Poured a hazy, dark brown color from a 12 oz bottle, with the ABV (6%) on the label. Not sure if this is meant to be an unfiltered ale, but there is surely some sediment coming thru from the bottle.
Massive, and I mean, massive head that dissipates ever so slowly to a thin persistent head, leaving very nice lacing along the insides of the glass. Very good carbonation.
Earthy, floral aroma with hints of fruity, cirtus/lemon notes.
Hop dominant taste interlaced with biscuity, malty notes. The finish is dry and hoppy, reminiscent of a traditional english IPA.
Nice rich, creamy mouthfeel leaves the palate coated evenly.
A delicious offering from Arcadia Brewing, and is definitely worth a try.

I have to say that I don't know if this has been tweaked, but it's now listed as 6% ABV and seems by memory to be slightly different than a fresh bottle I had of the exact same stuff a couple years ago.
This is a clear, amber-orange colored IPA. A fluffy white head sits on top and, while it doesn't last all that long, never fully dissipates and leaves a thick, sturdy foam that drops some thick lacing down the glass.
The aroma pours out as soon as I open the bottle. This one's pungent, with a nice strength and balance of floral, citrus and resiny hops behind a strong caramel malt. I assume malts are stronger in this one to balance it, as it's in the higher ABV bracket for the style. Anyway, this smells like all kinds of fresh, raw hops as well as tasty malts adding caramel and toffee notes.
The taste is similar with the exception that less of the citrus pulls through, though it does make for a more floral, earthy, raw flavor, and somewhere in the middle a buttery diacetlyic flavor comes through lightly; while it doesn't particularly detract and adds to the toffee aspect, it's not heavy and just sneaks through. The finish is semi-dry.
The body is medium, a little fuller than I remember it being, and goes quite smooth. The malts pull this one through for easy drinking and add some body to it, with a moderate carbonation giving it activity without going overboard.
There's very little that detracts from this brew's drinkability. Either this is underrated or all the reviews are old and it's been tweaked.

This brew came in Arcadia's mixed 12 pack, I have had this beer many times but have never reviewed it, so lets give it a go. Poured from a 12oz brown bottle into an imperial pint glass.
A- This beer poured a hazy golden orange color with two fingers worth of fluffy white head that dissipated to a thin ring that stayed.
S- A mix of piney and citrus hops dominate the aroma of this brew, there is a slight presence of caramel malts at the end.
T- Pretty similar to the aroma with the piney and citrus hops leading the way and nice malty back bone. This brew isn't that bitter I have had pale ales that were bitterer then this.
M- Medium bodied with perfect carbonation.
D- This IPA isn't as bold and bitter as most in its style so it makes it rather drinkable but it just isn't interesting enough to warrant drinking more then two.
Overall this was a Mediocre IPA, the flavors were they were just a lot more weaker then they should be. A good choice for someone getting into the style, but it's just no my cup of tea.

Pours into an orange body with a thin white head with some good retention, decent lacing and little carbonation. It has an orange-citrus smell with a hint of pine and some floral hops. The taste is an orange taste with some grapefruit, grape, pine, a little floral hops and a slight hint of malts. This IPA doesn't seem to leave a strong after taste and is a smooth, crisp and very drinkable beer and is by far the best of the three IPA's I had tonight from three different Michigan breweries. The only thing is that the other two are American IPA, while this is an English IPA.

Poured a cloudy orange w/ a good one-finger head that died slow on top of a real citric lemony aroma along with orange peel and some sweet malt. A mellow hopbite but the citric and spicy notes are perfectly noticeable and there's a hint of grape in the flavor as well. Real smooth, light-bodied, a hint of sweetness as it passes over and then a nice, crisp dry finish. A simple yet thoroughly enjoyable IPA.

A- pours a hazy golden color with a frothy white head. medium lacing.
S- smells like some fruity yeast. maybe alil raisony. i thought this was an ipa??
T- just how it smells. it does have some weird plastic-like taste to it. once again where are the hops?
M- light bodied. alil over carbonated if you ask me.
D- last 6 pack i'll ever buy.
Overall- this brew and company blows. the only thing i ever tasted that was worth anything from arcadia was their scotch ale. i'm gonna give the last 4 out of the 6 to my cousin cuz i would rather have my huma's. i really had hopes for this company. i heard within the year or so they got a new headbrewer. i thought of that and their new labels might have been better but still the same... THEY SAY ENGLISH BUT THEY MEAN CRAP!

pours amber orange with a 1+ finger pillowy head that left lacing all over the glass
smell - pale english bready malts with spicy earthy hops
taste is has more carmel malt then the pale sour english malts - and the hops have a little citrus to them along with the just standard grassy epa hops
mouthfeel - medium body with low carbonation almost flat
drinkability - takes a hit over the the mouthfeel - while the taste is good i do not want to drink a flat beer of this style

Unimpressed by Arcadia IPA. There are some very obvious defects in this beer, I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like this. First and foremost, in the aroma, I smell that plastic-y, band-aid, chlorinated smell that I usually correlate with contamination or a hot fermentation. Also, the fact that it's overcarbonated means that it could be an infection. There is bitterness, but this is not a good tasting beer with characteristics that I like. If it's not contaminated, then this is a poorly made beer and either way, I recommend against buying and or drinking this beer.

