OK, I didn't hate this beer, but it wasn't anything I really wanted, either. It didn't taste anything like a Scotch Ale to me, and had a weird sweet-and-sour flavor to it -- like a molasses-heavy mix with a twist of lemon at the end. It poured pretty much completely dark, with no head at all. Didn't taste the bourbon from the barrel. Didn't taste the alcohol either, though, which was a little surprising since it's a 12-percenter (I felt the alcohol, though).

Well, hoping that Arcadia knows this beer is a complete mess...acetic and lactic acid touches on the tongue, mild acetic flavor throughout. This beer is definitely infected...unless they were going for a dark sour!
Happy I didn't pay for this.

Gift from the old man. He bought a bunch of these and gave me one while at his house. No long review here.
Neutral beer. Looks alright, smells alright, taste is slightly offensive and very alcoholic. The feel is hugely bitter and almost pickle like. Wouldn't buy it.

When I saw this last year was extremely excited since ba ship wreck ported is one of my favorities. Has fresh and didnt care for it thought a year of age might help. Boy was I wrong. Pungent a me smell and taste. No bourbon what so ever. Drank half a glass and poured the rest out. Just aweful. I don't know if this was infected bit it's just plain bad. Stay away.

I really don't know what rating to give this beer. It's clearly infected but not in a particularly unpleasant way. Heck, I think I probably enjoyed this more than something like Zwet.be. I can understand some people drain pouring this but I had no problem finishing the bottle.

12oz bottle poured into a snifter
(A)- Pours a mahogany brown color. Some minimal tan froth
(S)- Some leathery caramel and honey meets subtle dry oak
(T)- Subtle hints at oaky cocoa meets toffee and honey sweetness
(M)- A good carbonation level. It is very barrel forward and a touch thin in body for a 12% beer
(O)- Pretty good but might need a bit of time to settle and integrate together better. The thinness for me is an issue

This beer was not even close to a scotch ale. Infected? Maybe. Just really disappointed.
