This review from notes on 4/3/09.
Pours coppery orange with a loose khaki head over 2 fingers. Minimal spotty lacing.
Smells slightly floral with caramel like malts. Sweet with some hints of citrus.
Taste hits the bottle description on the nose--toasty, biscuity malts. Surprising given my impression on the nose. Malts grab the attention first, then the hops jump in with floral, clean and barely there astringency which is the taste that lingers.
Smooth mouthfeel and the dry finish makes it go down fast and easy. Medium to strong carbonation. Finishes dry and light.
Delicious and with the dry finish easy to quaff. The hops were well balanced by the malts. Refreshing and satisfying on a hot day. I'll be having this again.

Appearance: Slight roasted brown color to this EPA. Average carbonation. Light head on the pour that was present on the edges of the glass while drinking.
Smell: On the front is a roasted malt aroma. Lots of peanuts, cashews, and caramel. Some very well rounded smells of fresh rye bread. This is a very well done aroma, everything mixes well and has deep mature tones.
Taste: Comes off with some nice scottish ale accents. Deep roasted malt tones. Mixed nuts, tobacco, and licorice. The flavors are present but could be more active. The beer warms up at the end and some of the flavors pop out.
Mouthfeel: Some sticky malt lingers on the palette. Easy drinker, but has a good amount of heaviness to make you remember it.
Overall: There are a few different things going on with this brew that come together pretty well. The complex malty accents are pleasant and Brooklyn seems to be on to something with their use of many different malts in their beers.

Head fizzled out quickly. Left a copper brew with a nearly flat top. No foam withstood the gas purge.
A chlorinated aroma with those Marris Otter malts trying to breach through. A little floral hop tries to cut through a mild grain sweetness. Toastiness is there, but a little muted.
Attenuated flavors with malt dominance. Tart apple and rotted apple combine with earthiness, sparge water, herbal hops, spicy bitterness, toast, and toffee. That bitterness really swells in the finish. Not sure how I feel about this mild tartness.
Carbonation is very low. The bitterness almost fakes it. Body is wet and weak. I'd use the term 'watery' here.
A lot missing here. Carb, body, esters, hop flavor... just an imbalanced English Pale. Doesn't remind me of a baseball beer neither.