Notes from 10/27/10
A:Pours a amber/orangish color with a fingers worth of head that falls fairly quickly,
excellent lacing is left down the glass
S:A nice mix of citrus and pine hops aroma hits the nose with a hint of some caramelized
malts in there as well.
T:Initially there is some citrus hops up front followed in the middle with a balance
out from the malt backbone. The backend is then hit with another dose of hop bite
with a lingering tingle on the palate.
M:Near perfect body with excellent carbonation, palate is left wanting more
D:Arcadia is one of those breweries that is just waiting to explode on the market with
all the other Michigan breweries. Very crisp and refreshing, excellent taste, and nicely
balanced out with still leaving a nice hop bite. Check out this brews from this place
if you get a chance.

I really enjoyed this one.
A- nice clear copper color. thin white head. lacing doesn't last long.
S- Astringent, but sweet.
T- slightly bitter on the back of my tongue. almost a citrus flavor come through. Tastes good.
M- is refreshing. not to sweet, not to dry.
D- This is very drinkable. I could tear through a six pack of this in no time.

A - Pours a very cloudy orange with a finger of white foamy head that has great retention.
S - Has an interesting aroma that reminds me of a fruit cocktail or perhaps a peach. It is a mix of malty sweetness and a slight citrusy hoppiness.
T - An interesting mix of malt and hops. There is a ton of sickly malt sweetness and all of the hops are near the end of the taste leaving a steely bitter aftertaste. Closer to a pale ale than an IPA.
M/D - Mouthfeel is full, rich and creamy. Very enjoyable mouthfeel. Drinkability is good, could possibly be a bit fresher, but overall not a bad EIPA.

English IPA indeed. A little bit on the malty side, almost bordering on ESB, but hoppy enough to be as advertised. Dark amber, almost brown. , no head and no lace. Smells of an average IPA although there was a bit of the alcohol in the pour. Mouth was average IPA. A touch of candy, a touch of licorice but the malt washed through and very little after to speak of. Mouth and earlier pretty much sum this up. Good English IPA, but lots of others out there.

Poured from a 12oz. bottle(no freshness date) into a standard pint glass
Color of dark iced tea, with a big, off-white head of foam.
Aroma-Malty citrus
Taste-Sweet malt, then a bitter onrush of hops, followed by an astringent citric note. I can't be sure of the freshness of this beer but the malt and hops seem to be at odds with one another
instead of complementing each other as they should.
Overall, not a bad Michigan IPA, but there are so many better ones to be had from this great brewing state.

Reviewed from notes; originally 8/7/10.
A-Dark caramel color with two fingers of white head with nice lacing left behind.
S-Very flowery, with tangerine and pine and a healthy dose of caramel. Also some lemon.
T-Bitter tangerine and a little pine with some sweet caramel notes and a dry bitter finish.
M-Smooth mouthfeel with low carbonation and a medium body. has a drying sensation in the mouth.
D-A nice change next to all of the IPAs I've had lately. Although it has some different aromas and flavors going on, the bitterness is still nice and defined.

Poured from the 12oz bottle into the little plastic cup that is what passes for a drinking vessel in my hotel room. Body is golden-orange, topped by a small, creamy white head that leaves some lacing (on the plastic cup). Aroma is big on sharp, floral, acrid hops, with a big note of grapefruit. Palate is a little more balanced, with some lightly sweet pale malt to temper the dose of citrusy hops. A nice grapefruity bitterness lingers on the finish.
Body is nice and lively, a bit creamy. Good for the style. This is a very good example of an English-style IPA, which is a nice change of pace from the west coast hop bombs I'm used to. Well done.

Poured into pint glass.
Pours 1/2 finger of beige head. Fades to a thinner layer leaving light lace. Color is a hazed pale golden bronze.
Aroma: Bready/biscuity malts. Grassy hops with some some sweet fruit flavors. Kind of bland.
Taste: Very malty with an off flavored fruit note to it. It is a very sweet flavor like a strawberry or a peach. Some floral hops, but nothing I am enjoying.
Mouthfeel: Slightly bitter, but overly creamy. Medium bodied with a medium amount of carbonation. Ends sticky.
Overall, not my type of ipa. Not overly hoppy like an American and it had some off fruit flavors here. Somewhat drinkable if one likes these flavors.

