floyds, Magic Hat, St. Bernardus, good finds, but again the temperature was concerning.

I saw a lot of empty shelves. I'm not sure if this is due to the make your own 6pack or if they are not getting as many shipments as before. I was greeted with a hello, but I didn't see where it was coming from. I assume the owner(?) was working in the back, and didn't really bother to come out.

There are better places in Columbus to get good beer.

Stopped in here last summer, and the place was full of empty shelves, so it's been nice to see the store back up to full capacity lately. Not too many parking spaces, but there always seems to be at least one free on High St. in front of the store. The wine is in the left half, with the other devoted to the beers. They are (very) loosely organized, with Americans, Germans, Belgians, etc. tending to be grouped together, but not in strict sections. There are some coolers (one of which was broken last time I stopped in), but most are on wine racks or stacked on the floor.

They have a pretty wide selection that is comparable to the better stores in Columbus, with a few imports I don't think I've seen elsewhere, including a few French ones. All of the bottles are conveniently labeled with a date, presumably when they arrived. The store's main advantage however, as others have noted, is that they will sell singles of anything you want.

My only complaint is that it is really hot in the store in the summer, since there's no AC (it was probably around 95 F the last few times I was in). I don't know much about storing beer long-term, but that can't be good, especially since a lot of the beer has been there since last year according to the price tags. This makes me more than a little hesitant to buy some stuff that I would otherwise pick up.

This was my second time stopping by this place. Last time I meant to review it but forgot all about it.

Parking in this area is pretty slim, but me and my girlfriend just parked in the little area to the right of the shop where it says "Warning: No Parking, Violators will be towed" I'm a hard-ass I guess?

Walking by the window on the sidewalk I saw mass cases and 6-packs of beer scattered throughout the store in sort of a Produce-Market kind of fashion. Wine crates holding corked 750's are all over the place. Offerings from every major brewery and some of the smaller, local ones.

The guy didn't ask if I needed any help but was friendly when I asked if they would be getting any Double Simcoe in. Prices are very reasonable. I picked up a bottle of Lindemans Cuvee Renee Gueuze for 9 bucks and a mixed 6-pack of IPA's that I hadn't tried.

That's the best thing about Pace-Hi is the ability to take singles of anything. Makes it kind of like a little scavenger hunt, checking out all of the six-packs strewn about and finding what you want.

Definitely going back here next time i'm in town.

Dropped by a week ago--first time I'd been there in a while. Glad to see that not much has changed: building's still nothing special, a wide variety of beer (from familiar to never-saw-it-before) is available, and the laid-back owner is helpful when you want help (and also remembers his customers).

I first ran across this shop about fifteen years ago. Back then it was THE place in Columbus to find a good variety of beer. It may have lost that distinction but it's still a special place--and although I live nearly 100 miles away I try to stop in when I'm in the north part of Columbus.

As others have mentioned, it's probably the best place around for making your own samplers, since they'll sell singles of anything!

Went zooming by and almost didn't see it, let alone remember it was one of the places I wanted to check out. It took two tries at looping around twisty little streets that all looked alike before I came back far enough. Damn this foolish no U-turn law!

It was worth the effort. I stepped into a rustic, barnlike store framed by rough-hewn beams. Never mind the wine in the left half. Pass through to the right hand and find a roomful of beer. As you twine through it, you keep finding more nooks and corners and more beers. Some very interesting Belgians (and B-style) prominently displayed, like Hitachino Nest and Black Ghost.

Nice guy at the counter, who was glad to help, though not exactly the most voluble.

The best part is you can get singles of *anything*. Joy for the beer-hunter!

The last time I hit this shop a couple years or so ago, the shelves were practically empty and it looked like they were going out of business. Wow, things have changed! Large selection of domestic and imports. Micros and macros present. A good portion of which is kept in the large number of coolers. Ability to buy singles of anything in the store really boosts the selection and certainly entices me to buy more beer here. Saw a couple things I haven't seen anywhere else in Columbus including Tupper's Hop Pocket Pils. Stock seemed to be reasonably fresh. Service was courteous. I didn't ask for any assistance, but the gentleman seemed interested in having my repeat business so I'm guessing he likely has an owner's stake in the shop. An old building that doesn't look like much inside or outside, but certainly holds a good stash of quality beer. Definitely a place to check out in Columbus.

Found this place with my buddy Shane practically on accident. The night before, we had gone to Andy's which is nice also, but at Pace-Hi I felt like a kid in a candy store! Watch out though, you'll miss it if you don't keep an eye out for this little shop!

This store is split up into, basically, two sides. Lots of beer in and out of coolers, with a pretty nice range of brews from around the country (and world for that matter). I was impressed to see Bert Grants (have never seen it in Columbus), plus of course, a wide selection of Bell's. I was impressed that one could mix and match from any 6-pack in the store, instead of having to build a 6-pack from a limited selection of "set aside" beers.

The staff was EXTREMELY friendly, laid back, and very knowledgeable too. I found out that they plan on installing a little bar within the store, which would be neat. In addition, they were quick to point out that they would special order most anything we wanted, and they wanted to hear our suggestions, etc. Pretty cool if you ask me. My buddy and I ended up building a nice little 6-pack of Dogfish head 90 minute IPA, Bert Grant's Perfect Porter, and Bell Cream Stout. Plus, we bought a 1.5 Liter special edition bottle of Anchor Christmas Ale...in mid-March! Every other place we went was sold out long ago. We were even told "good luck, you won't find any in this town" by someone over at Andy's!

All in all, a very impressive little store! All I can say is when I move back to Columbus this summer, this place will be recieving a lot of my business!

Sadly, this place has gone downhill over the courseof this year. I've had plenty of conversations with those working behind the counter, and the consensus seems to be that "nobody knows what's going on". Literally- only maybe 1/6 of the stock they used to have. Very disappointing

Located on High Street north of OSU campus, parking is limited to street or a parking lot across the street that belongs to a strip mall. I am not sure what the story is behind this store, but its current incarnation is a worthwhile stop for beer lovers. It is only a couple miles down High from Andy's, which makes for a good one-two punch.

The store appears to devote the majority of their space to beer, and wine/convenience store goods to a lesser extent. The beer can be located on shelves and in coolers, and there is a healthy selection of singles and "make your own 6/12 packs" available too. The beers are varied, with regionals like BBC, Thirsty Dog, GLBC and Bell's represented. Other micros like Anchor, Arcadia, Stone, Rockies Brewing are available too. Pace-High also has one of the better selections of Belgian bombers I have seen too - many I have never seen elsewhere. Finally, there are a fair number of imports from odd countries like Guatemala and Venezuela too.

The service here is friendly and efficient. All in all this place is well worth a stop if you are in the area.

Cheer up, Wildman, it's back. I reported this closed several months back because I went there only to find a shell of a building. What I didn't know, and what was not shown by any sign in the window, was that they were closed for general renovation, cleaning and restocking. Though it is not any palace of beer, it is certainly a great supply source once again. I scored 3 liter bottles of Double Bastard, picked out a couple of sixers of good singles, and could have easily spent much more time selecting good brews.

Friendly owner who is very helpful. Great selection with more on the way. Lots of cooler space and singles choices. Rear parking lot and open 7 days a week from 9 to around 10 at night. Highly recommended unless your primary choices are exotic Belgian beers, of which I saw few. At least you won't trip over 12 packs of macro brew here.
