Pours a malty amber caramel with a burgundy tinge & some lasting foam.
Right off the bat the aroma is hoppy & malty sweet, some mildly dank hops on the aroma compete with a touch of grapefruit.
Flavor is herbal, with some dank medicinal notes, & a piney finish atop a sticky sweet malt that’s balanced by a bracingly bitter b-something of flavor. One to sip & savor, though I could have easily quaffed this too.

Chilled 12 oz. bottle into a shaker pint. Best-by date 12.11.13 - Seems ambitious considering that I've had this in my fridge for at least a month or two.
Look- A vigorous pour leaves me with half a finger of dense off-white head; tons of visible particulate suspended in the beer; here's to hoping it's unfiltered hop pellets. Cloudy deep amber. Sparse lacing.
Smell- Ripe melon, lemon, papaya, borderline abrasive pine-y aroma. Overall impression of starburst candies and green tea. Develops more cracker-y characteristics as it warms.
Taste- Massively dry-hopped, bitterness milder than expected; I'd guess 65-70 IBU. Green tea, tangerine rind, honey, light treacle, starfruit. Distinct English-y stone fruit ester character, low butteriness. Middle brings out a semi-sweet roasty flavor more along the lines of roasted espresso liqueur-soaked ladyfingers than plain toffee. Bread pudding, perhaps. Compliments the mild-moderate bitterness and mild fruit character very nicely. Resin, white raising, light mineral character on the back end. Nice balance, complexity, overall flavor.
Mouthfeel- Medium body, medium carbonation. Juicy, full feel. Light stickiness, slick, fairly clean finish. Easy drinking, found myself quaffing rather than sipping.
Overall- Very nice, if pricey. It's good to see Real Ale continue to experiment. Not going to blow most hop-heads away, but definitely worth picking up if you can get it and I'll probably be snagging another four-pack. Recommended.

Pours a clear, deep brown amber color with a thin medium caramel colored head. Aromas of pull candy and lemon grass. There are Christmas pull candy and sorghum flavors with hints of overripe fruit emerging. The mouthfeel is unassuming, yet appealing. Not bad, but not great.

This is probably my favorite Real Ale I've had. Definitely hope this beer makes it into their year round lineup.
Appearance: Beautiful red body, classic Imperial Red IPA look. Beautiful white head. Very frothy. Lots of yeast particles floating in the beer but that doesn't bother me at all. The look of this beer is very similar to Great Divide's Hercules, except more red.
Smell: lots of red apple and caramel. Very sweet and pleasant smelling beer. Also very strong smell.
Mouthfeel: very drinkable and crisp but still maintains a frothy carbonation that is absolutely wonderful.
Taste: very sweet upfront. Lots of caramel sweetness and red apple "crispness" then it smooths out towards the finish and leave you with a very balanced and crisp hop taste. Not a palate ruiner but gives you enough of a punch to notice.
Overall: If you can find this beer, then grab a four pack or two. You won't regret it. I'm thinking about buying two more four packs and aging one of them.

There is either a ton of yeast or hop particles hanging out in this orangey/amber body. Slightly off-white head that laces well.
Yummy caramel sweetness and a piney citrus hop aroma.
Bitter citrus and resinous pine. Some hefty malt to keep those hops in check. Great balance as far as I’m concerned.
Drinks smooth. Has a medium body and is dry.
There is something a little off about the beer but it is a good hoppy red ale worthy of a try.

Nice looking brew. Red and clear with a good lasting head and pretty good lacing too.
The nose is super hops with a side of hops. Lots of pine, citrus, lemon peel. Faint biscuit malt and caramel.
Flavor is nice, lots of hops come forth right away. Citrus, lemon peel, grapefruit peel, pine, along with a more pronounced and somewhat balancing malt character.
Body is a bit slick, pretty full, and finishes bitter from the hops.
I like this one, it's damn tasty. Another success from Real Ale.

Interesting that this classified as an Imperial IPA - it's clearly malt dominated. 12 oz bottle pours a deep amber with good head and lacing. Caramel toffee aroma with faint display of citrus hops. Taste is dominated by the caramel malts, hops are there but providing bitterness without much flavor. Seems a bit thin somehow for a malt dominated 8.8% beer. This beer seems flat and limp with a metallic yucky aftertaste. After I've read the other reviews perhaps the hop aspect of this beer was very shortlived. Not horrible, but certainly something I would not seek out again.