A dark yellow pour, minimal head, aroma was a confluence of grain and alcohol.
Taste, a good deal for the English version. Not as good as hopmouth, but more in line with tradition (which is a negative). It is definitely better than your standard English ipa from the island(s), but in the end, you just want them to push the envelope more into West Coast ipa territory if that's your bag.

A - pours a murky rust color with a good 2 inches of off white foam that left plenty of sticky lacing
S - hops mostly, piney and citrus, a nice grapefruit aroma with some malty sweetness as well
T - citrus and piney hops dominate with a bit of malt finishing with a slight hoppy bitterness
M/D - nothing too overwhelming, or exciting, but if you want a mild, nicely balanced IPA, this is a good start

12 oz bottle to an Imperial pint
A: A moderate pour resulted in a 2-finger off-white froth head that quickly reduced to a 1 finger head that had good retention and lacing as it eventually reduced to a 1/4 finger. Slightly hazy with an orange amber hue.
S: Floral and piny hop with some fruity esters and caramel malt.
T: Hop character follows nose. Hop-forward as expected with a lingering bitterness. Malt character was a little subdued but as the beer warmed caramel and toffee maltiness were present. The lingering bitter character often overshadowed the weak malt.
M: Small bubble carbonation with a medium body, however thin enough to give the beer a slight fizzy-pop feel.
D: A decent English IPA despite the slight unbalance in the hop/malt dynamic. Quite refreshing and I could knock a few back no problem.

12 oz. bottle into a pint glass.
Appearance: A mildly hazy copper amber color on the lighter side of things. Decent sheets and drops of white lacing, and a head that never seems to dispel into the body of the brew, though it doesn't stay very far above the top.
Smell: Mild fruit esters, with apples mostly, possible brown sugar sweetness, not a lot of bitterness, but it's sparingly there. Balanced enough, but very much lacking complexity.
Taste: A good balance of fruit esters, apples, a bit of sourness, and a lot of grain and earthiness. I wish the fruit esters were pushed a bit more since this is an English style. Finishes earthy, with lingering subtle fruit esters and mild bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Seemingly good carbonation, though the body seems a little thin after each sip, or it's almost deceptively a little too watery.
Drinkability: A decent brew, if it a little boring. I could certainly drink a few of these, and it's tasty enough for a session, but nothing really makes it stand out. I've had better from Arcadia and hope to keep trying some more, however.

Poured a 12 oz bottle into a nonic pint glass.
I've never before had an IPA that smelled quite like this...sour apple (much like a cider), brown sugar, and a faint note of toffee, far, far away.
The taste is fairly malty, suggesting that this is the kind of IPA that pushes for malt flavors, rather than an all out blast of hops. No doubt, the hops are definitely there as there is a lot of bitterness to this brew. Clean grains match up to the IBU's, culminating into a very balanced taste.
The color is honey-amber, coupled with a quality off-white head. A nice level of lacing acts as if it is stitched to the body of the beer. An excellent medium body, and an extremely clean finish makes this a highly enjoyable beer for me.

Really not sure about the "best buy date" Says "B1" so I have no idea what that means!
A - Pours a hazy amber with a inch of lacy foam head
S - WTF? Do I smell Robitussin? Seriously strong medicine smell kind of off putting.
T - Slight grapefruit with little hops presence. Not the best or worst IPA
M - Not as bitter which is weird for an IPA but eh I don't know
D - Did I get a bad bottle or is this just the weirdest IPA I ever had? A step up from west coast hops and soap flavor yet no where near what an IPA should be WTF?

Poured a bottle from the sixer i bought a week ago into a tulip glass and was impressed with the honey gold color and light creamy head. Light lacing dissipates quickly as does the head. Smelled malts predominantly followed by hops with a slight pine twang. Tasted like it smells with a bitter aftertaste and a citrus bite. Average mouthfeel a bit on the light side. Drinkability is good for me and i would recommend this beer to others who like the style.

Poured into a pint glass. Amazing head on this one! Three fingers thick and it passed the 'bottle cap' test.
Rich and creamy aroma with a light and delicate grapefruit and pine nut scent and nuances of butterscotch. Deep golden red color.
Taste is maybe a little flat, but every sip brings in more pine scent. Light body, with a good hop finish. Fruity front, but slightly bitter finish.
Aftertaste is a little like after having chewed on an orange rind. Could use a little more balance, but great drinkability. This one could easily get you into some trouble if you threw a couple down in a crowded restaurant (or the Arcadia Brewing Company).
Highly viscous, with a few tannins to remind you that you are indeed drinking beer. I have had this on tap, and just bought a six-pack for a party tonight, and I'm sure this won't be my last glass of this IPA.
