Deep yellow color, hazy, large stark white head, fairly fluffy with some larger bubbles mixed in. A steady stream of carbonation bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass.

Spicy nose, lots of yeast, black pepper and hops. Flavor leaned towards the lighter side of the spectrum. Orange zest, a little citrus start things off strong, followed by some grainy flavors, clean. Middle pallette some sugar sweetness and pears. Herbal bitterness and yeast notes round things out. Finishes very dry, with flavors of dried grass and grains.

Carbonation was a little fizzy and very tight. Refreshing.

Overall - A very drinkable, well crafted brew by Yards. Quite balanced. Dry.

A - A finger's worth of lush whimsical airy whipped froth that is pure white in color... Slight to moderate retention gives way to a full veil of lacing and slight collar... The color is honey with an ever so slight haziness... A light to moderate bit of slightly sluggish carbonation rises within... Quite a bit of lacing clings to the glass...

S - Candied sugars... Belgian yeast... A slight fruitiness... A faint wheat component... Honey... A very inviting scent... Quite robust... A surprising depth and complexity...

T - A combination of wheat and Belgian yeast is first to great the senses... This is followed closely by the candied sugar and honey... There are some orange zest notes as well... The finish has a slight floral component... Excellent balance with good depth...

M -On the fuller side of light bodied... Sleek... Lush with a very rich texture... Just a kiss of carbonation, but still rather lively...

D - Not your text book Saison, but all the requisite elements are still present... An interesting spring / summer seasonal twist on one of my favorite styles... Not sure this could be considered amongst my top tier of Saisons, but none the less this could easily be a staple in my spring / summer seasonal rotation... Another find job by the fine folks at Yards...

Poured from a bottle (new label) into a nonic pint glass.

A: A medium golden color with a fluffy 2 finger white head Not much lacing.

S: Lots of yeast and fruit with banana, orange, lemon mixed with spicy pepper notes.

T: The fruit really comes out with a hefty yeast flavor that reminds me more of a hef than a saison. The fruit flavors of banana, orange, lemon and pear mix with a large peppery spice flavor that seems to really take over the beer. Mild sweetness lies underneath, but the pepper mixes with some herbal hops to keep the beer on the drier side. Finish is mostly spicy.

M: Medium at best, actually a bit thin maybe. A bit dry and bitter but not overly so. No alcohol.

O: Not the best Saison I've ever had. It was not overly refreshing, which I like in a good saison, and the pepper spice really seems to take over the beer.

Overall it's an ok beer, but I won't seek it out again. Nothing to remember here.

I poured this beer at about 60 degrees F and it is fine at that temperature. It poured a nice even and clear gold colour with a bright yellow/white two finger head of tiny bubbles that last as a full cap the entire drink leaving that Hopi Indian village in a cliff face kind of look behind on the glass. I dig it!

At this temperature the fruity yeast is most forward followed by an even mix of light malt sweetness, citrus and mild earthy hops as well as spices. Very nice!

The taste is barely dominated by any one thing in particular but more of a swirl of pale malt sweetness, fruits by the bushel of citrus, banana, and mildly tart apple, coriander like spices, mild hops and some pepper. If any one thing is more forward than the others is the pale malt. This is all very well balanced and comes off as mildly dry.

The mouthfeel is creamy and moderately full with mid-range carbonation. I don't think this beer could be crafted better. Everything is in sync.

Overall, I would recommend this beer to anyone as it would be a perfect crossover beer from the usual swill as well as a great recommendation to the beer connoisseur. If there was something that I could find wrong with this beer is that I only have one! 5 out of 5!!!

a: golden in color, thin layer of white carbonation, low retention

s: pale malt body, lots of sweet fruity ester aromas - primarily white grape with some glimpses of pit fruit, grassy hops, smells a bit on the sugary side, but not bad

m: carbonation medium to high, medium bodied with a sugary slickness

t: pale base malts with lots of sweet esters - mostly a white grape flavor, excessively sweet for the style, some orange peel flavor and sweet fruity spice, grassy/metallic hops bring a modest bittering to the finish, with residual sugars still lingering, resulting in an unclean finish that's not exactly refreshing

o: the aroma is fine, but the sweetness on the palate is a huge detractor, just way way way too sweet for what's supposed to be a crisp, refreshing summer ale
